The squad so far

Recommended Posts

Fox, Ayala and Barnett to be sold or, failing that, loaned out.

Four to come in: Fer, Toivonen & Hooper + a central defender (don''t know who but can''t honestly see us getting Alderweireld).

Also maybe a cheap young loanee - Nick Powell seems a good bet, especially if we don''t get Toivonen.

Olsson will double as a left winger so think that''s us done on wingers.

Cb; Martin

Rm; Pilks

Cm; Fer

Lm; Snoddy

St; Hooper

St; RvW

So Fer and Johnson as playmakers ^^

I know people get a bit hard in their pants for two pure strikers but I personaly hope we dont go back to hoofball and keep it in 3 middlefilders.

Also I rate Hoolahan so much higher than Hooper not to mention Howson that I would want to see that kind of formation only if 4-2-3-1 doesnt work.

Also all the players that has been rumoured for us except Hooper are good at playing ball on the ground so 4-4-2 without another of nines being false one would sound a bit wrong considering what Hughton was trying to do last season.

That said some of them are heading specialists.RvW, Fer , Toivonen and Alderweilerd all + 185 cm so long balls are not out of option either.

Anyway I''m personaly very dissapointed if we dont have attacking middlefielder on our best 11 and I personaly see Hooper only good as competition for RvW, if we ever sign him.

Yeah valid points about fer and hooper mate! I can see Johno breaking up the play next season and fer being more advanced, I know we still got wes as our better players attacking wise but I''m thinking more for future? And I was thinking of a 4-1-3-2 formation that''s why I paired RVW and hooper upfront, like u say if we ever do sign hooper?!!!!

It''s crazy that out of that team only Ruddy and Martin are left from our Championship season, and if some would put Turner ahead of Martin, then just Ruddy. We are evolving quickly. Hopefully not too quick :/

Updated with Fer:

GK: Ruddy, Bunn, Nash.RB: R Martin, Whittaker.LB: Garrido. Olsson.CB: Barnett, Turner, Bassong, R Bennett, Ayala.RW: Snodgrass, E Bennett.LW: Pilkington, Redmond, Surman.CM: Fox, Butterfield, Howson, Hoolahan, Johnson, Tettey, Fer.ST: Becchio, RVW.

Fer makes the 25th man, as Redmond is under 21. Given that there are two gaps up front, central midfield (especially if you sort of count Surman there) now looking very crowded and set for a cull. The same true to a lesser extent at centre-back, and to a greater extent if we are still after Alderwereild or someone else.

Atleast one sole striker and someone who can perhaps fill both attacking mid and be 4th striker.

Along with anther real solid central defender ideally,

Would be awesome.

3/4 signings left me thinks.

Some of those players don''t have to be mentioned in the 25, hence like bellers was at man city and ward last season.

So I still think another wide player/ attacking midfielder may come into the mix, I still think we are looking for another wide player.

Obviously the centre forward depth is still an area we are working on. It is great that fer can go out to the states, rvw can show his class but we know when we come back we will be linked with other forwards. Les hope we can sign that next striker ready for Brighton and braga.

But again some of those ''25'' may not be considered at all. We need depth upfront so I can see that now and then maybe in January another player in, but we know the ridiculous fees in January.

It''s exciting for this club, the players and us

True, but we can''t play them. I can''t see us having players hanging around, with us paying their wages, for well over half the season. We are not Man City. We will surely either loan out or sell the surplus to requirement players.

I agree purple, but we did it with ward I can see there are a few players there that we loaned out or barely played at all. Either way those I am not bothered about if we bring in quality. We will be looking to offload and as I have said many times it is not doing these players any good as without games they will drop off the radar of clubs in the championship etc.

Fer is an exceptional signing to hat group, a group who found it hard to find there feet for the last half of the season so a great great signing

Squad balancing up nicely now. Another striker, another CM and perhaps a CB for me.

Would get by with simply another striker though.

Think we have enough in the wide areas. A Quagliarella type and an Alderweireld type and think we could feel like the squad re-shaping was complete

Fox, Barnett and Ayala are the obvious ones to be left out or moved on.Given that Butterfield only signed last year, and Hughton seemed to be a fan, I think they''ll keep him and try to see how he develops.Surman''s a funny one, but since his best position is left tip of the diamond, and Hughton doesn''t play that formation, I fine it hard to see him staying. With presumably 2 strikers and a centre back coming in, I doubt Hughton will want to fully max out his 25.

Surman has a role in a three man central midfield with Pacey wingers outside he is fine if you have fer and either tettey or Johnson in the other midfield position.

