  1. LDC - Hoolahan played nearly ONE full match. He was an unused sub v Georgia
  2. At every mention of this competition, I scurry off to google the rules and remind myself of the name of the damn thing. I am sure this would have been mentioned before the last fixture, but as GJL mention 3 overage players, I thought I''d check again. Anyway, it seems the starting 11 must include at least 6 under 21s (as of 30th June). By my reckoning we only named 3 overage players in the whole match day squad against Peterborough - the obvious one being andreu, as well as josh and Thompson, who had both turned 21. Madison, Toffolo and andreu are now out on loan. You''d imagine Canos, Pritchard and Oliviera may come in. Having to start with at least 6 u21s was the only restriction I could see regarding ages of players in the "invited" teams. I saw nothing about substitutes. I guess later in the competition an "invited" team could replace 3 of the younger players with seniors as the game progressed, and end the match with 8 first team senior players on the pitch if desired. Maybe I am missing something, but I''d have thought they could have also restricted the number of over 21s that are on the bench - maybe to just a further 2. Anyway glad to see so many youngsters involved, although it is also an opportunity for seniors'' match fitness and to assist the youngsters, where necessary. I am pleased we entered. Going to be interesting to see how far the ''u21'' teams go. Don''t even know what we are actually called - bbc has us down as Norwich u21; but I''ve seen sky and here refer to u23 (as in PL2) Kyle Lafferty is away with NI.
  3. Ron wrote: "Bur, you really are an immature cretin ..." Well said Ron. You speak for me too and hundreds of others I bet. I usually just rapidly scroll past his posts without reading, but sometimes they are just difficult to avoid. Derby is away; 6 of the next 9 are away.
  4. LOL Ron Don''t know how true this is, but I''ve heard that the club are thinking of introducing email. After the recent transfer window fiascoes, there was an internal inquiry and the upshot of it all is that staff in the Recruitment and Scouting sections are going to be trained to use email. It''s all going to be quite costly. The likes of Tommy Cavendish and True Grit have been recruited to act in consultancy roles. They''ll supervise the training and bring in their expertise and demonstrate how email is now being used by scouts. By all accounts we missed out on a number of 20-goal a season strikers this summer, due to scouting reports being held up by royal mail and couriers stuck in traffic. Hopefully once things are up and running, the new technology will start to bear fruit in a season or two. Exciting times!
  5. Hogesar wrote "name 8 better teams" I think last year there were 3 teams worse than us but we still went down. This season there are certainly many teams capable of frustrating / beating us, and teams who''ll do well in this league. If we continue to play like we have, I think 8th might be about right.
  6. We''ve missed out on a small windfall, too, surely? Wouldn''t a sale of between 5-8 million have given us something in the region of 1 mill (15% of profit) I think we''ve clearly been hamstrung through lack of funds. failing to shift the likes of Naismith, turner and laferty.
  7. I wasn''t fooled. I saw the "highly rated" bit in the link. Another we''ve missed out on to one of our rivals. If we''d signed him instead of Mcgovern and Jones and not loaned out Rudd, we''d have 3 keepers - Ruddy, Ruddy and Rudd
  8. I have no probs picking up skysports2 and all the other sky sports channels online v.clearly here in Thailand ... not sure if it''s as easy in UK. if Anyone needs a link, let me know
  9. I wonder if he''s made the short trip to Derby for the late KO v Villa
  10. I last checked this forum just after the game Tuesday (Wednesday morning for me) I hadn''t realized anything had been amiss, until reading this thread today. I just assumed the board was quiet as it usually is after a win.
