  1. If we can get over 12m all up front for a player who has never played in the Premier League, it''s not a terrible deal. I''d love to keep him, and I really hope he is playing here next season. However, ultimately it never ends well when player agents go to the club to push through a move (as being reported by Sky). If he''s asked to leave, it''s better for all parties if he does. We hold a strong negotiating position and should be able to make Newcastle pay over the odds. If Jacob goes, Josh has the ability to step up and it would be a great opportunity for him to take his career to the next level. 12m can also grab us 2 or 3 quality players that will really improve the squad. There are bargains out there, you only need look at Demarai Gray who went to Leicester for under 4m.
  2. 10m take it or leave it apparently. Leave it I reckon. We seem to be financially stable now and only need to accept offers that are of great benefit to us. You only need to look at the incredibly bloated prices being thrown around in the Prem to see how easy it is to sell someone for vastly more than they are worth. I say we stay firm with whatever our valuation is. The article sates Newcastle will look elsewhere if we reject 10m, let them look elsewhere. Either we keep one of our best talents, or Newcastle struggle to sign anyone else and end up paying our asking price.
  3. Very poor performance in my opinion. My concern wasn''t particularly with the defense (although it didn''t inspire confidence). The biggest issue today was a very unbalanced team. Reed was the holding midfielder and looker very tidy, but other than him we had a bit of a free for all of attacking midfielders in front of him. There was a noticeable gap between reed and the attacking players so when Stevenage pressed there were no options to pass to. We also seemed obsessed with going short from goal kicks, but with no options for the defense to pass to we invited a lot of pressure on to our back line. Only pre-season though let''s hope Farke can get them sorted out.
  4. I did find it strange that it was intended for him to stay on. He seemed very much AN''s man.
  5. Mutual consent apparently https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2017/july/frankie-mcavoy-departs/
  6. The club do not need to put a comment out every time a lazy internet journalist invents a story. Webber has dismissed the story when asked and Farke has repeatedly stated he doesn''t comment on transfer speculation.
  7. Looks like Klose has picked up an injury as he has just been replaced by Wildschut.
  8. I just watched the stream of the players arriving at the ground and Nelson was in the squad. Safe to say he is involved then, and hence unlikely to be deep in talks with Reading.
  9. I''d like one more out the door. I think the three left on big money are Klose, Naismith and Jarvis. Shift on one of these and we can bring in 2 or 3 which improve the squad. We need to probably accept that Jarvis is here until 2019, no one is going to buy him. Naismith I think is happy here, and hence we are going to struggle to move him on. Which leaves Klose, who still has a bit of value. I''m not sure we can really afford to sell another CB though. Tough choices for the club, but I''m very interested to see how we move forward in the coming weeks.
  10. I think Oliveira in the hotel is just Readings version of Shola Ameobi in Morrisons. I''m sure he''ll be involved in the friendly this afternoon and we can put the story to bed.
  11. I think this is very unlikely. I''ve seen the site a few times, but I''m not sure how ITK they are In the unlikely case it is true, I would be quite worried. I think he is more important to our plans for next season than Howson was. Pretty sure this is a nothing story though. I mean, Reading of all places? Wouldn''t be surprised if hitc have just seen we are having a flash sale and are making stuff up about our best assets.
  12. It''s a shame Jonny chose to resort to some less than professional measures to get his move. He''s been a bit of an icon for us in the last few years and it''s been slightly tarnished by his refusal to train in a proper manner It will be interesting to see his reception at Carrow Road. I still hope he gets a good one, but we all know football fans don''t take kindly to this sort of thing.
  13. I think most would have preferred Jarvis or Naismith to be sold instead. That said, no one in their right mind is going to bid for Jarvis and I think Naismith is happy to see his contract out. Apparently we are stuck with Jarvis until 2019!? Absolute madness...
  14. We have been conducting mostly terrible business for the last few years now and these sales are us paying the price. Howson is a superb player and he will be missed in our midfield. It''s not a great price, but from the sounds of it our finances do not put us in a great bargaining position. If selling Howson allows us to keep young talent like the Murphys and Pritchard, then that makes it a bittersweet move imo. We have some top quality young talent and we''ve been clamoring for a squad upheaval for years. Let''s give Webber and co the opportunity to invest this money before deciding if it is a good transfer or not.
  15. Looks like a useful signing. I hope we don''t get too many more on loan however. It is very easy to sell and fill the gaps with temporary players. I think we can all remember Glenn Roeders calamitous relegation squad. I personally think two or three is the sweet spot. Lets invest the funds we receive from Howson and Dorrans into some young permanent players.
  16. With all the stupid fees being spent, we should really hold out for over £15m. He is perhaps our biggest prospect for years and has a long term contract with us. If we get £15m, we can invest in the weaker departments of our team. We would also have to wait and see if Josh can make the step-up required.
  17. I certainly think the new proposals are worth some trials. While the halves will be technically shorter, an actual match would last a very similar amount of time to a game at the moment. There is nothing more frustrating than fake injuries and other time wasting nonsense. This would go a fair way to eliminating that stain on the game.
  18. Hopefully this one is more Nathan Redmond than Tony Andreu
  19. 2 years left on a big deal and the wrong side of 30. If we are hoping to recoup any of what we paid and free up some wages, now is the time to do it. We should be able to pull a decent fee out of Rangers too. He would be a useful player next year, but I''d rather invest his value into our back line. I feel the young lads are more than capable of filling his shoes.
  20. Farke-in hell lads. It''s 20 players including the keeper.
  21. Slow news day I think. We''ve got more chance of signing Ruddy back than Stockdale.
  22. Good player, 2 years on his deal, and a club that doesn''t need to sell to a divisional rival... I believe £10m is the current going rate for the situation.
