The shepherd calls his flock....
danielsroundabout replied to lappinitup's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Lambert: "I’ve never known a crowd to be like this when their team is bottom of the league." That's quite a compliment to their supporters when you consider the vast experience he has had of bottom of the league clubs. Or is he saying that there was less delusion at Villa, Blackburn, Wolves, Stoke etc.- 20 replies

BBC joining in the bias.
danielsroundabout replied to danielsroundabout's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Idiot calling. I had not heard of the late winner. -
BBC just updated their full Championship table with the AV v. Leeds result. Have managed to get Leeds top with one false win and one draw too few. A touch of the Sky bias, or plain incompetence.

My first season ticket was a half season ticket, purchased as a Christmas 1958 present. There cannot have been a better year to have bought a half season ticket.

If it was the only goal of the game it could be nothing but the winning goal. Hardly a consolation goal was it? -

Canary King, you are correct in being pretty sure that the lino didn''t raise his flag at any point, he didn''t and he has to be responsible for the mayhem that ensued. What puzzles me is why Klose''s "offence" becomes legal on the basis that the ball was subsequently deemed to be dead when he committed it. How does that make it acceptable as far as discipline is concerned? Obviously can''t be a free kick but doesn''t alter anything else. -
Err sorry Ben, if it is on another thread I missed it. As in I don''t live on here.

The window doesn''t close today in all countries and the one that I believe is last to close is NO''s home of Portugal. Around 20th September.

Stringer and Farke

In another post today at 10.38am, LDC wrote: "Looking back too far is largely pointless unless people are looking for things to add to their negative outlook." Then, at 12.13pm he came up with all the claptrap in this OP. What a plonker. -
This Comment From Farke!

LDC wrote: The thread is about Farke''s comments, which is what I''ve commented on and no, I didn''t see the match which is why I haven''t commented on it. Not seeing the match hasn''t prevented you from commenting at length on certain incidents within the game, has it? -
which clubs have weaker squads
danielsroundabout replied to Yorkshire Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
LDC wrote: Nexus_Canary wrote: I even applauded their 3rd goal yesterday beautifully worked. It was appalling defending. The player behind our two defenders was in oceans of space to take the through ball and then place the ball where he wanted to. Well taken, but it was a soft soft goal to give away. Come off it LDC, slating our defenders on this forum will do nothing for their confidence. Don''t you know everybody at the club needs all of us to support the boys as Daniel attempts to work a miracle with what he''s been dealt? Disappointed in you. -
LDC As we say in Norfolk, you''ll argue ''til the cows come home. Whose odds were in favour is a total irrelevance. The simple facts are that a header from 12-15 yards should have been easily dealt with (simply by catching it), yet ended up as an open-goal gift to a guy on the penalty spot. Play the footage a few more times. It only took those at the game one viewing to "get it" and those seeing it on the clip also only needed one look. Is there a reason why you are unable to accept what is so obvious to others (even Farke).
-
LDC You are defending the indefensible. The chance was attributable to more dire defending in the RB position, that they scored from it rests firmly with the keeper. Yes, I will accept your invitation to correct you, in an attempt to bring a bit of realism into your thinking. The headed attempt was from a distance of 12-15 yards which makes a mockery of your earlier ''point blank range" comment. It was to Krul''s left but not by much and if a bit of a dive was necessary then so what, in no way does it turn it into a goal worthy effort. As for your comment about your trying to be impartial, its somewhat akin to Krul trying to save that header.
-
Reading a fairly detailed report of yesterday''s game on the Sky sports site, I can now see how anyone not at the match can have such clear opinion (but entirely inaccurate) of match incidents. It reads: Whilst Krul was entirely blameless for the first goal, the same cannot be said of the second." This report sits alongside footage of all three goals which makes the statement all the more farcical.
-
LDC. Point blank range header? 12-15 yards, roughly head-high and just slightly to his left. And he did well to parry it at all? Where were you sitting, in the car park? I am not putting all the blame on the keeper, simply saying that those two routine saves, if made, would have at least extended our involvement in the match. I fully accept that for that first goal we were exposed for the umpteenth time by a forward getting the wrong side of our man in the right-back position.
-
ref89 wrote: It''s hardly his fault he is exposed time and time again. When you find yourself 2-0 down at half-time to a couple of goalkeeping howlers, I find it hard to agree with ref89s assertion that it''s hardly his fault. With most posters and journos concentrating on the "near post maxim" in respect of the second, Krul is tending to get away with light criticism on the first. If he was unable to hold on to it and I saw no reason why he couldn''t, surely he could have pushed it sideways to safety rather than out to the pen.spot. Certainly we are allowing more strikes on goal than we should but a couple of regulation saves would have left us all square at the interval. Instead we were in the dressing rooms, an already beaten side.

Russell Martin again
danielsroundabout replied to kick it off's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Nutty Nigel asks: If Russ was never in a million years a decent centreback how on earth did he continually get selected to play there? You are asking the exact same question that so many of us have been foxed by for years, or certainly ever since he declared himself to be a centre-back. It would seem that the Rangers supporters do not contain a contingent who are prepared to turn a blind eye to his shortcomings. -
Jim Smith wrote, 16/04/2018: Great Guy but as I have always maintained he is not and has never been a centre back and I think other defenders find it hard to play alongside him because positionally his instincts are those of a right back and he get dragged out of position and consistently caught under the ball/wrong side of his man. Bennett was always a far better defender but on a couple of occasions got dropped so Martin could come into the team even when Bennett had not done a lot wrong. Couldn''t agree more with all that JS says, and I was therefore completely mystified by the decision taken in July, to give RM an extension to his contract, meaning we are committed to paying another passenger for a further season. Also, I wonder what others see, that leads them to believe that he is coaching/management material. I realise that in his capacity of captain in recent years, he has always been prolific in his verbal output but much of this has been spent on self-promotion and distancing himself from havoc that he has created. Most supporters realise that he is incapable of organising things from within the touchlines, what is it that suggests he could do so from the sidelines? I believe that, as with his playing credentials, his adoring fans see qualities in him that simply do not exist. Experience of the Gunn/Adams model should tell us not to go there again.

After a truly embarrassing performance both during and after the game, Rowett finishes with "I''m not going to bleat about a decision". Top man.

Would the signing of a new contract immediately before leaving have anything to do with getting a compensation fee out of Leeds?
