Canaries Canary 0 Posted March 6, 2007 According to a friend of mine, Safri went to get a morgage and let slip that most of the senior players dislike Grant.I can imagine Safri dislikes him but I hope it doesn''t apply to the rest of the squad.

geo374 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Players hate Grant? If true I can guess the reason - after a couple of seasons of just doing the bare minimum they are now being trained hard and made to work to earn their wages - what a shame!
BedsCanary 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Big deal if the players hate him. Most people hate their boss - as long as he gets them performing and brings in the results it doesn''t matter.

XXL16 0 Posted March 7, 2007 This topic was interesting, but I would like to ask the question to myself:Did I hate my manager at work?I would say I did because he always ask me to work OT, work OT and work OT! Which I did not like him about that; but, not a big problem as I still work for my company and get my wages. So, can I apply the same to this one? Won''t care the players did not like their manager, but they still need to do their job -- on the pitch
Ankles50 0 Posted March 7, 2007 I''ll take Mr Successful over Mr Popular any day of the week thanksNice guys finish last is often true & not more so than in sport
norfolkchance1 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Personally I think this is good news if this is the case, it means that they are having to work hard. Hopefully this will lead to favourable results in the long term.
macdougalls perm 0 Posted March 7, 2007 I can just imagine the situation. Hang on a minute, I''m just off to tell some random dork who works in a bank some of the secrets that I won''t tell anyone else. Very likely! And, JB, I think that the point about the mortgage is that it demonstrates an intention to remain living in the area. And that doesn''t suggest somebody who is deeply unhappy with their current situation.

For a start, there''s the obvious point that if players really can''t stand the person they work for, they will look to leave. PG is treading a very fine line. There are different approaches - think Ferguson vs Mourinho. Both successful but very different attitude to players. Ferguson''s relationship with his players is built on cool respect and no small amount of fear (think stam, van nistelrooy, beckham), whereas Mourinho''s is clearly built on friendship (i think he''s having a secret affair with John Terry for a start!). Grant is choosing the Ferguson route but it''s tough because he''s not in a postion at this stage of his career to command the sort of respect the Ferguson can. Hence the fine line between pushing the players over the edge or pushing them to perform.I think we''re all recognising that PG is not afraid to say it like it is and to be pretty harsh on his players, even when they have performed pretty well like last night. They won''t want to hear some of what he''s said after last night but in the cold light of day, he''s right to because mistakes were made and we''ve lost the game. The summer will be our first indication of whether he''s on the right side of that line - mass exodus of key players or all staying put. Here''s hoping! In his case for whatever reason it could well be true, he hasnt had it all his own eway with Grant.Grant`s not there to be liked he`s there to do a job, which I think he is doing very well. These are professionals and likes dont come into it.
percyvarco 0 Posted March 7, 2007 This has been reported on another forum but that time Safri was in the Market Gates Shopping Centre.next he will be taking out an ad in the EDP

AP16 0 Posted March 7, 2007 Who cares. If you saw the reaction at the end of the game vs. lutonwhen we scored the late winner, the whole team including subs andcoaching staff were celebrating together. For a long time I haven''tseen such strong signs of togetherness between the players at our cluband I very much doubt that they "hate" him.Yes there are improvements to be made etc.. but through most of Grantscomments at the end of games - he recognises that majority of theproblems that we do. It''s a damn site better than Worthington winding me up even more by banging on about positives when were totally crap.
