  1. I joked with friends after his first couple of games that a few weeks of smith and shakey’s coaching would turn him into Shaun Carey, but sadly I may be right
  2. Ian Murray According to Google he had 6 caps and played for Rangers and Hibs but looked so out of his depth in the championship it was untrue - either during the Grant or Roeder years I think?
  3. Another 5ft 8 goalie here! Had trials for the University of Birmingham team which was second only to Loughborough for sports at the time and we had a full international striker in the first team, from the Cayman Islands. But as a more ‘fun-sized’ keeper and enjoying the beer I preferred the inter-departmental 5-a-side leagues and played 2 games, every lunchtime for lots of different teams, 5 days a week. Easy when a geography degree only has 6-8 taught hours a week. Played Anglian combination and Sunday leagues for a number of years until a bad ankle injury going over a broken kerb at Cambridge half marathon in km 2 and stupidly ran the remaining 19. Favourite memory is a pensioner storming onto the pitch at Drayton after a decent game and arguing I shouldn’t be playing as I was Scott Howie and a professional. I couldn’t look less like Scott Howie and was more Fabian Barthez but he was adamant
  4. Good luck Pete and agree with others sentiments on the quality of moderation. Looks like all change today - the EDP editor who I think a few us on the board know has announced his departure
  5. Probably gonna get pelters for this but Johnny Howson. Looked on very fondly by supporters ‘rolls royce of a player’ but he forced a move away at the start of the Farke era and I think is a little overrated. Undoubted ability and some great goals but I just feel he went missing sometimes and didn’t dominate games in the manner his ability could/should have allowed. Also been part of a boro team who haven’t threatened promotion for 4-5 seasons now (tho tho season looks better). I’ll put my tin hat on!
  6. I should say no guarantees. I went to watch one of the games last season and no luck as it was 6 nations and full of students watching that - hence my comment. But I think it’s the best of admittedly not great options who might show and have enough TVs to change the channel for 1 if you ask nicely.
  7. White Swan on Mill Road probably the best shout - they tend to show a mix of games and will be less busy with students at the mo. Short walk from the Station. Not bad no frills pub grub Hard being an exile as less likely to show the non-prem games outside of The Fine City
  8. Met back-up goalkeeper Mark Bunn in a bakery. Really small guy for a top-level goalkeeper
  9. Well bumped. Superb effort from NCFSC. Unfortunately as an exile I can’t make many events but enjoyed the fantasy football and to a lesser extent the super 6, which was a bit of a disaster this year!
  10. On a sheff Utd theme, we were linked with Ampadu on loan before getting Skipp last season. Didn’t watch much of sheff Utd last year but think he had to fill in at centre half? Could be a loan option if we don’t get Skipp back?
  11. Good gig but they ran out of beer very quickly in the stand I was in and ended up drinking some terrible white wine 🤢
  12. 6-2 loss at home to Forest in Jan ‘91 aged 10. Took the lead with a Tim Sherwood free kick I think but then got battered although Fleck (from memory) got 1 back. Got pushed down to the front of the Barclay on my own and it was amazing - especially when Gunn and Bowen had a massive argument in front of me for conceding a soft corner after about 5 had gone in - learnt some new words that night with Welsh *#%! and useless Scottish £&?!
  13. All signed up - great event and topic matter. And like some others a cause close to my heart. Hoping to run the London Marathon in October for MIND covid permitting
  14. Parrott likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender. Quite like the fact Ipswich have signed a player who Tim Krul told that he had never heard of him - therefore hadn’t written his penalty taking preferences on his famous bottle
  15. Agreed on Ameobi - always caused us problems and feel he could be a good impact sub for us and fills a number roles. Seems to have been one of those players we could have picked up cheaply a couple of times before, not least from Bolton when in champ before but whether he could do it in the prem......? Not sure how consistent he is but a rough diamond to be polished?
  16. This is too good - beyond parody. Thanks feedthewolf- never seen this before - it’s patridge-esque. Keep up the good work on the contract posts btw 😉
