  1. I'm loving the posts which sell, loan everyone apart from 7 players. Pre-season would be very constructive.
  2. We need 6+ points from the next three games to get a playoff momentum going. Don’t care how but preferably with a win at Blackburn. Three draws and it’s over.
  3. Gary Neville has strong opinions about this government. How do we know? Because he says them. How do we know he is a Labour supporter? Because he was a guest of honour at the party conference. If Lineker worked for Sky he could do the same. He decided to sign with the BBC, which has impartiality clauses and code of conduct around politics for obvious reasons. I happen to agree with him about Braverman’s choice of language but that is completely immaterial to this case. It’s a matter of what is in his contract or not. This remarkable campaign to paint Gary Lineker as a Rosa Parkes hero of injustice would be comical if it didn’t plunge another intricate complex subject into another illiterate culture war. Also, have you ever met someone who lived in the Soviet Union and mentioned you think this country is approaching a Fascist State to them? I find the most passionate defences of British liberalism come from those who know the difference first hand. They are often angry and hurt because such comments belittle their suffering. P.S The major advantage of having a non political head of state (the King) is the fact it’s near impossible to become a fascist state at governments need permission to form and the military and other important bodies swear allegiance to them not the government.
  4. I think it’s unfortunate that this has turned into another culture war when it’s actually a simple matter of what is in his contract. Whether you agree with his statements or not is immaterial. Gary Lineker has a contract with BBC, Gary Neville has one with Sky. Neville is a vocal supporter of the Labour party and this doesn’t breach his contract terms. Lineker has strong opinions about the small boat’s situation and government policy, expressing them openly is deemed a breach of his contract. This is not a matter of freedom of speech, Lineker is not Rosa Parkes. If Lineker worked for Sky he can say what he likes but he signed a contract with the BBC instead. It is very difficult not to have an opinion, even more so now with social media. It might mean that the BBC as we know it can’t go on and the licence fee model will have to finish as impartiality becomes impossible, but that day hasn’t come yet. I can’t leave my job and join a direct rival or current supplier without facing legal consequences. I signed my contract. I’m not oppressed, it’s the terms of my employment.
  5. what are you basing this on? Not being confrontational, just not seen anything that confirms this.
  6. Trevor Benjamin? Peter Thorne? Zema Abbey? Ah you sweet summer child. Either that or a short memory
  7. The reason there is a mad rush to get these deals through is because the independent regulator *should* be in place before the next election. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61211255 . It would certainly stop the situation at Leicester where they accumulated 200m of debt and then the owner was able to right it off. Their Wages to turnover ratio was creeping up to 90%. It is utterly broken, but this is a major part of fixing it.
  8. I wasn’t aware of the acquittal. He was found guilty by a jury, Greenwood didn’t get near a trial. I still think it will be different for him because of this difference.
  9. Ched Evans is a convicted rapist, Greenwood has not been involved in a trial let alone convicted.
  10. We don’t release wage details in any accounts so what is the data based on? Hayden’s fees again would not be called out individually in accounts
  11. What a difference a month makes. Vast majority of fans weren't fussed if he left for free.
  12. I didn't say anything to the contrary. You are arguing with yourself.
  13. Another reminder that we have brought in more than we have spent in the Webber era in terms of fees. This idea that we spent big doesn't stack up and we had to sell key players to invest. We haven't been particularly successful in recent seasons but when you fish in the markets we do, there are obvious risks of this. Buying potential (on wages we can afford) rather than fully fledged performers means you hedging your bets and taking a chance.
  14. The set piece coach is this season's Soccerbot 360. A lantern for ill informed club bashing posts.
  15. Thats fine but we still lost at home to a very beatable team.
  16. A PL tier owner can loan the club that money (you can't just plough money in and meet FFP requirements). It is still debt on the club. What happens if that owner wants that money back or has to regain that loan because of insolvency? Having a rich owner doesn't mean you have the golden ticket, in fact the Championship / L1 is a graveyard for clubs who had big owners, who introduced debt, got bored and left the club in a worse state. I'm not saying don't seek investment, but it is nowhere near as straightforward as described.
  17. Can we change the title to 'Football Manager 2023 chat' please?
  18. Why was this latest window a debacle? 'a sudden and ignominious failure; a fiasco' - This is what debacle means to help you with your answer. Can you also expand how he has put our club in financial jeopardy too?
  19. You can trace back the discontent within the club to the boisterous expectations set by Webber at the start of last year aka the bazooka and a couple of grenades interview. Money was spent but nothing near the amount that warranted greater expectations. I think that interview is probably the biggest recent mistake. Selling Buendia was inevitable imo so that’s why I don’t put it as a mistake even though it had obvious consequences.
  20. ‘I love my football club more than anything in the world’ Kirsty must feel so special. She should have pursued that six foot stud in hindsight.
  21. 1. We created the type of chances that on most days would lead to a win. They had a few themselves. No one can deny the keeper had a great game as did Gunn. 2. QPR are challengers for automatic and were ‘happy’ to leave with a point. 3. Burnley somehow gained 10 minutes of ET and required a last minute scrambled winner to beat Rotherham at home. Not convincing and they weren’t entitled to that win.
  22. So no correlation with this interview by another director on a subject that doesn't relate to his area of expertise then. So after being forced to circle back to your original accusation about Webber specifically, this is your position... that it is his fault the Media department didn't raise the content with him even though there isn't much logic in them doing it anyway.
