The Positive Brexit Thread

A tip-off for our splendid new Brexit opportunities minister. The Road Haulage Association's chief has warned lorry drivers to get used to 4 hour plus traffic queues at Dover; surely there's an opportunity here for "Rees-Bog portaloos" to be provided every 500 yards along Kent's highways and byways.

Surely you would get your Footman to bring a bedpan, that way you could continue to be wet nursed by nanny.

Just shows the lies spun by Johnson and Farage, they told us there would be no problems and that there would be no problems trading with the EU, clearly they lied.

It was surely us that were pathetic leaving, not other countries treating us like a small nation for leaving.

I also sense your post has a sniff of trying to get people to hate the French.

So @SwindonCanary this is what MPs themselves found out about the impact of Brexit. What a sorry state of affairs.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60308494

Sadly WBB - Anybody, just anybody who was trading globally before Brexit could of told the UK this would be the case well before the vote.

I saw @IceCreamSnow's comments earlier - we all have our experiences of customs officialdom and delays gone mad (even when you have the correct documents) around the world.  We won't even get into loosing CE marking for UKCA and all the extra compliance issues and costs to be absorbed.

Arh well, stupid is as stupid does.

I guess one of the supposed benefits of Brexit was the extra 50,00O customs officials needed! I wonder what the Brexiteers thought they'd be doing if not extra Brexit inspired red tape.

Natalie Elphicke (Con) says the roads in Dover are clogged up. But it is not because of Brexit; it is because of EU red tape, she says.

(This suggests a poor understanding of what Brexit involves.)

Woman who voted for additional 'red tape' is surprised that there is additional 'red tape' and then she blames the wrong people.

She does realise Dover is in the UK doesn't she? But then she did show her level of judgement in marrying ex-con sex offender Charlie Elphicke. Strange she has decided to stick with that name despite their separation.

And she also tried to improperly  influence the judge in his case for which she was reprimanded and suspended.

Some of these people go out of their way to deceive. Some are just really thick. I put Elphicke in the same bracket as June Mummery.

Nadine Dorries doesn't know where Dover is. But she knew a bloke called Ben.

Stranger still that she hangs out with him

And that she loaned him 100k

And that, despite criticising universal credit as an MP,  Charlie made a claim for it once he came out of prison

And that Charlie paid 6 months rent up front for a flat in Fulham, whilst claiming he wanted to pursue a career as a writer, which he could easily do from a cheaper flat in Margate

And that A local in Dover seems to think that 1.6 million pad isn't the only property she (or maybe they) own

Strange old world 😀

This is not a joke. Jacob Rees-Mogg is genuinely asking Sun readers to identify Brexit opportunities for him. Yes, really. Yes, now, 2,058 days AFTER the referendum...

We can look forward to the return of Page 3.

Getting rid of anything that's 'new'.

Re-introducing Jim Davidson Summer seasons at Gt. Yarmouth.

Pans People.

They're Sun readers, so expect a campaign to abolish from the English language any word with more than two syllables.

Yes by they don't bother landing it in this country. All this fuss about fish but how many people in this country eat anything but Cod or Plaice that is battered?

The folly of Brexit.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10497497/200-000-healthy-pigs-face-destruction-pork-industry-faces-continuing-crisis.html

200,000 healthy pigs face destruction as government scheme for foreign butchers to solve culling backlog at UK abattoirs is slammed as a 'waste of tax payer's money' after only 100 take up the seasonal visas

Brexit isn't working.

A return to the 19th Century?. Top hats and tails?

Seriously perhaps we could deregulate the labour market... after all house keepers and staff are so difficult to come by these days let alone nannies.

The UK economy rebounded last year with growth of 7.5% despite falling back in December due to Omicron restrictions, official figures show.

It was the fastest pace of growth since 1941!

Do you need me to repost those charts again? You know, the ones showing how far the UK’s GDP had fallen (and hence had plenty of room for a significant % increase)! and how badly our exports are performing compared to anyone else in the G7?

The UK economy is still worse off than in 2019 - and by quite some measure too.

The simple fact is to the question “are you better off under Brexit” the answer is “no”

Here's a Daily Express article on that subject. Yes, the Daily Express.

Indeed! And the year before it had fallen by more than 9%.

I see that Dyson is now showing why he wanted us to leave the EU.

Yep! A disgraceful exploiter of slave labour  and a fraud (perhaps that explains why Johnson spent so much time with him on WhatsApp during the Covid crisis despite his zero contribution to the cause). https://www.leighday.co.uk/latest-updates/news/2022-news/dyson-accused-of-forced-labour-and-dangerous-conditions-by-migrant-workers-in-malaysian-factory/

Dyson was just as greedy as any other entrepreneur once he realised his product was a money spinner.
