The new Thierry Henry

A bit off topic but maybe the investment of huge sums from the multi billionaire owner of Soton has helped - you can''t achieve the same on our resources -
11 days to go and no sign of activity

There was a bit in the Times today by Oliver Kay quoting a lower Prem manager (unnamed) talking about Palace and their signings of Tomkins, Townsend, Benteke etc and stating his chairman wouldn''t fund 10m for a striker let alone 30m. His view was you need 30m to get a striker with guaranteed goals. Good article talking about the crazy prices this summer and Arsenals (or Arsene''s) problems - says you need to identify the player and pay the price now as time is running out. I''m guessing we''ll need to sign someone who looks/sounds like a striker rather than a proven goalscorer and hope it works out -

So I guess you were just taking the opportunity to have a go at the club with the comment below rather than actually agreeing with their view? "It''s only taken the Southampton coaching system weeks to reach that view. Pity we couldn''t see it. " And the heading ''The new Thierry Henry'' without quotations or a question mark isn''t your view and you don''t agree with it? And no, I didn''t see much in Kane in the few games he played -

So are you saying he''s the new Harry Kane now Crafty? Or what is your point? Bit of a downgrade from the new Terry Henry if so! -

CC wrote "The Southampton manager coached Henry before he joined Arsenal and developed into the player we all know. His comparison is between that Henry and the current Redmond. He isn''t comparing Redmond with the later Henry" So he coached the 20 year old top scorer at the 1998 World Cup that Henry won with France? And he thinks the 22 year old Redmond will develop to be as good? We''ll see but sounds like he''s just trying to big up his CV to me that he coached Terry H -

Comparing Henry to Redmond is ridiculous. Playing Redmond at CF? He may score some goals but I doubt he''ll win the Golden Boot half a dozen times or end up with the best goals per game ratio of any regular EPL CF. Henry was probably the best CF I''ve ever seen and Redders is only fit to polish his boots. -

LOL - ridiculous suggestion but at least it gives the pond life the opportunity to have a go at the club when they''ve run out of other opportunities -
shame it never worked - good luck to the lad

Genuine questions rather than statements: Apart from the signing of Lambert, what influence has McNally had over the relative success of the last 6 or 7 seasons? Was much of the basis for the relative success signing a striker in Grant Holt who hit the form of his life for 3 seasons thereby providing the funds for where we are now? Is McNally responsible for not signing those players in August we were chasing or did he have no chance of bringing them here?

No Martin. Please God, no Martin -
Hasn''t he been ill and not fully recovered? Heaven forbid our club ever actually tell us anything though

From the middle of the South Stand, Howson moved the ball where he needed it and everyone around me was amazed handball wasn''t given. Then there''s Jarvis''s fabulous "pass" for Brady at WBA. Happy to be getting our share of luck at last -
