New Tory Leader

I don't see why echo chambers get such a bad press. It's rather pleasant not having to constantly correct people's lies and dishonesty and just being able to talk and have a laugh.

Old Bravermann desperate to get a riot going and/or the sack.

People will be duped into voting for Sunak, then find they have actually voted for Braverman.

All they have left are their culture wars and appeal to their dwindling base of racists and bigots. She like many others in the Conservatives have shown to be overpromoted and out of their depth with their Stone Age views. They all need to be swept out and everything they have implemented needs to be repealed.

And that same man is vehemently opposed to what he has read out

Yep. Socialism for the wealthy/Tory donors, rugged individualism for the populace at large.

I think its an early attempt at the leadership after Rishi resigns after losing the election. She is desperate to get those who voted Brexit on Immigration to leave returning to Labour. All those poor people having to put up with rough sleepers in their towns as well.

Funny how they managed to find accommodation for them during the pandemic.

It has just been announced that Braverman was told to edit quite bit of her statement today, but didn’t bother.

Clearly this is a leadership pitch, and clearly she doesn’t give a toss about the whole of the U.K. being at each others throats.

That's exactly what it is. I do feel a little sorry for Sunak as he is basically a dead man walking to the next General Election, and he's got a thankless task trying to keep the differing Tory fractions in a semblance of unity, and the likes of Braverman are basically feral tomcats urinating all over the furniture.

They need to start from scratch and rebuild. Both major parties have successfully done that in the past, but the resulting power vacuums can be very messy affairs, and this is basically what we're seeing amongst them right now.

I sort of agree but really I wonder why he went into politics in the first place. He has absolutely zero aptitude for it and  seems to have no vision that he has been aiming towards.

I think you could argue Thatcher was the last PM with a vision of a property/share-owning populace that was somewhat engaged in the wealth/prosperity made by the wealthiest (but then the argument becomes "did her reforms encourage that vision to become reality, or did they actually end up doing the polar opposite?"), whereas the PMs afterwards were all essentially middle managers.

So I can agree that Sunak seems to lack a vision, but I don't think that's unusual amongst the last few. Cameron hinted at the Big Society, but it was stillborn at birth, really.

As was the his 'Greenest Government ever' promise.

'Big Society', 'Greenest Government ever', 'Levelling Up' - all Tory slogans which sounded good but never had any substance whatsover or indeed any intention of being implemented once the elections were won.

Aye. The "Big Society" idea was a pretty laudable one in theory, but absolutely sweet FA was done in practice to power it.

Funny that when the Met Police is accused of being biased against young black males, the Government say its rubbish. There is no institutionalised racism they say.

But now there is. They are anti semitic according to that evil cow.

Unfortunately I believe there will be trouble on Saturday mainly due to Sunak and Braverman.

There is talk that if there is trouble, Sunak and Braverman should be brought before the courts on incitement charges. Now I realise in reality this won’t happen, but what if it could and they were found guilty. We would likely have a new government then, maybe due to their criminal records we could banish them to Rwanda.

The man, who is being crucified by his own people for incompetence says this

"You know, people still feel hacked off. They voted for change in 2019 and they are drifting back to Labour in those Brexit seats because they're not seeing a changed government.

"Nothing to rally behind, nothing; we are just drifting to defeat."

He added: "The whole thing needs a massive kick in the pants … unless we grip it, the results of the local elections will be repeated at a general election, and Starmer will be a complete disaster...

"I feel a massive, massive sense of frustration that we had an 80-seat majority.

"We had a fantastic agenda. We could have kept the whole thing going."

Johnson also criticised the Prime Minister's decision to raise corporation tax to 25 per cent from 19 per cent.

While the move was first announced in 2021 when Sunak was Johnson's Chancellor, the former PM said: "Why the hell are we putting up corporation tax in this way? It’s absolutely mad."

He added: "Why not cut corporation tax to 10 per cent?

"You know, why don’t we just do what the Irish do? Why not just outbid the Irish?

"We don’t have to obey international norms on corporation tax … I’m frustrated.

Funny how people like Farage are saying quite right that Rose isn't getting a £7M payoff. Apparently it doesn't matter any other occasion. Only when one of them has been stung.

Credit to Topple and Burn on Instagram who posted the photo and asked if Suella Braverman released a perfume what would it be called?

They also make excellent “F*** the Tories” T-shirts, socks and Christmas jumpers.

What a day for Braverman, her dreams are left in tatters ( thank god, or more so Robinson ). Hasn’t been a good day for Sunak either. I suspect the picture below you will be seeing a lot of in the next few days, what you get if you dare to protest against Braverman. Of course they are trying to deflect everything, Braverman’s allies saying it’s nothing to do with her, and Sunak still trying to make out every marcher was part of the hate mob.

As I said on another thread a master stroke by the police letting the press in to see the operation as it happened.

I have posted before that we have a poor quality of leadership. Then, I was referring to the likes of Johnson as PM throughout the height of the pandemic, Hancock as Health Minister, the likes of Zahawi, the idiocy of Dorries and so on. I recall that single digit insult to crowds near Downing St too ( was it Andrea Jenkins... the Education appointee?). Why she wasn't summarily dismissed I am not sure why. It wasn't the expected behaviour of an MP (whatever the verbal provocation from idiots shouting in the crowd...if she had been physically attacked you could understand her trying to defend herself...like the  Prescott incident, even though that was eye opening).

We had to be subjected to idiots like Francois, Rees Mogg, Bone, Bridgen etc of the ERG. There was David Davis too, who Barnier has said later was utterly unprepared in Brexit negotiations. Haven't all of these characters had a brush with karma in one way or another, some in a decidedly devastating manner.

Consider right now, say, James Cleverly, as Foreign Secretary...listen to what he has to say and he is actually vacuous (Blinken seems positively an  intellectual giant in comparison).

The party in power has a real dearth of talent. Johnson then (let's ignore the disaster that was Truss and Kwarteng) and now Sunak, have elevated them to high office for other reasons. I've suggested a few times that many posters here (on the left or the right or centre) appear to have more depth than the characters we have sen in office during the last 5 years (at least). Some of these just don't appear serious people do they?

I agree with you (and Benchwarmer) - Sunak surely must face serious scrutiny now. The latest announcements  in the  King's Speech must be the thinnest on record, indicating the  sheer hollowness of this failing (flailing) administration. Nothing addressing our health service, our failing local infrastructure (councils in financial trouble), the lack of investment in public service, the inherent and deepening problems in the social care sector. It's not just global events that are too big for them (Brexit, the pandemic, the Middle East) but vital things close to home. You only have to watch programmes like Question Time to witness the anger (and listen to often extremely articulate views and understanding  of national problems) of the general public.
