Dexx 0 Posted December 20, 2006 Another pathetic comment .If he has not relised thats never going to happen with the current squad then hes in the wrong job...
Hartsons Gut 0 Posted December 20, 2006 When do the auditions start? I think it will be a dissapointing drama, since i dont think they will find a braveheart. Are we talking about football. I do think that some of our players need body armour and swords if they stand any chance, but it may be against the rules. Im confused.
mbncfc 1 Posted December 20, 2006 Definitely. It should have been more along the lines of..."Beejeesus... The sooner January comes and I can replace this no good bunch of James Blunts the better. And to think they call themselves footballers..."I think we can all agree that this kind of comment would have the desired effect... [:D]Come on Grant, stop beating around the bush. If only he gave less of a toss to what we all felt... [:P]
7rew 0 Posted December 20, 2006 What should he do?Give up until january or try his hardest to get some points out of the 3 games before then.I know what I want him to do. (hint the second one)I also know what would happen if he did the first, he would be run out of town, probably by you.
Old Boy 0 Posted December 20, 2006 You didn''t spot that the "braveheart" thing was a headline, not a quote from Grant? Read the piece rather than just the headline, and you''ll see that waht he says makes a lot of sense.
Bogbrush 0 Posted December 20, 2006 Good call Dexx, we have heard this sort of vacuous comment from management and players alike many times over the last few months. Completely pointless and meaningless.
tel 0 Posted December 20, 2006 Have to agree, another silly statement from Grant and I think one we have heard before, the team didn''t listen first time around (think it was before the Sheff Wed farce) so why would they take any notice pre -Wolves away. I am one of those who are uncertain about Grant because he has inherited a load of crap but why doesn''t he drop some of the ''no hopers'' like Utuhu and Crapinson, surely there must be youngsters who would at least give it a go, we will most likely be beaten at Wolves in any case so what more can we lose. I can''t believe there are young reserve players who could possibly perform as badly in midfield as those we run out week after week to what must be the absolute delight of opposition managers. You can imagine in the opposing team dressing room ''great news lads, Robinson, Hughes and Utuhu are in midfield so just by pass them, they will let you do it anyway''

ZLF 335 Posted December 20, 2006 More players having the committment of our last braveheart, Gary Holt, is exactly what we need, as long as its combined with and not at the expense of ability - a return to route one football because that the only way we have looked threatening in the last 2 games would be a backwards step

Its a shame his actions haven''t exactly followed what he has said in any way shape or form. He talks the talk, but he doesn''t walk the walk unfortunatly. Pyro Pete 2,354 Posted December 20, 2006 Of course, Braveheart ends with the hero being put on the rack by the enemy. Sound familiar?
John Boubepo 0 Posted December 20, 2006 It''s kinda funny really, the only time the Jocks have actually won anything is when Mel Gibson has played a part, surely a statue or monument is in order
First Wizard 0 Posted December 20, 2006 I think you''ll find that William Wallace ended up hung, drawn and quarted!.

macdougalls perm 0 Posted December 21, 2006 JB, so you''re racist as well as recalcitrant - nice combo!
macdougalls perm 0 Posted December 21, 2006 Sorry, of course I meant ''nationalist'' rather than ''racist'' - neither of which are particularly desirable or helpful traits IMO.
Cluck 0 Posted December 21, 2006 macdougall''s perm"Sorry, of course I meant ''nationalist'' rather than ''racist'' - neither of which are particularly desirable or helpful traits IMO".Another little gem perm. So who exactly does the personal name calling?Cut it out and lets rise above this stuff eh?.........
macdougalls perm 0 Posted December 21, 2006 If you think that is an acceptable way to talk then good for you I suppose. I actually know quite a few people who would be ridiculously offended by his comments regarding William Wallace and, historically speaking, not without good reason. I think he is bang out of order but, you are right, I can''t believe I rose to it.
fleggy 0 Posted December 21, 2006 McD''s Perm - who appointed you as the arbiter of what is or is not acceptable. I see nothing wrong in national pride either in this country or in Scotland. S.N.P. ring any bells?

John Boubepo 0 Posted December 21, 2006 Macdougall -I''m not sure if it''s the content or the volume but I''m not used to one poster giving me so much attention macdougall, I only popped out to the shops and on my return - three posts by you, all on this thread, all aimed at me. by you!Well if I''m the racist/nationalist you say I am, I guess the Scottish Assembly will be putting together a lawsuit against me? the good thing from my point of view, they will never win the case, "never take my freedom" well not unless they have employed Mel Gibson as their prosecuting lawyer of course!I think if the Pink''un award an annual prize for taking a thread far too seriously, I think you have just won it by a mile for 2006.I''m not sure if your fixation is with me or Mel Gibson but just for the record - I''m the good looking one, Mel is the guy who makes anti English films
macdougalls perm 0 Posted December 22, 2006 It is the content of your posts, I can assure you[:D]. Anyway, one of the three posts you mention was actually in apology for taking it so seriously but I am still disappointed that this type of offensive comment (and I mean your suggestion that hanging, drawing and quartering was too good for WW) is deemed acceptable.I don''t see what the SNP has to do with it - do you think that the same comment would be okay in relation to WW1 veterans (or anyone else that we hold this dear) - of course it wouldn''t, there would quite rightly be uproar if I posted anything similar. In fact I remember the national outrage when the war graves in northern France were desecrated. And I know I will now get a barrage of abuse about this comparison but, believe me, many Scottish people that I know are tremendously defensive over the memory of Wallace and what we, as ''the English'' did to the bloke who was standing up to our oppression. And, no, I am not the arbiter of free speech but equally I don''t see why this should stop me from making comment as I see fit.Anyway, as I have already conceded, I should lighten up - Happy Christmas[<:o)]. Syteanric 1 Posted December 22, 2006 Didnt the Bravehearts lose at the end??? After "best player" Robert the Bruce turned Defacto... Earnshaw to Ipswich then Lol!jas :)
John Boubepo 0 Posted December 22, 2006 William Wallace was around during 1200/1300 centuries, I''m pretty sure most Scots don''t have a memory of him Herb, they probably have some affection for his distorted part in their history, which was distorted even further by the film Braveheart, I don''t begrudge them though, watching that film gave them the best 90 minutes most of them have ever seen on a field, It''s just a pity they lost as usual!Seriously tho Herb I wish you a merry Xmas and a good 2007, at the end of the day it''s only a bit of banter and you are always a worthy adversary, looking forward to further banter next year, take it easy JB
