Pockthorpe 540 Posted December 14, 2022 That’s magnificent to see . What an absolute legend Duncan Forbes was. Footballer and man. My Dad knew him and as a young boy I was lucky enough to meet him a few times post match with my Dad for a drink. He would shout (loudly) .. Duck … low flying haggis. I did . It got me every time ! Much to his amusement. 1
Robert N. LiM 4,482 Posted December 14, 2022 No disrespect to Gabriel Sara, but that is much more like it.

CANARYKING 644 Posted December 14, 2022 Quote from the Daily Mirror years ago - “ if it moves, he’ll kick it. If it doesn’t move, he’ll kick it to make it move, then kick it “ But never been sent off !
Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 1,039 Posted December 14, 2022 Love it, as other have said a Norwich legend and a great man. We used to go to watch Norwich train at Trowse and Big Dunc would always chat to us and if he spotted us out and about he would make a point of stopping and speaking to us......... Definitely after big Dunc and of course an agreement that we liked the name. My first suggestion Martin Peter never came close to agreement. But can't imagine little Dunc as Martin Peter so the wife was right (again) 🙃 1

The Real Buh 3,480 Posted December 15, 2022 Dare I say it, the club may have actually done something right? I guess the law of averages was that they would hit the mark eventually.

TIL 1010 4,792 Posted December 15, 2022 Duncan once told me that he was only ever once carried off the field and that was shoulder high.
TIL 1010 4,792 Posted December 15, 2022 Duncan back in the days of him running Club Canary would often stand at the back of the queue when the coaches stopped at the usual refreshment locations and boom out ....Crocodile sandwich and make it snappy.

"Forbes collected his customary booking" is a quote from a newspaper report on a Norwich match. It was also suggested that the referee should book Forbes in the dressing room before the match, to save time on the pitch !
