Midlands Yellow 4,107 Posted January 4 When we were direct but good with the ball too. Love these matches from the archives. 1
shefcanary 2,474 Posted January 4 Yes, got pissed on in the River End. The Howard goal is still a vivid memory! Sweet as a nut! And Forbes as a ball playing centre half, two assists! Who'd have thought it! Frankly that had slipped my memory! And the Luton player standing right in front of Paddon's long throw! Sending off these days! 🤣🤣
Kathy 745 Posted January 4 Yep! John Ryan was playing for Luton that day. Loved that sightly paler yellow shirt.
Duncan Edwards 2,271 Posted January 4 Atmosphere seemed very flat. The reaction of the fan with the umbrella to the (second?) goal was something to behold.
Conrad 179 Posted January 5 Yes. I think that this was one of my earliest experiences of standing in the old Barclay.
Gordon Bennett 794 Posted January 5 Polite applause for a good finish by the opposition, love it.
Hairy Canary 711 Posted January 5 Good stuff. Forgot the old TV gantry in the River End corner. Used to stand in that as a kid when it wasn't being used when we could get away with it.
Robert N. LiM 4,545 Posted January 5 Love the camera angle. Found the first few seconds very confusing until the goalframe appeared in shot. 1

I was 11 and it was my first experience of visiting fans at Carrow Road. PS where do Canaries take their birds? Times have changed 1

Jimmy Bone - Superstar 2 Posted January 5 Yes, John Ryan played mainly in midfield for us though and scored a few pile drivers as well!!
Mutley 79 Posted January 5 Yes, I was there aged nine standing at the front of the South Stand. The memory is a bit vague of that particular game but Kenny Foggo was my hero then and his song resonated the stands for many years to come and well after he stopped playing. Not sure if the connecting turnstiles were still in place from the River end then to move over if it started to rain? And John Ryan was a superb player for us - he could certainly could hit a ball very hard.

Sheva 124 Posted January 5 In the days when you could leave the Barclay walk around to the River End via the South Stand and fill in the away fans, if you were losing. Better days , you needed to be there to understand.