We will see... I am looking forward to better players coming in but Surman scored some goals his first season in the prem... Fox didn''t so for me fox is first to be. Looked shipping out from midfield

We are already up to 25, anyone else coming in over the age of 21 and we are going to have to start getting rid.

It is two strikers and a winger that I feel we need, I think eb has a lot to prove this preseason if not we need that fourth wide player and I still think we needed him when Redmond signed.

But I trust Hughton his record is very good in the market and Olsson can play more advanced. But I do think at the moment we still need that great goal threat hooper and another striker is what is required.

A very exciting time to be a NCFC fan.

As said, we have 25 players plus Redmond who is U21 if as McNally has said there are more signings to come then players need to leave

Barnett- definite, his loan was about being in the ''shop window Ayala - doubt his loan was to develop him with a view to a longer spell at CRFox - hasn''t really featured much recently and now looks a bit ''light'' compared to what is coming inButterfield, could well go back out on loan in a make or break seasonup till now we haven''t really sold anyone, only letting players drift away so to speak - Holt was the change in that policy and I''m not too sure if anyone''s place is still absolutely certain and so it maybe that one or two favourites might follow Holt out of the doormy dark horse is Hoolahan

You are not the first poster to put that on your wishlist. The trouble is I am not sure there are that many players around who fit that description. Certainly not many who can play up front in a Grant Holt-style line leader/target man role. Toivonen is one such, which would explain our interest, but also possible interest elsewhere.

I think he needs to be a player that can play with RWV when we need another goal,Rather than a player to play up front on his own. I think in games where RVW is unavailable, Beechio will be used as like for like.We then need a second striker, for cover and rotations.

I think we need another 2 strikers and an attacking midfielder. I think we have enough wing options now and I''d be happy enough at CB with the options provided by Bassong, Turner, Bennett and Martin although it appears CH is looking to strengthen there.

Toivanon was an interesting target as a hybrid AM/S. I''ve always liked the idea of having a big man playing behind your goalscorer, winning headers for his partner to run onto. Sutton and Larsson proved how effective it can be if played correctly. Target men are rare enough these days though. Target men who can link play through the midfield as well are incredibly difficult to find.

With better players some in our current squad can show there talents certainly I feel Howson will show his qualities, some of Course will fall by the wayside. But that is improvement of the squad and what we all want.

I do think that our midfield needs another starter, we were quite inept and although fer comesi n as a starter and allows Howson to play more advanced I still believe we need a headline maker, out wide or as an attacking midfielder ie competition for hoops.

I am def keen for strikers to be our priority we need back up and quality back up. I would like us to be in a position where in January we do not need to go searching for another striker. 2 would be ideal so we can play with more than one striker at times.

We need cover with becchio a very capable striker with natural goal scoring pedigree. I truly believe he will score, but we need a class above to compliment rvw.

Again it is all very exciting.

A number of people said Dempsey.

He would be great behind rvw and competing with hoops. Would have been great for this tour for exposure. But I also feel he would grace our field with class and leadership with some exciting players around him. He certainly would feel part of an exciting team rather than a big fish as he would have been a year ago with the quality we had.

He would be part of an exciting team. That attacking midfielder is a tough position but we are linked to two very exciting forwards. Hooper would be a squad forward, so the two international strikers we are keen on would be amazing,

Love this time of the season.

That Mrs Miggins is exactly the starting line up I would choose with the squad we have today. I don''t think you need an enforcer when you''re playing 5 in midfield and you have a player like Fer box to boxing alongside Howson.

Maybe Olsson for Garrido, depends on how those two do on pre-season but Garrido to be shifted by Olsson imo.

Redmond adding to the options on the bench.

I''d be happy with that team starting the first game so any additions are going to be exciting!
We still need two strikers, possibly three if Hughton is unwilling to play Becchio.
Yes this was my concern last season and real worry now. We have let go Holt Jackson and Vaughan and have only RVW as replacement. We all know getting a good striker is the most difficult signing and yet we keep getting backs and midfield like last season.

If RVW gets a knock we are in real trouble. I am sure Hoots knows this but I am concerned like with January he has not seen it as priority. Hooper sshould have been priority or an equivalent talent, maybe even risk Charlie Austin as back up who will be cheap after Hull rejection.

But agree with poster must at least get two more strikers in squad evn if one a loan.

To be honest surprised more of squad not moved on, such as Surman and Fox as can not see them getting even on bench now.

Intersting times for more senior canary fans , success in past used to mean we ended up selling best players as in the Chase era now its buy buy buy, mainly thanks to good financial planning and massive boost in Premier funding
