  1. Happy that he can only get better with improving match fitness and expect him to be a class act in the second half of the season. Don’t necessarily need pace in that role if the ability to read a game is there, although of course it helps. Bit worrying though if it really is assumed in the dugout that full backs are only allowed to get forward if he’s on the pitch – if so one or two rival coaches would soon sus that out and have him targeted for an early kicking. And as for a lack of pointing, I’m told he has been great at bricklaying down at Colney.
  2. On my first day at work on old fa*t there told me I was wasting my future as the paper was done for. Then as previously and as now the industry had challenges. That paper is still there – more than half a century later !!!
  3. Classic deflection to avoid attention being paid to shortcomings. The club needs media more than any media needs them as sweethearts and they know it, as demonstrated by the Pinkun and Athletic lads still having access to the ground. This stuff rarely ends well for clubs and they usually quietly fold in the end, on condition that hacks don't crow too much about it. And before anyone suggests saying this risks putting ideas of a lockout into the club's heads, well, honestly that makes a better storyline - in the past reporters elsewhere have gone through the turnstiles to sit or stand with the fans or been invited into the private boxes of sympathetic supporters with deep pockets the clubs can't afford to pi** off. It's even easier now with the tech tools available to us all. As others have suggested, time to draw a line under this ..... but then again, it's a good running story with lots of clicks and I have no idea if Paddy, Connor, Michael etc were actually in the ground yesterday anyway 🤣🤣 🤣
  4. Wonder if it still works? Btw he allegedly holds a Masters degree in Special Education (or something).
  5. Not as bad a call as it sounds now - interest and belief wasn't as fantastic at the start as we all assume now looking back. Was told a few years later you could still buy match tickets at Wembley for the opener on the morning of the match, though that could of course be an urban myth. I think I just sh*t myself.
  6. It's not what you've got, it's what you do with it. (New mod tester alert)
  7. And who would even have heard of Steeple Sinderby Wanderers without the FA Cup?
  8. No Prem officials appointed for World Cup VAR duties so I expect it to be mostly ok.
  9. Hope he did foul in the build-up to the second. Love it when the knuckle draggers in football have a mirror held up to them.
  10. Going by history I'd say it was better when Yorkshire played cricket at Bramall Lane.
  11. And he still looks baffled by it too.
  12. Need it to go high enough to balance the Leicester books and leave enough left over to sign Emi as a replacement and hand us another sell-on cut there as well – Webber’s a genius 😇
  13. Seems freebies Cambs Times (including Wisbech Standard), Diss Mercury, Thetford and Brandon Times, West Suffolk Mercury and Felixstowe Extra also for the chop after this week's issues, but continuing with an online presence. Ely Standard survives in print.
  14. True, but the funniest thing is the absentees from the responses. Can they really be so dim as to be unsure about it? No don’t anyone answer that.
  15. I’m just the same when we win by whatever means – delighted, in the moment. How we did it doesn’t matter. However, to win a key match by playing ugly can be argued justified but to win promotion by setting out to play ugly just stinks. Not because I don’t like the idea of a coach doing it to improve his chances of making it beyond January in this or any foreseeable season, that’s life, but because that approach, if allowed, risks damaging, even destroying, another wave of young talent which looks like it might, just might, be about to break on the shores of Carrow Road. Let’s not take the product of years of dedication and development at Colney and risk pi**ing it up the wall. If that means waiting a while longer, well if the wait’s rewarded it’ll be all the sweeter. This is not about liking or disliking Dean Smith or whoever’s next down the line, it’s about the soul of the club and to protect that I'd be ok with giving any boss the benefit of patience if they showed that care, whatever anger I might have shown in this last season. And if anyone derides me for saying so I just don't care. OTBC
  16. First pre-season, a few goals, as someone said 45 minutes for 22 players, no injuries we're aware of, seems like Dereham got a decent gate. Looks ok to me.
  17. And Zimbo on the bench tonight - bearing in mind how many centre halves we seem to break this is all no bad thing. Have four and play three at the back one injury puts that formation option in jeopardy. Start the next match with a three and then have an in-game injury and it's an enforced formation rejig - never a good thing.
  18. We all kinda think ‘oh it’s only Dereham’ but for the young lads games like this are big. Play well they keep the dream alive, but if it goes the other way this might be their peak, no-one really knows, not even them or the coaching staff. But it’s good to see years of development work by the club offering up young potential, either by recruitment of players like Riley or by bringing on talent like Warner and Earley.
  19. “Hi Teemu, this guy on the phone wants to know if you want to play most of the minutes in all of the games in a Championship slog, or some of the minutes in most of the games under a top coach with the chance of finishing your career with one of the big trophies, what do you think?”
