  1. Unfortunately its the end of the road for him here BUT he has done enough over the years that I think fans should avoid blaming him beyond a ''he shouldn''t be in the team'' type of way when he does play. Its obvious, hes older and after his illness he had a few years ago hes not been the same. As an experienced player who can play 2 positions hes been called upon more than we''d have liked and now we''ve got reinforcements I presume he will remain a backup for our subs. I have absolutely no issue playing him in the cup and hope he does.
  2. If you play them both surely you could get both hard work and goals. Probably not the right game to start two up front but I can''t understand how we don''t change to a more attacking format when playing certain teams. I''d go with Oliviera but also think it will come down to his injury.
  3. Lappin was a very hard working player who could definitely cross a ball. His real downfall was being bang average at championship level and in a team which was seriously under performing. I was there when he scored that last second freekick away at Luton. The reaction in the away end was absolutely unreal. Roeder is the guy that most Norwich fans will say is the worst manager we''ve ever had and to be honest he deserves it. You go down your local pub and the conversation of Roeder and Grant is actually comical. Would like to hear what Hoolahan felt about him as hes still at the club but was also signed by him.
  4. If we have another 0-0 at our next home game I probably won''t be too impressed! I feel the reason we''re not scoring goals is partly a lack of squad players to cover the wings and striker position... without a doubt would have changed things up by now if we had another striker option or winger but looks like Jerome played very well in what must have been insanely tough/frustrating vs Boro. Can feel the ball is starting to roll so hopefully we continue the improved momentum.
  5. Josh frustrates the absolute hell out of me. I''ve only seen him in the league at home and his form there seems to be one good game in 5. It was obvious he needed to be dropped last night after his very poor performance at the weekend. Maybe he can shine more against lesser opposition when playing bottom of the table teams as opposed to a tough Boro team.
  6. For me the formation needs to be changed and incorporate Tettey back into the team. No one can doubt hes decent enough to start for most championship teams. Unfortunately the team as a whole isn''t playing well though and one player coming in probably isn''t the answer. Would one man have prevented that 4-0 at Millwall? No.
  7. At our last home league game I counted 4 different betting companies advertised. LeoVegas, Coral, Bet365 and I think Skybet. If I missed any then feel free to add them. Its a HUGE part of football and I can''t see that changing anytime soon.
  8. I agree with most of the post above. Even Morris would have been a decent backup. Shame we can''t just buy another good quality striker and play with 2 strikers but I think against Charlton Murphy should be good enough to play up top with a good 3 behind him. I wouldn''t risk Jerome as we need a minimum of 2 out and out strikers available every week. For me this game is a good test for us as we''ve not exactly started ''amazingly'' and a loss would prove we need to invest slightly more.
  9. For me Naismith offers very little in terms of number of chances created and doesn''t get an awful lot of goals (8 goals in 45 games). I totally agree about him not having the best engine as you rarely, if ever, see him sprinting onto a ball or running with it. I get that Wildschut offers pace and genuine threat but half the time his end ball is pathetic. When you look at Sundays game we managed a number of shots but rarely created what you would consider great chances. Sunderland will be pleased with their game plan and I hope it was just an off day for us - but anyone who can genuinely say Jerome is the fault then I would ask how he could have done much else other than pick the ball up himself out of position and make his own chance. Oliviera should be starting but you can''t expect Jerome to feed off nothing. I expect 3 or 4 changes will change our game on Wednesday. Pinto, Hoolahan, Oliviera and Vrancic to come in for me.
  10. I think £3m is a complete joke considering how many goals he scored last season and is a seasoned pro in this league. I do understand he is getting slightly older and misses a lot of chances. But hes not showing the signs of decline. Hes always missed a lot. He misses a lot because of the type of striker he is - Earnshaw used to miss countless shots but scored plenty. The contribution he gives to a team in the championship is far more than £3m considering the value of those goals in terms of points.
  11. Just seen on the OneBoro forum (Terrible format) that last season the manager actually changed formation when Friend wasn''t available just so they didn''t have to play Husband. Their fans seemed to indicate he just wasn''t up to premiership standard. He didn''t do great on his loan spells either which leads me to wonder who out of him and Toffolo will get to be our first choice. I really think Toffolo deserves a chance with us!
  12. Have to say I was very impressed with this guy when he came into the team and it was a shame at the time that he couldn''t play a bigger part in the season. Hopefully he''s back in training ready for the the new season.
  13. Couldn''t agree more with the post above. Mcgovern will have one good game and then a string of games where we concede a number of goals that you could question he should save. I would say our defence isn''t exactly helping anything but I cannot defend him as a goalkeeper playing 1st team football for Norwich City. He hasn''t shown any consistency and lets in too many savable shots. Ruddy has proved he can do it and I hope to see him reinstated on Saturday - but I know he won''t because Irvine is keeping to Neils tactics.
