@NYCANARIES 0 Posted January 7, 2009 He is a left back! Why can we not sign players who are dedicated center backs.
Jim Smith 2,339 Posted January 7, 2009 Short term, paper over the cracks solution but then that is what we have been reduced to these days. " month loans from tinpot clubs who we can''t even afford to buy if they turn out half decent.Looked ok in a couple of games I suppose although he did get hauled off at half time in a Middlesbrough game I watched on TV after he was recalled last time (can''t remember who against) as he was having a mare. @NYCANARIES 0 Posted January 7, 2009 Chelsea. They lost 5 nil and he was in at right back. In fact he hasn''t played cb anywhere but with us.
Yellowbeagle 0 Posted January 7, 2009
He is a left back! Why can we not sign players who are dedicated center backs.
I''m with you on this one, I''m glad he''s signed for us but he is a left back who is able cover in at centre back due to his height. I would prefer to see a more recognised specialised centre back got in i.e Ward or Bruce but thats probably not possible due to the finances unless we sell, so I would rather have Grounds than nothing at all. My main worry is having 3 loanee teenagers in our back line, learning from inevitable and understandable mistakes they are going to make at our expense for the benefit of their parent club. I guess beggars cant be choosers though.
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted January 7, 2009

Roeder is the problem, another ''unwanted by anyone else'' loanee won''t fix anything!
thats why Boro were so reluctant to let him join on loan and even when they did made sure they had a recalll clause, the guy is on the fringe of their first team and is very highly though of for the future. I suppose you''d rather have Drury there if it meant not having another loan in there
And after March 7 when he goes back? then what? The fictures start getting tricky then, but at least we''ll have Drury, and remember, this smarty pants, a player now has to make way so Grounds can play for us for two months.Building team spirit.....the Roeder way![:S]
what a stupid thing to say! we''re back to where we are without him, you''d rather we signed a poor player rather than have a very decent player for 2months? ricky knight 0 Posted January 7, 2009 well we will be flying up the league now then.
city-till-i-die 7 Posted January 7, 2009 middlesborough defender GROUNDS signs on 2 month emergency loan from borough.....good signing even if its only a loan we are very short in defence...now for a striker/strikers
lynn canary 0 Posted January 7, 2009 Good news but also bad news about Hoolahan. Has anyone else noticed that when he was playing left mid and he was playing awful but was still starting. Now that the manager seems to have found a good position for him and he is starting to perform, he is trying to ship him off. Roeder just seems that he wants to doom Norwich, if so then he is doing a truly fantastic job.I really do hope w get a new manager soon and i really do hope it is someone that has had links with the clubs and that truly cares about the club. I remember Iwan Roberts saying that he applied for the Norwich job when Worthington was sacked, sign him up DeliaCome on you yellows !!!
if I promise to behave 0 Posted January 7, 2009 What is the bad news about Hoolahan? I''ve read some unsubstantiated gossip about Leeds being after him but nothing about Roeder wanting to ship him out
lynn canary 0 Posted January 7, 2009 Roeder will not stand in the way of a move. He said that he is too lightweight, he was supposed to be Huckerby''s replacement. I am afraid that i also think that the David Bell rumours will be true.
shefcanary 2,462 Posted January 7, 2009
It is good news but being for just 2 months is odd - cant see Stefan being back by then and we then have no other centre back at the club then.He did impress me while he was here tho
I think March 7 is close to when the Loans window ends - probably the aim is for Norwich to hold back in case his injury flairs up again and they need to get another "emergency loan" in quick before the window closes! Sensible thinking for once.
Captain Controversy 0 Posted January 7, 2009 A great move by GR, Grounds sure did shore up the defence before he had to go back, albeit not with Docerty. I can see the 2 having a good partnership though.Well done on a good signing - I think we''ll end up with him for the season unless ''Boro get short at the back again. Tim Allman 1 Posted January 7, 2009 Spot on Jim. The game he was having a mare in was against Chelsea where he played right back. I do think he''s a decent player though.
Barclay_Boy 0 Posted January 7, 2009
http://www.canaries.co.uk/page/NewsDetails/0,,10355~1508913,00.html
WOW Incredibly exciting, who would have thought we would have been able to afford a Middlesboro reserve, and for a whole two months! We are truly going places. Wonder if there are any other wonderful suprises during the transfer window? Can hardly wait.

grantroederdisaster 0 Posted January 7, 2009 Good signing who should help us be more stable at the back! Otsemobor will be spending time on the sidelines then as Omorzussi has to play!

one 4 the future 0 Posted January 7, 2009 Good player not realy solving the problem tho, suspensions or injurys at Boro and he could be gone after playing as little as five league matches, sorry at the very least want to see Bruce & Ward brought in then just maybe i can sleep a little easyer friday & saturday evenings[|-)]

Jonzey 0 Posted January 8, 2009 Phew a defender in, albeit on loan for two months. Grounds showed he is a very competent player in his previous spell. The negative side to this deal suggests that a permanent CB signing is not coming in this transfer window. Very disappointing.
