  1. NFL season starts tonight for majority of teams so opportunity is there to give a new sport a watch. (Cue the hate 😂). Games on sky at 6 and 9.25pm. Green Bay Packers play in yellow and green and are community owned. Natural synergy with NCFC. (I'm a washington fan, and it's miserable so I'd give them a swerve if you're looking for a team to follow - imagine watching Norwich every time we've been in the prem recently, and then imagine it every year - that's what being a washington fan is. 😂)
  2. It's also taken in the directors box so was probably an invite rather than an active choice.
  3. Isn't that the idea Labour have been pushing.... like the windfall tax was... This bunch of Tories literally cannot think for themselves.
  4. Most sensible solution I've seen. If you coupled this with the energy industry's plan to essentially have a scheme whereby prices are capped now (at the april 2022 rate), and we repay the money over the next 10 years so when prices do come down again, we're still fixed at essentially the rate they have been this year, to repay the deficit, then I think we could navigate this crisis fairly sensibly. But Liz Truss will be in charge so doubtful any kind of sensible solutions will be employed.
  5. Nice to see something a bit high brow in here. I'm not massively into classical music but my partner is an elite level cellist. We went to see Sheku Kanneh-Mason (Arguably one of the top 5 cellists ever) who played at Harry and Meghan's wedding and his sister Isata (World renowned pianist) in July. I expected to hate it and be clock watching the entire time... I didnt. It was simply sensational. Watching them was just incredible to behold and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you get the chance to see him/them, it's well worth it. He's playing in Bury St Edmunds in September https://www.theapex.co.uk/whats-on/details.cfm?id=678547&ins=949190 Also had the chance to meet him after the show and he's an unbelievably humble, genuinely nice guy.
  6. Putting the topic back on track - I'm moving in to a place on my own (most of the time) in the next week or two so have been looking at ways I can potentially save some cash, particularly in terms of energy usage. I dont use a lot of energy anyway but these are the things that I have found/found out that will help me keep the costs down as much as possible. Tumble driers are expensive to run, but lots of people feel drying racks leave clothes damp etc (I'm one of them). You can buy heated drying racks, or even heated "pods" which are basically drying racks with a cover that goes round the clothes and a heater and fan combo underneath to circulate the warm air. Both of these options are a fraction of the running costs of tumble driers. The pod systems dry clothes in about 2.5 hours. Heated clothes racks come in at about 40 or 50 quid. Pod systems are around 80. Dehumidifiers are also a good option here apparently and help clothes dry much quicker whether using a heated rack, pod, or just a normal rack. Air fryers are incredibly cost effective if you're cooking smaller meals or for one/two people as they're essentially mini convection ovens so do the same job but due to much smaller size, they use much less energy to heat. You can cook directly from frozen in them and there is a lot of people who say the food tastes far better etc. Lots of recipes etc online. They cost around 30-40 quid. Obviously the other option here is batch cooking as microwaves also use negligible amounts of energy and you are essentially cooking several meals at once in the oven or on the hob. Heating the house is clearly going to be the biggest concern for most people. Difficult for those with families to get around this, but for single people or those living with just one other person, heated blankets cost almost nothing to run, can be picked up for around 30 pounds or so and will keep things cosy enough. Getting out from under it might be a bit of a shock to the system but it's an effective way to stay warm without spending money heating the whole house.
  7. With Gibbs injured, now is as good a time as any to start Sara. I suspect it will be McLean for Birmingham but I think Sara will be in sooner rather than later.
  8. Yes, if it keeps Kenny out of midfield.
  9. He's gone according to their local journos. https://twitter.com/JHunterChron
  10. Absolutely. The profteering with contracts for their mates during Covid was utterly debased. We all remember Alistair Campbell's "Good day to bury bad news" comment, but the current Westminster incumbents used a global pandemic in which thousands of UK citizens died, to give BILLIONS of our taxpayer cash to their mates. They didn't even have the decency to hide it (makes a change), just open, blasé corruption, whilst our hospitals were overrun with people dying.... and somehow the Tory voters didn't even seem to notice. I've never liked the Tories, and I've never made a secret of that, but this government since Cameron stepped down has been by far the most corrupt, unethical, dishonest and absolutely pathetic bunch of politicians we have ever seen. Cameron had a lot of faults and I disagreed with a lot of what he did, but he was light years ahead of this shower. Johnson and Farage have done an unbelievable amount of damage to British politics, and the country as a whole.