  11. Yes, it was the first game of our relegation season (3rd season in the PL). Had forgotten about the Swansea game. I thought he more than held his own in the 1st PL season. Another game that stood out for me was at the beginning of February at home to Bolton. Both CBs - Whitbread and Ward - had gone off in the 1st half with injuries. Naughton moved from RB to CB and Martin came on to partner Naughton. Bennett either switched to or came on at RB. I thought he was outstanding that day along with the whole team (we were all but safe with over 1/ 3 of the season left). I have to admit, (cough, cough!) up until the day he left (3 years and 3 managers later), I was among those convinced he could become our regular right-back (cough, cough). So little do I know. Great performance against Everton. Very unlucky with the injury, and think he served us well, all said and done.
  12. To Tilson, I realize you are labouring the point that people come on here and moan about the way the club is run, yet are conspicuous by their absence when there is a chance to ask a question directly to the ceo, no less. Anyway, It took me less than 5 minutes to read through the first 3 pages of this thread and pick out 4-5 sensible questions (broadstairs, byg, Parma and vanwink etc). I would guess it would take a further 5 minutes to copy, paste and edit those questions ready to ask on the night. And of course the big advantage of posting questions on a public thread as opposed to sending them to someone''s private email address is that everyone can see the questions that have already been asked. By email, there is potential for duplicate questions (although it seems unlikely in this instance hehehe) because people have absolutely no idea what others have asked. Seems far more efficient to post and use the questions from this thread. Then after the meeting, everyone will also be aware of the likely topics discussed. You spend hours upon hours on this message board, so it seems stupid for you to complain that you can''t do a very simple 10 minute task of going through this thread and picking out the serous questions.
  13. Broken knee cap. Was out for 14 months (early 2015 - April 2016) According to my sources (bbc & eh ... Wiki) he came back into the forest 1st team mid April and made 4 substitute appearances in Forest''s last 4 games - 1st game Sub in last minute or so of injury time; 2nd game - 84th minute sub; 3rd and 4th game - 25 minute sub appearances. 1 Goal - coming in the last game v mk dons.
  14. The Paul Cheesley range of Cheesy Fries and er ... Cheesy Balls
  15. So how did Micky Phelan react at the final whistle? Arms folded and then quick footed exit down the tunnel?
  16. Great first half. Hopeful! KB wrote "Just glad to see Til is still with us after his silence during the days of debating the Hillsborough verdict." lol
  17. Agree Seattle. If there is a choice, Sunderland to lose suits us most
  18. To counter No Klose, here is what I feel has all the ingredients for a perfect scenario for the end of the season - a twist in the tale and poetic justice: Sunderland 4 games - 7 points = 38 points (plausible) (2 wins, a draw and a defeat). Newcastle 3 games - 9 points = 39 (not inconceivable) - (Palace (h) Villa (A) and Spurs (with nothing to play for) (H)). Now the less likely part of the equation: Norwich 4 games - 9 points = 40. and I''m not finished yet ... Palace 3 games - 0 points = 39 (Newcastle and Soton (a) - likely defeats . And .... uhh ... Stoke (whose players suddenly realize that they''ll forego a massive part of their bonus if they don''t buck their ideas up and secure a top half finish! and they do the business against Palace). So this all leaves the final table as follows: 16. Norwich 40 17. Palace 39 18. Newcastle 39 19 Sunderland 38 20 Villa - god knows - 16 pts probably Newcastle down on goal difference. So the twist in the tale / poetic justice is that Oliver is left to ponder that the challenge on Jarvis was a penalty and had he given it - Palace would probably have gone down instead of his beloved Newcastle! And of course none of this will happen - but it''s nice to dream for a day or so at least. Now back to the real world ... suddenly it''s only just over 2 days to Arsenal
  19. Hull Mike Phelan. You can''t tell me that his body language and reaction to the win at Bournemouth last Jan. wasn''t of someone whose nose had been firmly put out of joint. If we go down, Middlesbrough going up through the play-offs will feel pretty galling after the euphoria of last May. If we stay up, it will be quite ok.
  20. Really Need Tottenham to close gap on Leicester over next 3 games, so that they are still in contention for the title come their last game against Newcastle. 5pt lead atm so need at least a 2-3 point swing in Spurs favour over the next 3. Possible.
