Bill 1,788 Posted March 3, 2010 The binman-in-chief Simon Clegg has adnitted that the relegation threat is real. Wow, who would have thought that for a club who has spent the best part of the season struggling at the bottom of their divisionAfter such outstanding insight our resident scummer supremo has " already studied the way other clubs have reacted to the blow of suffering relegation"However, with the usual grasp of reality that pervades poorman road, Simple Simon has decided " it was far too premature to consider the fall-out that would come with dropping into League One, especially with nearly a third of the season still remaining"It''s actually a quarter of the season but then who is counting .... clearly not this dimwit. For those not aware Simon Clegg chosen by Evans yet admits himself that " I’ve come from completely outside of football it was undoubtedly a steep learning curve " and regarding transfers "Having not done it before last August was a bit of an education to me in terms of the way football operates"I would beggar believe were it not the hapless paupers. I can only imagine the uproar from our fans had we appointed a Chief Executive who freely admitted that he hadn''t really any idea how football worked. This incompetence is all too reminiscent of the red faced idiot they had before who had not considered that the ''mighty town'' might ever be relegated or that such a possibilty might need to be budgeted for. In fact the clueless clown was still assuring the deluded farm hands that everything was in good and sound financial order a couple of months before they went bankrupt !Odd how it was us who didn''t need a ''fire sale'' when we were relegated, were able to appoint and pay for quality boardroom staff, able to strengthen the squad around Xmas time and look to be going straight bcak up after one season.I can only wonder what would happen to the paupers were they to go down. Unable to meet the most basic of debt payments the subsequent loss of £2.75m TV money could be an almost fatal blow to them.Maybe Mr Roy could organise a sponsored dog walk for them. blahblahblah 2 Posted March 3, 2010
Unable to meet the most basic of debt payments the subsequent loss of £2.75m TV money could be an almost fatal blow to them.
So we almost want them to stay up then, don''t we ? I mean, would it be the same if there were no Ipswich ?Mind you, if the increasing debt is owed to Evans, I suppose it doesn''t really matter until he gets bored and tries to flog the debt ? You''re an odd fella'' Brendan. The majority of town fans acted like t**t''s when we got relegated. Brendo 0 Posted March 3, 2010 Yeah, well obviously I love the fact they aren''t doing well, but come on, they are never going to get relegated in my opinion. And if they did, they be cocky then. It doesn''t even look likely.
Clean Shirt 0 Posted March 3, 2010 oh ye of little faith. we were saying that last season. There is every possibility that they could go down. And even if they don''t after abuse I took last year I''m more than willing to see them suffer
morty 0 Posted March 3, 2010 If they get relegated I shall laugh till I literally soil myself.Honestly, all the scum fans were insufferable when we went down.
a1canary 0 Posted March 3, 2010 Can''t see ''em going myself. I could see a lot of the teams behind them making a good recovery up the table - Sheff Weds, Reading, QPR - but that still leaves Peterborough (surely already down), Plymouth (also with a serious mountain to climb) Scunthorpe and Palace below them. Don''t think Hart is right man to rescue Palace. I can imagine a ironic tale emerging where Warnock sends/helps to send Palace down when he takes QPR there in April. birchfest 401 Posted March 3, 2010 Peterborough and Plymouth look certain, but I think Palace could still turn it around and cause problems for Ipswich... either way there is nothing for the binners to be happy about this season, where as its looking like the second coming of Norwich city! The Great Drinkell 51 Posted March 3, 2010 Did you know that their current league position of 17th is the highest they have been all season? I didn''t but hopefully it means they can still worry.
O.T.B.C 1 Posted March 3, 2010 I would love it, love it if they did but I doubt it will. Shame. Dirty bastarrds. Remember when they came down and was waving money in our face, I would like them to eat shiite and get relegated.