  11. Cracking pics TGS. I'll add some at some point in next few days
  12. I'm rubbish at this, but I can answer number 7 as I was there. Probably one of a very small number who was in the stands to see both wolfy's goals for us first-hand. Was the day of Grabban's infamous strop that lead to all the Bradley Johnson rumours if I'm not mistaken.
  13. Got back from Istanbul last week - only got to see my friend for an evening as he had some familt commitments. Istanbul is beautiful as ever, although a lot more tourists this time than I remember in the past. Did all the major sights plus a couple id never done before. A lot of the sights are under restoration at the moment, presumably in response to higher tourist numbers so was slightly disappointed on a few fronts. Blue mosque (inside) and maidens tower were both covered with scaffold, and although the Basilica Cistern restoration is complete, I preferred it before it was done up. Hagia Sophia, Topkapi palace, gulhane park, blue mosque, ortakoy mosque, grand bazaar and basilica cistern are all ones ive done previously that we did again. Bought 3 beautiful traditional Turkish lamps in the grand bazaar too. New ones for me were going up the Galata Tower which provides an incredible 360 viewpoint over Istanbul, Çamlica mosque (biggest in Turkey) which is unbelievable in scale, its huge. Not tourist filled either as its not straightforward to get to and on the Asian side of Bosphorous (anyone interested in going its ferry to Uskudar and 15C bus opposite the ferry station takes you right there). Went out to Princes Islands for a few hours which is really fun - lots of old Ottoman mansions and totally different to the rest of Istanbul, explored Kadikoy market, had a meal on a beautiful balcony of an Ottoman hunting lodge, overlooking the bosphorus with an incredible view in Emirgan Park which is a beautiful park I hadn't visited before. Overall, we had a really good trip, and my Turkish held up perfectly for basic stuff like ordering and directions.
  14. I put about a stone of what I lost back on over the last year. Had a horrific run of stuff going on, including a breakdown of a 10 year relationship and my new partner's mum passing away less than 4 months after a cancer diagnosis so im not being too hard on myself about it. Still lighter now than I was at 17 (and in about 16.5 of the 18 years since then!). Planning to smash it back off again in September once I've moved house. I reckon I can take the stone down in 6 weeks.
  15. I totally get the frustration but all I'm bothered about is getting to see the games. I can't go as much as I'd like due to kids, being miles away etc, so whether it's a stream or canariestv, or one of the games I get to, as long as I can see every game, then il live with ut. As such, however many games we do get via canariestv (plus audio of the cup) will work out decent value in my book
  16. I rate him to be fair, I've always found him to be decent and absolutely unbiased when discussing us.
  17. As I said. If its on sky or international broadcast, it is available via stream
  18. If the game is on sky or overseas broadcast then it is widely available to stream. If its not on sky then its on the canariestv platform. I get the frustration, I've also dropped the money for the season pass (amazing how quick I can travel around from home) and had to find a stream to watch tonight. The terms are clear and it's just a case of adapting and finding dodgy streams when you have to, as mentioned above, 15 games would be decent value.
  19. Sarge getting the plaudits but Sinani is also delivering the goods. Goals, assists, the boy is doing well.
  20. Agreed, I really like him, the one thing I'd like to see him improve is sometimes he gets caught ballwatching and looks surprised to see a pass come to him. Would like him to be a little more proactive rather than reactive.
  21. Missed the game as currently in istanbul and was catching up with an old friend, appreciate the report Ricky.
  22. Have you ever watched a Sean Dyche team play? Absolutely no to the hoof all from me. Smith is bad and I want him gone but Dyche is not someone I want anywhere near us.
  23. Smith has got to go... nothing more to say about it. The guy is clueless. Webber can go with him.
