gary replied to Huddy 's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
been several Charlton Home 87? - ref knocked unconcious by protesting Chrlton players Ipswich Home FAC 83 - Alan Brazil missing an open goal with 2 minutes left and us 1-0 up Exeter away FAC 1990 - Police had a ticket barrier outside , aksing people to show tickets before they approached the ground - countless NCFC fans said " why would I get up in the middle of the night to get here and have no ticket " ( you probably had to be there ) Liverpool away 1988 - lost 6 -2 we scored in the 88th and 90th minute - standing on the steps waiting to go and watching sad Liverpool fans walking past - disappointed to have let in two goals Must be loads more -
Where did "Little Norwich" come from ?
gary replied to blahblahblah's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
And why are we little Norwich - surely that makes our ambitions and aspirations blatantly obvious - Middling championship club , if we get promotion , won;t matter if we come down again - we will still get 25,000 mugs turn up every week and can tell them anything we are Norwich - full stop - to 40,000 people teh biggest and most important club in the world -
Only TRUE supporters go to games!.
gary replied to First Wizard's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I attended my first match at the age of 3 in 1972 - I was a regular at home and away in the 80''s and considered myself a true fan - Since then I have raised a family with all the financial and time constraints that entails and as such my attendence has dwindled considerably to the point where I attend maybe 1 or 2 home games each season - however my son received for christmas , the NCFC strip and annual in addition to the NCFC Advent calendar he had and the FITC courses he attends . So if anyone considers me as anything other than a true supporter I would argue my case strongly - I heard it said once that around 200,000 people consider themselves as fans of NCFC even if around 20,000 actually attend matches -
definitely no myth !!! the guy came from the Yarmouth area if I remember correctly

you do have a choice in the matter - there are two other local stations ( Both with little or no mention of our "friends" ) Radio Boredland lost me as a listener a long while ago and are unlikely to ever get me back - I grew tired of the constant Look at me , aren;t I great attitude of the presenters as well as teh sport for a Norwich station that concentrated on a team 45 miles away Retune your dial and move away - you will happier in the long run

I think the Testimonial for long serving players has had it;s day - they are wealthy indivisuals who have no need for any financial assistance fior their retirement - injured players are differnent entirely I think that Fleming should publicise the fact that some of teh money is going to charity - people may support the evening more - if they knew that I assume teh prices are high , because Newcastle will not come cheaply for an evening here - they can;t be bringing many of their ultra loyal fans either
-
no problem with Flem at all , but I am against the awarding of testimonials now for any professional footballer who has not had their career cut short by injury . He has been a professional for a t least 15 years , spending that time earning far more than most of us can ever imagine - he doubtless lives in a large house , has kids at private schools and lives an extremely comfortable life . I have , as I say nothing against teh man and he has served us well, but to have a testimonial where he receives the majority of teh receipts ( I assume Newcastle won;t come here for nothing either ) - receipts given by teh people who have paid his wages over the last ten years anyway through ticket and merchandise sales - it would be lovely for a donation to a local charity to be made by Fleming as a gesture of thanks to the supporters for keeping him here for ten years I will not be attending this testimonial , this does not mean that I am a Worthy in or outer , that I do not rate Fleming as a player or a person , I just disagree with the concept of lining the pockets of a very wealthy man anyway

i wish Foley , as a person well, I will however boo him for being connected to them lot down the road As I would any player or coach or manager ever who has been there

NAME THAT TEAM - Brighton (a) 1983
gary replied to Pete Raven's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
i remember squeezing into the terrace at the corner of the Goldstone Ground , having a nightmare journey through London each way ( no M25 then ), watching Case cheat his way to the winner , when we had looked good value for a replay and then afterwards , coming out and seeing NCFC buses lined up on both sides of the road in each direction - was a bit of a situation as i recall Great day till they scored -

Greatest Goals Against Man Utd
gary replied to ONeills Free Kick 82's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I was at the Beer Festival that night , they put the score up once the game had finished - cue many choruses of OTBC and much alcohol comsumption - although to be fair that was not influenced by the result -
Norwich Vs Wolves Reaction (Protest, Player Reviews etc)
gary replied to Tom NCFC's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
for me Robinson was MOTM - always winning tackles and playing simple balls well I thought McVeigh was totally anonymous , as was Earnshaw - we were lucky that Wolves are a poor side or we would have lost by more - Aliadere was awful !!! Re teh Lap at the end , I stayed only because my kids wanted to - applauded them as they passed , but still wondering if they took their kids to avoid abuse as people tend to be more reserved around kids - also fans say thanks , players thank fans , but only saw Etuhu and Colin actually on the track and not on pitch - don;t really think players wanted to even do it -
1 Cheat Johnson 2 Columbia 3 yes 4 rioch 5 camilla 6 Sheff Utd 7 Digital Phone Company 8 Neale Barry 9 FLeming 10 Alex Mathie - although that game is erased from my mind

Andy Hughes is a championship footballer - his strength is tackling and winning the ball - he is not a right back ( we had one of those on the bench ) he is not a right winger ( we had one of those also on the bench ) yet our manager chooses to switch one of his midfield players into a position that he is not comfortable with nor very capable of playing in ( not a natural full back ) I have no problem with ANdy Hughes - okay Monday was not a good performance , but he is a 100% effort player who gets stuck in and does not hide - he will never be the most skilful player , but that is not what he is the team to do - he is expected to win the ball and pass it to a yellow shirt - in his proper position he does that - when the manager plays him out of position he struggles - understandably so - I have more of a problem with Etuhu who has not looked interested since he came It is unfair to single him out for Criticism in this season of underacheivement - you look at players throughout teh team who have underperformed - Jarrett , Etuhu , Even Ashton to a degree and you have to ask why ? - are they all poor players , or is teh problem a deeper one , ie with the management of the players , the tactics employed or have teh championship winning players left at teh club become a bit of a clique making it awkward for new players to settle We will probably never know , this season will be forgotten very quickly although the start of next season will determine how quickly - lets see out these last two games re group and really go for it next season = OTBC
-
he wanted to leave when we went down , but then contracts actually meant something - he threatened to strike when we refused teh bid from Man Utd and then couldn;t leave quick enough - he may have scored that winner , but we were only ever a stop gap for him , he is a money grabbing Judas , wh o should never be employed by this club again
-
i myself asked the club that through the official website - the answer was that these votes get hijacked by other clubs fans and the results get distorted - no plans to introduce one any time soon

The Protest....Don't go.
gary replied to Dennis The Menace's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
every fan is entitled to his or her own opinion - there will never be 25,000 people agreeing on whether Worthy should go or not - for what it is worth , I think he should - five years is a long spell for a manager at one club I disagree re Hughes - he is a workmanlike championship footballer , he is not a winger ( where he has polayed on numerous occasions ) he is not skilful or a good passer ( ala Safri ) however you need a water carrier in teh team and he is the guy to do that at the end of teh day , the protest will make people feel better I suppose , however come 3.00 support teh team , and if we win we win - if we lose , then so what - people die , people get ill - football compared to that doesn;t matter really does it -
Team for saturday
gary replied to The Voice of the Thorpe Area's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
has got to be Green Drury Doherty Rehman Shackell Johansson Safri Hughes Huckerby Earnshaw thorne Subs McVeigh Robinson Gallacher Fleming Henderson Hughes is a central midfield ball winner who is content to do Safris dirty work and then let Safri pass to people - I think Hughes is far better than a lot of peopel think - we could alwas have etuhu there instead Johansson has looked sharp in both games I have seen him play and should stay in McVeigh and Henderson both allow further attacking options as teh games progresses
