This (Jan) window seems to be taking the same course as last Summer.Put in a bid for:1) A player whose Club is ascertain that they want to release, so decision delayed and eventually does not happen.2) Bid for a player whose salary/ambition is way out of our league.Eventually run out of time, get nothing or panic buy!I thought that groundwork had been done, enquiries made and that we could expect some action early in the window?
......and still nothing despite all the pre planning/knowing who we were after. Surely we would have had discussions with Clubs before the window opened to test whether our targets were likely to be available and at what price. PLEASE do not let this drag on and on and on until the last day!

But its only half the story identifying a target and talking to a club, isnt it? Its like a house buying chain, unless its an absolute duffer that the club want shot of then they have to procure his replacement. So it isnt just about how we do our business, its about how other clubs do.
Of course it will drag on!

You lied in your original op about what had been said. Are you posting again now hoping people will not read the rest of the thread ?

Are you also saying our summer signings were no good ?

Ive been an outspoken pessimist regarding City  grabbing a CB especially, but as its only Jan. 6th, City have permanently signed Jarvis and the imminent Pinto for around 5 mill, give or take a few 100k with bonuses etc. To me thats exceptional business for a January window. Add in the signing of young Diallang, one for the future we hope, and the outgoing of Elliott Bennett, and to be fair thats pretty good for the 6th of January. If by Feb 1st our CB stock remains Seb and Ryan B with Martin as back up,  then it will be Deja Vu, but 3 and half weeks to go.

If you mean it''s still raining, then yeah it does feel like summer.

If you''re referring to the transfer window, then wait another 4 weeks (of the 4 1/2 week window) and then we''ll see.

Were the players signed in the summer not good players ? or is it your opinion that only star named or huge fee players are all thats required ?

4 of the big summer spenders were Villa Newcastle Sunderland and Bournemouth all below us.

The point is that if signings are to be any use to us this year they not only have to be recruited but integrated into our squad/style of play and the implication was that business would be done ''early'' for this reason ie not at back end of January!

So far (although I admit this might be media talk) all we hear is that those we approach do not fancy us and there appears little indication that we will be successful with our first choice targets.

We must not lose sight that this window is very different to the Summer equivalent and the longer this drags on the more desperate Clubs get and finish up with second rate players.

If we get to February and we have not signed a new striker or more importantly a CB then they would have failed. But failure in no way represents a blame, i am positive everyone working for the club are doing their utmost in trying to get the right guys thru the door. Just look at reality, hyper money sloshing around, every single club  in the Prem. out there doing exactly as City are doing. We all know the cause of the craziness is mostly 50% the sky money and 50% the ridiculous boxed in windows of summer and January. Like all other clubs City are governed by these crazy situations.

One additional point is that we haven''t had any games yet where any new signings could have actually played.

If they are any good, any player''s ''integration'' should not take long at this stage in the season - my hope would be that we were getting guys in who can all-but slot in to the current side.

IMO having Jarvis sorted, the young lad and Pinto all-but signed and Elliott B sold this early in the window is good going, and you''d have to be a bit of a plank to suggest otherwise. Obviously if we don''t manage to get Naismith (held up mainly by Everton, it seems?) and/or others over the line come the end of the month, opinions may quite rightly change, but you have to realise it is not just about NCFC.

Almost a quarter of the month gone and no meaningful action apart from the usual crew criticising everything the club does (or doesn''t) do.......

.....oh, and we''ve signed two players and McNally has been good to his word.

Does it still feel like summer now, or are you just going to find another excuse for a dig?

I for one am looking for the remaining 75% of the transfer window.
A crock from West Ham who is well past his best and a right back until 2 weeks ago no one had ever heard of. Hardly inspiring is it!!!!
Predictably, you just looked for another excuse for a dig.

If, as is costly the case, you despise everything about the club, then why do you bother?

Now on the 10th of the month they said we wanted to do our business early

It is the summer all over again you just now the remaining 3 weeks will be the same.

They won''t shift the dead wood and won''t invest properly in new players either

It is all so predictable

About this "dead wood" the club won''t "shift"."Dead wood" according to who? What if no other clubs are interested in having them? After all, if they''re "dead wood" at Norwich, why should any other club want them? If, say, Sunderland or Villa were keen to shift out some of their "dead wood", would you be leaping up and down in excitement at their pending arrival? No, you''d say if their current club didn''t think them good enough, then they''re not good enough for us either and then lambast the club for bringing them in.And what if none of the "dead wood" want to move because the contract they are on with us is too good to simply disregard and they therefore have no intention of going anywhere else unless they get better-which they won''t because, as you have pointed out, they are "dead wood" so no other club is going to want to pay them anything like the high wages we are-the club which, of course, you regularly criticise because they won''t pay "what it takes" to get players-well, evidently we did where they were concerned, so what do you want, exactly?Should we pay them all off and give them free transfers perhaps?

Willo who gets some fantastic info has just put on another thread that Naismith will be signing in the next 48 hours so that should be one less thing to hit the club with.

After another week passes, we lose summer target Afobe and so much on getting our targets in January done early. Two massive away games coming up which we could have done with an addition stiker and a centre-back signing.I know there''s still hope but the longer its goes on it is becoming Déjà Vu.
