InLambertWeTrust! 0 Posted November 22, 2010 We''re hardly in decent form ourselves.Being confident always seems to come back to bite us.In the years since I''ve started following City I''ve lost count of the games we''ve lost when going into it confidently (Fulham away anyone?).I really really hope we win but I am by no means confident.OTBC
Adam NCFC 0 Posted November 22, 2010 Because we have belief in the ability of our team? Why would you go into our biggest game of the season not feeling confident? No point thinking, oh we''re not playing well so probably won''t win (even though we are playing well, just maybe not getting the wins we deserve). Be confident and excited, and know we can win.Don''t take the Grandad view on things.

Gingerpele 0 Posted November 22, 2010 CT, that is complete bollocks, you are the most confidant OTT person ever when it comes to this game...nearly every comment on here, and on facebook is about how we are going to thrash them.....

Brendo 0 Posted November 22, 2010
Yeah exactly. Am I just setting myself up to be disappointed?
It''s a Derby mate, anything can happen. Form means nothing (well not much) and it can be v. hard to predict. Personally, i''d like to think we will win at home, but maybe not at PR. [:(]
Jim Smith 2,591 Posted November 22, 2010 I agree that it feels dangerous to be confident. It is also true that with Norwich confidence often comes before a fall. However I have much more faith in this manager and this team to get things right than I have done for some time. I have no doubt whatsoever that they will be up for it and they will give a fully committed display. I also think that despite some of the draws we have been playing some of the best football we''ve played all season in the last few games with several players showing signs of hitting form. Its really only a bit of bad luck and Mr oliver have stopped us from taking a lot more points.
Woman in the Stands (WITS) 0 Posted November 22, 2010 I think we are confident that we can hold our own in this league. We have a manager who inspires confidence in the team, the board and the fans.We are confident that, no matter the half time score, that Lambert will dig deeper with his ht talk. We are confident that we are going to cheer on a team that is proud to wear the City shirt. We are not over-confident with would be far more worrying.

Largey 0 Posted November 22, 2010 It''s an overused expression in todays football, but I believe the first goal will be key on Sunday. If we score it, our fans will be getting behind us like anything, and they will be feeling the same pressures they have done over thte past few weeks. If they score first, their confidence will be boosted tenfold, and all the pressure is on us.

? 20 Posted November 23, 2010 Does it really matter if us fans are confident or not?Either way, if we win we''ll be ecstatic, and if we lose we''ll be absolutely gutted. If you''re feeling confident about the game enjoy it! It won''t make a jot of difference to the result, but it''ll save you a few nervous days of worrying about the result!

kdncfc 28 Posted November 23, 2010 Never feel confident in a derby but the one thing I do know is that I''m full of hope for the future now we finally seem to have a decent manager and some half decent players that want to play for us, even though we''ve drawn a lot of games recently I think we are playing much better than we were in the early weeks of the season when we were winning more often.Whatever anyone may say Ipswich have some decent players and if they click they are capable of beating anyone in this division but the one thing I do know is that they''ll have to be at the top of their form to beat us on Sunday. Salopian 1 Posted November 23, 2010 Why not be confident? In the last two games we have played some very good football and reduced the defences of two promotion hopefuls to panic, We should have won at least one of the games. We know that we can score goals, and most players in the team have now contributed.I will agree in one respect - the defence has the habit of conceding silly goals on a regular basis. If they can be trained to play properly and consistently, then confidence could improve there as well.
a1canary 0 Posted November 23, 2010 Why are we confident? Well, maybe confident is the wrong word for a derby game, we all know anything can happen, but it''s pretty obvious why we are more ''confident'' than we have been in a long time. We have a great manager, good players and are playing well. They, on the other hand, well, let me elaborate...Right now them under Keane remind me a little bit of us under Roeder. They are slowly falling apart, from the inside out. On a given day, everything can come together and they''ll play well but generally the manager is just too highly strung for the players to ever be fully relaxed around him. As a result, more often than not the wheels come off and the overall trajectory is a downwards one that is impossible to arrest because of the personalities involved. They are in a huge mess. Keane is heading down a dead end road where he leaves in the summer and all the while they are out of the promotion picture, this puts the club in an impossible position. There seems little chance of him quietly finishing up his contract, shaking hands with everyone and walking off into the sunset having achieved precisely nothing in his years at Poorman Road. Even if he wanted to stay until the summer, why would you want a manager in place who has fallen out with the fans and is about to leave, and therefore has no real interest left in the club? Assuming they don''t manage to mount a serious promotion charge, you want someone else in to start rebuilding asap, not someone who is leaving in a few months.Much as we want him to stay, defeat for them and i feel pretty sure they will conclude promotion is out of the picture and bring the curtain down on a period of Keane''s career that will have seriously damaged his future managerial prospects. A victory on the other hand, and it could be enough for now to convince the board to see if they can challenge for a top 6 spot, but all that will be out the window of they lose the following game.
