Too much competition from the Lion and Castle?

Lion & Castle only opens on a match day except for special events of which there has only been one.

Bit by bit, slowly but surely, one by one the lights are being turned off at Carrow Road. Concerning.

Is it? Plenty of restaurants struggling right now. Many of which have far better city centre (non match day) footfall too. Hard to staff too. And not worth the cost if hardly anyone is coming through the door. Sign of the times Id suggest, rather than a unique problem at Carrow Road.

It's a shame for the people that will lose their jobs because of this.

The location is not entirely ideal as coming from the Riverside direction you walk passed better eateries to get to it. Carrow Rd is just about an ok location for a football stadium, although supporters from the north of the city/county might disagree, but for anything else it's just too out of the way.

I'm surprised Delia's has survived as long.

For those in the South Stand having their eyeballs boiled by the lights on the roof of the City Stand the sooner the better.

It would be interesting to see the Business Plan for Delia's near £1 million investment.

Especially when it's next door to a hotel.

Amazing how Boots Pharmacy has been closed on at least 3 times recently due to lack of staff in Lawson Road

City restaurants  packed to the rafters

Hardly a night goes by in our used to be  good EEN when they are not promoting another restaurant opening

Yet another part of the club that has been Mis managed

you couldn’t make it up

You just have! Where is your evidence for mismanagement?

Large numbers of restaurants of this type ‘casual dining’ have closed recently. On Riverside itself both Fatso’s and Frankie and Benny’s have shut.

Why did the Club invest in a new pub with such a poor environment for pubs in general then reduce provision at their original pub/restaurant due to reduced footfall only a matter of months later? The Commonsense (or lack of) appears clear for all to see in relation to the first cash injection from S&J in many years.

The ‘ investment in a new pub’ was basically a refresh of the Russell Allison lounge to increase footfall and turnover on matchdays , eg by opening after games ( and for special events). The new pub does not open on other days.

Yellows is also very busy on matchdays, so the new facility has not detracted from it.

Is matchday only viable for 2 separate venues?

Where does all the extra alcohol consumption come from on match days to sustain another venue when there has been no crowd increase?

I’m not sure what you mean. Obviously on matchday there are other venues on site such as Delos’s, the fanzine, the kiosks and concourses in the stands. As I pointed out the pub is not an additional venue but an upgrade on a former one!

Because the chef thinks she knows food and restaurants but knows bigger all about football. It’s supposed to be a football stadium, not the food court of a shopping mall.
