Interesting re the doctors, but I still reckon that the 1% was never going to happen and 4 % will be offered so the PM can use this to proclaim ‘ how amazing he is ‘.

It's all kicking off now.

Last night when it was suggested that Gove would be getting the health job people were saying that it would be 'out of the frying pan into the fire' and hashtagging Sarah Vine.

Sarah Vine (aka Mrs Gove) writing 'cryptic' article in the Sunday Mail about beware the woman who knows your faults.

Cummings (it could only be him) briefing that Carrie appointed Javid and the reason Cummings had Johnson sack Javid when he was Chancellor was that he had become Team Princess Nut Nuts.

The house of cards is about to crumble. 😀

Well now!

Looking forward to the security footage of Govey snorting coke off a sex-worker's buttocks. Actually I take that back, no one could "look forward" to that!

I cannot remember seeing a more elegantly elliptical way of saying you heartily detest someone and regard them as a dangerous idiot.

The horrific reality is Johnson only has the respect of despots like Orban and Trump. On the world stage Johnson is regarded as a joke, and the UK public as idiots for voting him into power.

Yes, not bad for someone speaking in their second, or is it her third, language?

If she had learnt the swear words her comments may have been less subtle.

Quite so and the reason I thought worth quoting. It is poetic in its simplicity, almost mournful and lamenting and certainly resigned.

It shows quite a mind to say this because of the thoughtfulness ....and accuracy. Best summary I've seen.

Even this vignette is superior in content to his prepared speech (with his pathetic punchline about Dortmund and Dusseldorf and sausage wars). Moreover, his was pre-planned (and of course inaccurate!) and her remark was made in the 'here and now'.

This is immodest of me, but from a few years back:

Phone conversation recorded by GCHQ this evening.

MERKEL: Hi Manny, how did lunch go with Mister Floppy Hair?
MACRON: Pretty weird start. He said it was probably the first time a UK prime minister had met a French president and it was the Anglo-Saxon who’d had all the mistresses.

MERKEL: Was Brigitte around to hear that?
MACRON: You’re joking. I’d arranged for her to be in the Limousin, judging a tap-dancing festival or some such. I wanted the talks to go badly, but not THAT badly. Couldn’t risk her puncturing his narcissistic ego the way she does with all pompous men. Anyway, nice trap with that 30-day nonsense. I know he isn’t the brightest but even so – falling straight into that one.

MERKEL: No fool like a floppy-haired fool. He tried really bad German with me but at least he didn’t say “I am a hamburger” like poor old Kennedy did. He attempt French with you?

MACRON: “Oh yes. At the end of the meal he tapped his approvingly stomach and said “Je suis plein!”

MERKEL: Is that wrong. Doesn’t it just mean “I am full”?
MACRON: Only if you’re speaking franglais. Everyone in France understands it as “I’m pregnant.” I imagine some of his ex-mistresses might find that rich in irony. They do irony, don’t they, the English, if not much else nowadays?

MERKEL:  He mentioned Greenland; whether I thought the Danes might put it on the market. Said he was asking for a friend. I suggested he approach the Greeks about buying Spinalonga. They’re hard up. Probably bite his friend’s hand off. Nice little uninhabited island. Perfect for a hotel-casino complex.

MACRON Wasn’t Spinalonga a leper colony until 1957?

MERKEL; Well, yes, but Americans aren’t fussy about that kind of thing are they?! Love to Brigitte. Wish you’d let her attend the lunch.

MACRON; You’re evil, you are!

At least we now know why an ex-Chancellor was made Health Secretary.

Its not even making headlines anymore though. Very little collateral damage to Boris.

Home Secretary Priti Patel must bring back to the UK an asylum seeker who arrived via a small boat and was later deported to France in the next 14 days, a High Court judge has ruled.

Another costly failure (funded by the taxpayer) to add to Patel's very long list of egregious illegal actions.

Yet another shocking story. Why on earth are oil rich wealthy despotic countries receiving UK taxpayers millions? And why is the government doing everything it can to prevent transparency over the nature of these "donations"?

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/watchdog-launches-investigation-into-ministers-use-of-private-email/ar-AALQvNZ?ocid=msedgntp

The Information Commissioner has launched an investigation into “concerning” suggestions that private email accounts were used by ministers at the Department of Health and Social Care.

Elizabeth Denham said she has “served notices on the department and others to preserve evidence relevant to my inquiry,” and warned that her powers of enforcement include “the option of criminal prosecution.”

The move comes following reports that former health secretary Matt Hancock and current minister Lord Bethell, often used their private email accounts when discussing government business.

In a blog posted on the Information Commissioner’s Office’s website, Ms Denham said: “The role of transparency as fundamental to democracy has never been clearer than in the past eighteen months.”

She underlined how the effects of decisions made by the government about public health and civil liberties, due to the Covid pandemic would be with us for many years.

Ms Denham highlighted how the suggestion that ministers have used private email accounts to “conduct sensitive official business” was concerning.

Watch this clip about Sir Nicholas Winton:

Preeti Patel's changes to the laws about asylum seekers would render his saving of 669 Jewish children from the Na*zi concentration camps an illegal act, and him a criminal rather than the hero he most certainly is. That hideous woman is beyond contempt.

Listened to PMQs today and it was pretty poor. At least 4 times he answered a question, or didn't, and crammed in the vaccine rollout and the final question he brings up the EMA falsehood for the umpteenth time. The Speaker pulled him up, weakly, a couple of times but if the PM willfully lies to the house, and again nothing is done properly, then they may as well shut down this farce.

Priti Vacant Patel must boo at the end of Sound of Music when the Von Trapp family get to Switzerland and they're not sent back to Austria.

I think she's working on another clause to the bill so that she can retrospectively deport her own (asylum seeker) parents.
