  1. Potter has a verbal agreement to take the job apparently, maybe this new owner won't go through managers like the last one and wants someone in charge for the long term. If that's the case, good appointment, if not sacked within six months with a massive pay off, it's a win win for Potter.
  2. Maybe Potter knew what was coming and signed him so he wasn't on Chelsea's books anymore. Football genius
  3. Probably why he's gone to Man city, gives the Spanish government time to bail out Real and Barca, so it can go back to business as usual.
  4. I'm sure I saw somewhere that there's an understanding he will move to Real Madrid after a few seasons, so just using Man City as a stepping stone to his dream move (though that could be paper talk). Even so, it won't take long for him to break loads of records.
  5. 10 mill not really a risky fee for an established PL club, I haven't read about the deal, but I'm guessing there's plenty of add ons and a hefty sell on clause
  6. I guess the prestige and no doubt improved wages of joining Man U, would be tempting, but would have to weighed up with not getting any game time. Krul has spent a lot of time as a number two, would he want to go back to that, or would he have the drive/ self belief that he could take over as number one? As for the WC, it could be argued playing the odd good game for them would give him a better chance than playing in the championship, especially if he plays in a high profile game or two and impresses. But he would also potentially drop down to third choice if/when Henderson returns. From the club's point of view it only makes sense if they pay over the odds for him, which they always do in transfers.
  7. It seems Billy Gilmour isn't deemed good enough to be a part of Chelsea's future, odd that. Brighton apparently are interested in a permanent move, on last season's evidence, I'd say that's about his level. The media appear to be desperate to see him re-united with Lampard at Everton but I doubt he'll want another relegation on his CV. Now I'm not saying I would want him here this season, but I reckon if he had come this season instead of last, it may have been a better fit with the extra possession we are getting now.
  8. Unless we have a start to the season similar to last season after 10 or so games, then I doubt the board/Webber will even consider changing. But obviously if we get 10 games in and we still haven't won a game, then things will have to change. It's all ifs and buts, and I'm sure the results will come soon and we'll be pushing for promotion. If it does go bad and Smith goes then I'd rather we went for Knutsen, unless Webber has another Farke type appointment up his sleeve, though I doubt that, since he clearly didn't have anyone in mind when he sacked him. Smith may or may not be a good fit for us, but the squad probably needs a good shake up after two failed attempts to stay up, especially last season. The shake up might be achieved by changing the manager who oversaw much of last season's disappointment.
  9. Unless our season completely implodes, with loss after loss like last season, then the board won't act. Whether us as fans like or respect him is pretty irrelevant, it's the players and only them whose opinion really matters and not anyone outside them who have formed their own conclusion on Smith's/Shakeys ability to deliver. Last season was a disaster and if we are all being honest there was no one who would have done much better with the squad we had. No matter what was said publicly, the board obviously hired Smith with this season in the Championship in mind or signings would have been made in January. I would think if we aren't in a good position by the world cup break then the board might have the conversation, he deserves at least that time to whip us into shape, in my opinion anyway.
  10. Anywhere else on the pitch and that's a yellow or red card, yes he played the ball first, but that's irrelevant when studs are up like that. It seems it doesn't matter if it's a leg breaking tackle when it's in the box.
  11. All good points but let's not forget this is a preseason friendly, if the bad and ugly trends carry over when it really matters then it may be time to worry.
  12. Webber did admit in his post season interview, that we could have gone down the route of signing proven prem players at the risk of financial problems down the line in the event of relegation, but that he wasn't prepared to do that. Maybe Tzolis will work out long term, but the early signs haven't been all that encouraging. I guess the question is, are we happy spending our transfer budget on players that in all likelihood aren't going to keep us up, but are safer signings that may lead to profits, or this mercenary type signing as Lingard's is in an attempt to keep the prem money rolling in? It will be interesting to see how this approach plays out, let's face it Lingard is hardly a top Premier League player and they will probably be struggling to not be one of the bottom three clubs, but he must strengthen their chances somewhat.
  13. Webber would never go for a deal like this. He'd much rather buy an unproven youngster who may or may not improve and give us a small profit (although in all likelihood will be a dud, who will have to be loaned out and try not to make a loss on) than spend less money on a proven PL player to try and get another season of 100 or so million.
  14. This to me looks like an agent trying to get his player a new contract. He says that Pukki is a man who honours his contracts, that he's a star player for fans, sponsors and the entire community and that he's too valuable to Norwich for them to realistically sell him, unless a ridiculous offer comes in for him. It's not too much of a stretch for this to be nothing more than Pukki's agent trying to get him an extended contract to remain here and maybe see out his career. It's the solution that makes most sense to all parties.
  15. In an ideal world you'd want to have all new signings done asap, so they get a full preseason with the squad, but that's not how transfer windows tend to play ou also add in the factor that Webber has clearly said there are little funds unless we sell first.
  16. Driving past Carrow Road to find the club badge has changed and a near unintelligible new font which presumably says Norwich City has been plastered over the City Stand.
  17. Let's be honest, none of us would care less about Cantwell's hair, social media antics or whether he was likeable or not if he was producing quality performances on the pitch.
  18. I seriously thought they'd dragged some old boy from the pub for that picture.
  19. I think we could all guarantee this will not be happening at the rugby world cup or Olympics.
  20. However bad it was for the genuine fans outside the stadium, how the police handled it was far better than just letting everyone without a ticket inside, and another 97 people getting crushed to death. You'd think Liverpool fans, more than anyone on the planet would respect that.
  21. I must admit when I read the soundbites of the interview I thought 'oh dear', but having watched it all, I actually thought he came across quite well. However I do think it's ill advised to blame the fans in anyway, after all we only react to what we see on the pitch, also obviously the decision was made to not discuss it, but I'm sure one of the main things lots of us would like to know is was there a succession plan when sacking Farke, because the way it was done led us to believe someone was lined up, but obviously that wasn't the case?
  22. But then we'd have to change the green seats to black, don't want to waste that precious parachute money on that squit.
  23. The last time Webber engaged with fans, it didn't go to well. Maybe he's been told to keep quiet for awhile in the best interest of the club, or he's decided it's better for himself to keep quiet, or maybe he's just halfway up a mountain. If we are all expecting him to shoulder the blame for this season when he does finally speak, then I rather suspect we will be disappointed.
  24. Robert Fleck, hard working, was capable of sticking it to the big teams on occasion, loved by the fans, but ultimately when he went to the big time (Chelsea) he wasn't quite good enough.
  25. Whether Smith is the right man or not is impossible to judge right now, there is however a danger that the players will be mentally scarred from this season and have trouble lifting it again next season, especially if and that's a big if, they haven't confidence in Smith. But let's not forget we definitely had the poorest squad in the division, and Smith wasn't given the opportunity to bring in any new players. The way he was appointed I think kind of shows that the original plan if there was one, was to appoint a caretaker for the rest of the season, then start fresh the next season. But Webber saw the opportunity to get Smith when he came available. Maybe the caretaker route and a fresh start would have been the best option.
