Jersey Canary 180 Posted August 14, 2012 I think we need to make 3 new additions before the transfer window closes and ship a few out:OutVaughan - (assuming he has asked for a move of some sort) loanC Martin - Sell - £250k - £500kS Lappin - Sell £0Adeyemi - Loan to a Championship club (make or break season for him)Smith - Loan out to Championship side (again make or break season for him)InLeft Back - Izaguirre is a decent shout - or get Naughton back to cover LB like last season but play RB when everyone is fitCentre Back - Curtis Davies is doing the roundsCentre forward - I have no idea. Someone with pace who can turn a defender would be good as we have 2 big lads already so that counts Rhodes out for me unless you buy him as a long term replacement for Holt but that doesn''t solve our quick Defoe like option. I appreciate Defoe is out of our league but someone like him would be excellent. What do you think?
Bws Cat 0 Posted August 14, 2012 I agree with everything except for Vaughan and buying Defoe.

Jersey Canary 180 Posted August 14, 2012 I never said we would buy Defoe but someone like Defoe (cheaper). I think we should give Vaughan a run and see how things pan out but it may be a case that if he is not starting he needs games to get his body used to playing again so 6 months on loan may be just what both parties need. Bill 1,788 Posted August 14, 2012 Keep Vaughan, definitely as to who comes and goes that is subject to so many variables ie other not releasing players until they have ''replacements'', no one interested in those that are surplus to requirements ...... so we will have to wait and see
ricardo 8,033 Posted August 14, 2012 As the days tick down to the big kick off with very little action on the transfer front, I am more than ever convinced that the four signings I was told about will be all we get. If we have a poor start there could of course be a panic buy before 31st Aug to placate the fans.Does anyone out there really believe that there is any substance in the Curtis Davies, Izaguirre, Owen, Traore rumours? No?, neither do I.Loans however, could still be possible.
KeelansGlove 0 Posted August 14, 2012 No I dont believe these rumours but I also dont believe the plan was to have a weeker squad fort this season than last year either.poor in defence 4 out 2 in ?One Striker released ??
smooth 114 Posted August 14, 2012 A few of our players need to look for their own careers. Jackson etc so it will be very interesting I do think we need players in but a few players need to look at themselves as they will get little game time and hence leave on free transfers. Good luck getting clubs when you have barely played first team football for 2years.
PurpleCanary 6,378 Posted August 14, 2012 Hughton can hardly have been clearer on Saturday. Instead of a cliche about "always looking for new players but happy to go with what we have" he made it plain he wanted to improve the squad, with transfers in, in the plural:“What’s more important is more competition in the squad, so we are working very hard on ins, not outs."That may be panic in the wake of a poor result. Much more likely is that it has taken the last five or six weeks of training and pre-season for Hughton to finalise his ideas and then work behind the scenes to bring the targets in. Evesham Canary 0 Posted August 14, 2012 How many spaces do we have in the squad as it stands?I think we would get more for Martin around £750K. Would also look to move on Barnett for £500-750K too. Get in Davies as another CB and maybe the Garrido rumours are true. Would loan out Steer, Smith & Adeyemi (with a recall clause on Steer). A striker would be great but not sure who to be honest!! Hog 0 Posted August 14, 2012 We currently have two spaces unless anyone coming in is under 21.......

Mr Brownstone 0 Posted August 14, 2012 Nothing to stop us having 30 players. You just can''t name them all. If the right player comes in at the right price and we''re already at 25 then someone like Lappin may find themselves out of the picture.
Morisons Prozac 0 Posted August 14, 2012
We currently have two spaces unless anyone coming in is under 21.......
You can have as many as you want only the 25 chosen can play so if we must we can have someone like Chris Martin sitting there twiddling his thumbs rather than not signing a striker as we already have 25 players. According to the Daily Mail''s list the top six clubs have only signed 13 players so far. Man City have only got in one. That will change before the transfer window (which is the real cut-off point rather than the first day of the season) shuts. And in doing so will make players available. Even if we are looking to buy someone from below us in the food chain we may be having to wait until the selling club has tied down a replacement.
Branston Pickle 4,145 Posted August 14, 2012 Look at the squad we started last season with and i cant for the life of me honestly see how you could say this one is anything but stronger, even in defence (other than at l/b -where we clearly need cover and CH will be fully aware of this fact). IMO you can almost see Ryan B as a new signing, effectively an early replacement for Zak, who hardly played in the second half of the season. Turner is a good solid PL defender, Whittaker a solid performer. When you consider we started last season with sicknotes Whitbread and De Laet at c/b this is a far better prospect. KeelansGlove 0 Posted August 14, 2012 Just as an aside I think we should have signed De Laet as a full back. looked class when he played there
Katie Borkins 1 Posted August 14, 2012
I never said we would buy Defoe but someone like Defoe (cheaper).
Simeon Jackson is a cheap version of Defoe, just as Hoolahan is a cheap version of Snodgrass and Holt is a cheap version of Andy Carroll. We need a quality left back - Stephen Warnock from Aston Villa would do nicely as he''s fallen out with Lambert already - and I would like to see us buy someone like Aguero or Tevez (but cheaper) plus a player like Yaya Toure to terrorise the midfield (but cheaper).