Bury Yellow 2 Posted March 3, 2010 Like Blah, my problem with all this is, Mucus Evans owns all the debt. He could keep them going for quite a time and still invest enough money to at least keep them in the Championship. My worst fear is if they realise that they must get a decent manager!!
Bill 1,788 Posted March 3, 2010 "! and still invest enough money to at least keep them in the Championship "Which begs the question of why hasn''t he done so already. Last season when they were just outside the playoffs a few loanees could well have seen them in the playoffs - a place there where they would have easily recouped that money. This season again has not seen the supposed investment. As stated it was us that brought in players. Clegg admited that they had to loan out players just to get the funds to bring in a couple more Sunderland cast offs. Does that sound like money being made available ?While Evans ultimately ''owns the debt'' as he owns the majority share in the club it is rather like a yacht towing a tender behind it, The yacht can dump anything into it and take out anything it needs yet still remain as a seperate entity.Yes, there is fun to be had at the binners expense. Not so much their plight, that as was inevitable after the red faced buffoon bankrupted them, but that the dimwitted farmhands are still convincing themselves that their impooverished club has the money to not only avoid the inevitable slide but to actually get promoted !Anyone who bothered to read the original share offer would have seen that a club being handed over for less than £4m and needing a loan of another £8.1m to meet short term running costs was pretty much on death''s door. The paupers lost £10m at the last accounting period. The only way to avoid losing that amount again is to cut expenditure, unless there was some massive outgoing that pushed that loss up. So far there has been no item that matches that. Simply reducing their losses will cut deep into their expenditure ie player wages. That suggests the best they can achieve is to reduce the annual losses. How on earth does anyone envisage them beginning to pay back the £40m plus that they currently owe ?Far from investing in them or backing them Evans has screwed them when they had little or no option but to accept. The original loan of £8.1m (part of the supposed £12m investment!) is currently costing them £580k a year. If he is supposed to be backing them why is he charging interest on the full amount (£25m) that he paid off to NU and not the amount it cost him ?Finally this is not a smug sneer at our poverty stricken neighbours however well deserved after last years gloating from them, but perhaps a realisation of where we are and where we could have been had we followed the bleats on here to be ''ambitious''.We have been in Div 3 for a season. Every likelihood is that it will be for the one season. A season I might add that many of us have enjoyed, but have no wish to prolong. When the paupers finally drop don''t expect them to bounce back so quick. We know who owns our club, we pretty much know what is spend, and on what. Consider the difference down the A140. Because we know who to shout at and who to blame. For the poor old paupers it could be anyone sat in one of the 12,000 seats around poorman rd on match day.And as the months move on you''ll understand why Marcus Evans wants to remain as the invisible man. The discontent at poorman road could well rise to a murmur of anger.RIPswich

birchfest 401 Posted March 4, 2010 Personally i dont think Ipswich would cope in League 1, their attendances would probably drop to below 10,000 a match as the are only getting about 15,000 odd at the moment!

Jacko 0 Posted March 4, 2010 Just can''t see it. They are now 4 points clear and are starting to pull over from trouble. Their current squad is better than the one we were relegated with. However given the rubbish I had to put up with when we went down I would be over the moon is the binners went down.
Clean Shirt 0 Posted March 4, 2010 Pure scum and that''s all they will ever be!
Bill 1,788 Posted March 4, 2010 The original post was not so much a comment as to whether they will be relegated or not, more a response to the hapless Clegg''s remarks about relegation.Their attendance figures should be taken with a huge pinch of salt. I occassionally work with a binner. Reasonable chap, none of this ''we''re all cockneys, glorious history stuff ''and he says he is often amazed at the attendance figures quoted after the game. They certainly don''t reflect the number of fans inside ground. The season ticket sales at poorman road have been artificially held high by the numerous guff chucked out by the club regarding promotion to the premiership. It will be interesting to see how many renew this year after what must, even for these simply folk, be the final nail in the delusion that Evans was funding some promtion push. He is not. However what still remains unanswerable is -They lost £10m last year - Where will they cut to stop those losses occuring again this year ?They owe £40m plus - Where will they get extra income to begin reducing that debt ?This presumes that they don''t have any drop in season ticket sales. Shaun Tilly Lace 0 Posted March 4, 2010 I still think that the lucky bastards will avoid the drop.
Wembley_Canary 0 Posted March 4, 2010 I''m convinced that they will just do enough to stay up, and as much as I love to see the binners suffer, I also love the EA Derby. I hope they stay up just so we can do the double over those scummy * next season.
blahblahblah 2 Posted March 4, 2010 With 38 points from 33 matches, they are doing just enough to stay safe. It would only take a further loss of form to stick them in the mire, but they do appear to be hard to beat, if often incapable of winning - 10 draws at home says a lot.As for their money worries, if Dr Evil gets bored of them, I''d imagine they''d go into admin again.
Bill 1,788 Posted March 4, 2010 There''s no need for ''Dr Evil'' to get bored with them. He''s got the corporate facilities, the training ground to use for free. He gets to use the paupers as a handy tax loss and I don''t doubt he''s using Clegg''s Olympic connections to muscle in on other sporting events. As to whether they stay up this season or not, it matters little. The fun will be had watching them slowly sink to the level their debt cheating ways deserve. Funnier still will be when, what is blindingly obvious to anyone with an IQ in double figures, finally sinks into our slow witted neighbours.Believe me this only the beginning. It is going to be a long and slow, painful demise.
