chicken 0 Posted January 31, 2007 Nice one guys. Very funny. For my money Etuhu on form is probably the best midfielder we have had at the club for some time. Sure Francis was good but how many goals did he score from outside of the box as you would expect good midfielders to get?

Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted January 31, 2007 Confirmed - Robinson is gone. Its a good feeling to have his inflated salary off the wage bill. Coming from Sunderland I dread to think what it was.... £8000 a week is a more than likely figure as our average was £6500.
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted February 1, 2007 Robinson hasn''t deserved some of the abuse he got. He has been prepared to do any job asked of him since he has been here and it''s not just been a case of giving 100% Andy Hughes style. Robbo is an international footballer with easily enough talent to play at this level. Don''t get me wrong, I am happy enough to see him go because Safri is much better and Robinson will always be associated with when it all went wrong for Worthy.Grant has to put his own stamp on the team and that can only be done by shipping players out as well as bringing them in. As you say getting his wages off the bill is a good thing, i imagine we are paying both Lappin and Fotheringham less than we paided Robinson.

ZLF 335 Posted February 1, 2007 But it seems a bit sudden. He was first alternative cover at centre back and both shax and dion are struggling so that leaves who Hughes? Surely we could have kept him until a couple of games until the situation was solved and then agreed to terminate his contract, leaving him free to head to america? Our centre back position is now disasterous. [/quote]Spot on Zip!!!Also while Robbo may not of been the best player in the world.. I really can not understand why he comes in for just so much stick on here... Is he any worse than any of our other midfielders (Safri included)??? I do not think so!!!
Evil Monkey 52 Posted February 1, 2007 Notice there''s no "leave your tributes to Robbo" thread... mostly because it would be filled with vitriol, and mostly rightly so... unfair criticism, my arse! The guy did absolutely nothing for the team in all his time here and Worthy''s combination of Hughes and Robinson in central midfield is one of the reasons we did so poorly. So long, and thanks for nowt!

Francis was aggressive, could pass the ball, and used to get into the box regularly. For the first 6 months of 2004-5, he was even Premiership class.Etuhu is often clumsy and lethargic. He seems to have mastered the art of hiding in games, avoiding taking responsibility. His good performances can be counted on the fingers of one hand. The frustration is that he clearly has all the physical attributes to be a top player, and has shown occasional glimpses of it. But, as Preston fans said too, not often enough