  14. I hate that people say Jerome misses too many chances or doesn''t score enough. He makes/creates things no other player at this club would do! I looked on my football app and it shows players in the league that have missed big chances... Jerome is 11th on 9 but in comparison, Scott Hogan is 1st with 18. Imagine someone missing that many. I really want to see us start 2 up front because Oliviera has the 2nd highest scoring frequency to minutes on the pitch, Gale 1st and Wood 3rd. We also need Hoolahan back because hes one of our best players in terms of chances created, successful passes, dribbles and assists.
  15. I''d be scared to take it on if I was Russel Martin. Hes got enough on his plate trying to sort out his own performances. That said, Hes probably the one player we have who would be most likely to venture into management.
  16. I feel sorry for him because he has made it very clear hes not the man for the job. I would however question the performances under him... we cant exactly do much worse. Shame someone is in charge of our club who doesn''t want to be. You could name plenty who''d give it their absolute all.
  17. I''ve been a season ticket holder for the last 15 years and I can think of a lot of worse teams. We have had worse teams that have probably done better than the way we''re playing this season, I will say that. I''ve been saying it all season - we need to refresh the squad getting rid of stale average under performers and get in some players who have the hunger to go up. I''d name the players but there isn''t any point as we all know its the defence. My tether is up with Bennett after the last couple of games... we need to bring in youth to replace some of the consistent goals he gives away and I''d have more time for someone less experienced making those mistakes than someone who''s played over 114 games.
  18. Someone probably brought out the ''Doherty How To Defend'' dvd but it got stuck in the dvd player. All they''ve been able to watch.
  19. Just had a look at the fixture list and unless my eyes aren''t working we only won 1 in our last 16 away games. Glad they''ve said they couldn''t possibly defend our away record!
  20. I watched about 65 minutes of this and must say we soaked up their pressure perfectly, put bodies on the line when it mattered and then the link up play going forward at times made it look like we were definitely the better side. There were some pretty strong tackles flying in on our players too, game was due a second yellow for someone thats for sure! Hitting the post twice was unlucky but we were incredibly lucky the ref didn''t see the handball when the ball was going in... red card, penalty and then extra time would have probably been too much of an ask. Once our playoff hopes are over (they already are to me) I hope some of these lads at least get on the bench. Anyone being released should be dropped for these boys!
  21. I predict Jerome will get another goal to prove even more the criticism of him has been absolutely absurd. Result? It is so hard to predict after an international break but can see us in true fashion, with the results going our way last week, failing to keep the momentum and prolonging the agony of ''can we make the playoffs''. I''ll go with 2-2.
  22. I''m going to defend Jerome as this is annoying now. You know what you get with him and the fact that so many people constantly come out to put him down after every game just baffles me. He isn''t Ronaldo, Messi or Alan Shearer. You must know by now he misses chances, has his off days and you get that with basically 99% of strikers at this level. He''s up front on his own and shows more determination than anyone to try and chase everything down... He creates things that no one else would in our entire team. Not sure what some people want from the guy because no one scores every single shot they have. I''d understand if he was lazy or actually didn''t score much but being our top scorer for a couple of seasons now I don''t know how everyone constantly bangs on about the guy not being good enough. Maybe help up with him would make a difference? Aside from that, Naismith is just lacklustre in everything he does except his ability to remonstrate with the referee. World class at that.
  23. As a season ticket holder that was asking for him to be sacked 4 games into our losing streak I''m getting bored. I did an accumulator today with Reading to win (Scunthorpe would''ve won me £1200 grrr) but the fact is this is the first season after 14 years of watching the ups and downs and seeing the squad/formation I could confidently say we''d lose. Every week it''s the same thing... Play a team in the top half we crumble, play an average team we''ll struggle to grind out some points and the bottom teams seem a bit more our level to get a result. Not changing tactics and players to fit those tactics against in form teams costs us this season.
  24. This weekend it would appear not. I would like to see 3 at the back to use wingbacks though, we could suit that. I just want to see some kind of change because going forward Brady, Murphy and Pritchard haven''t done it for me recently. The main source of balls into the box seems to be from our fullbacks anyways. At least we have a squad of players with a bit of depth which can allow us to think up where we could change things about a bit. Just a shame we''ve not really seen that happen yet.
  25. Ruddy Pinto, Martin, Klose, Olsson Thompson, Tettey, Dorrans Neismith Jerome, Oliviera This is when players are fit/not suspended. This weekend We''re without Dorrans, Olsson and will have to see if Thompson is back along with Pinto. This weekend funnily enough probably does suit 451 being away at an in form team. I just want to see some kind of tactical change to the lineup a bit more the way Lambert used to do.
