we8wba 0 Posted January 14, 2008 dont clubs learn with foreign signings? not just norwich but other clubs toi mean with what happend with dave striker the last thing you need to do is spend large chunk of your budget on some argentianan riski mean if the fee was 100k like some hulgarians or something then yes its worth the risk but to be spending 500k on player who isnt proven in england i wouldnt.does anyone agree? or is it just me being awkward and looking for problemswould you like to see this guy at your club? I mean look at the gems Coppell found at Reading. Buying any player is a risk, whether he is Argentian, Czech, Hungarian or English but thats why they call it a risk and while I agree that £500k would be a bit too risky consider we have a tight budget, i feel we shouldn''t be put off by past experiences. I don''t know anything about the guy to be perfectly honest so I can''t really say how much of a ''risk'' he will be and to be honest, it is only a rumour and considering Illiev got rejected cause of a work permit, I can hardly say Delorte signing for City
judderman 0 Posted January 14, 2008 I have to admit, I''m not particularly impressed by his scoring record, and wouldn''t be at all excited if he did come. However this story has come from just 1 sunday newspaper story, so at the moment it doesn''t hold any weight. Tom NCFC 0 Posted January 14, 2008 We do need a target man and this guy is 6''6'' and has got a very firm header on him!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_Yr-l4o2Us&feature=related
King Beef 0 Posted January 14, 2008 Agreed, it would be a risk at that sort of price, but I have heard of him, quite powerful I believe and is good with his feet despite being so tall. I dont know what the standard of football is over there, perhaps its better than the Championship, but its certainly very different. Not the best scoring record either looking at his Wikipedia status, better than Brown, mind!Saying that, a one legged donkey could give Brown a run for his money...Anywho, here''s the link for his wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alejandro_Delorte

Inch High aka Inchy.. 417 Posted January 14, 2008 I fully trust a manager of Glen Roeders calibre to make the right choices. Peter Grant was imho on a different planet. He will not sign him without looking/knowing what the guy is about.
Hog 0 Posted January 14, 2008 He holds an Italian passport, but I doubt he would be much of a "hidden gem" at 29, you would have thought that someone else might have noticed him by now! I think his record at the beginning of the season was 171 games with 41 goals. I think he had an abortive attempt at European football with Brescia, Serie B, a while back, but most of his career has been in S America. If we are looking down there, I would much rather see us after someone a little younger
we8wba 0 Posted January 14, 2008 i didnt know the fella was 29 either, as mentioned above he could quite easily be a gem as be a flop i just think norwich slightly above relegation zone need a proven championship player rather than a foreign chaphow about danny webber? Grando 336 Posted January 14, 2008 we8wba, why do you even care who we may/may not sign? I certainly have no interest whatsoever in whoever the mighty Wolves sign.
Boris 62 Posted January 14, 2008 with totally overpriced english players I admire outside UK signigs and not see that gamble is too big becuse often price is very normal and most of players is hungry to settle on this better world.Last week with Iliev saga many people have big worie abouth that is from Eastern Europe but if we see facts I not see too many failed players around. If we talk about Bulgarians who come last 5 years in England no one failed.Kishishev played many years here and at normal level deserved his money for sure Svetoslav Todorov before injury was best striker at championship and mostly with his goals Pompey is in Premiere league.Berbatov not need to say anything ,Martin Petrov also great player in Man City ,Stilyan Petrov 8 years played CEltic and VIlla good player too so this is all Bulgarian players that is on UK last 5 years and not see any one failed and go back!Of course with this visa permision not see how this Argentinian will granted but this is other story.Somthing out of topic ....Last from Iliev is that they agree 5 k per week wage and also Roeder say to player last midweek that he will start against Barnsley if all is ok but then come confirmation that will be very hard Iliev to receive work permit and all colapsed. Remember guys and gals roeder is an expert talent finder so much so Wenger wanted him to be director of football at Arsenal. So it says it all. I trust his judgement and if we do sign this guy he could be a "risk" well worth taking.
BigFish 2,283 Posted January 14, 2008 It is all made up. Go figure.....what is the chance of this guy getting a work permit?
Michael Starr 571 Posted January 14, 2008 What''s the source of this? I bet the players agent contacted half a dozen British clubs by placing a pin in a map... "my client would like to play in England, or Italy, or Spain"... and suddenly, we''re about to part with half a million.I''ll be honest with you, I know nothing of this player, and his apparent record "at a lower level" does not inspire me. However, if Roeder is considering him then fair enough, he knows more than I do, and i''m sure he''s done his research as opposed to youtubing and wikipeeing a name which is what i did. I''m not opposed to signing foreigners, but that amount of money for someone whose track record is not brilliant wouldn''t be worth the risk.
