1. For me he is THE best left back outside of the premier league. So what if he doesn''t offer masses going forward? He''s a left back, his main principle is defending. We have lappin, fox, crofts, wes, surman etc to put balls into the box. He does get forward and put balls in, of which a lot of them i think are actually decent balls, other players just havent read. IMO he is the most consistent player and the best defender we have, and as a forward player i think he offers more than people realise and is often involved heavily in the play going forward on the left flank; playing lots of little passes with Lapps and Hoolahan and trying to play them into a position where they can cross. City Legend.
2. I''m all for snapping up players from lower leagues but there is a limit and that is too low.
3. I thought he was average.. possibly 5.5 out of 10. His assistants however i thought were very poor. Missed quite a lot and gave a lot the wrong way. He isn''t the worst we''ve had though
4. I feel the strikers will find their feet again. But it will be tough against a good Reading side. I''m going for a 3-1 win. Holt, Wes and Chrissy to score for us and Shane Long for them.
5.
If you have read my latest blog you will know how I feel about this. Even so - how unpleasant is this from a Burnley fans'' site? ''A final note to Lambert and his horrible cheating players, if i wanted to spend my Saturday afternoons watching amateur dramatics i would join a drama group '' Charming people!
"Horrible cheating players".. that sounds like the sort of thing that Ipswich idiot would say before declaring we were still off to hell
6.
we get to 2nd by playing a particular formation an then change it to a back three to ''accomodate'' three senior central defenders, We were by far the better side in the 2nd half once we abadoned this experiment, but we''ve basically wasted 45 minutes of football today where we might have been the better side all match!?. I wish we would have trusted our ability and our system and believe that we are a better team than Burnley instead of trying to outsmart ourselves
You need to be adaptable so he has tried something different to see if it will work and it hasn''t. But he changed it and we''ve seen what it can do! I have no problem with him trying something new as SHOULD we go up then we may need to change things against the likes of Utd, Arsenal etc... Adaptability is a sign of a great team.. and the more formations we can play comfortably the better but to do that you need to try in matches.
7.
Maybe its because I''m from Leeds - But I think its all a little bit pathetic! Some supports on here would prefer Ispwich to lose, rather than us to win. I started a thread after the Derby game. Ipswich played Swansea before the game and it was on in the stadium. There was a massive cheer when Swansea took the lead. (Putting them above us in the table IIRC) I thought it was stupid. Everyone slated me!
i agree! I would rather us win and them lose every day of the week as most supporters would. BUT, as it could well prove this season, they could do us some favours! If we are in a better position with them winning then i would also rather see them win! Would we really rather see QPR win and beat us to the title (potentially) or would we rather see Ipswich win and it help give us an advantage...
8. Why are the playoffs the best we can hope for?? Maybe Lambert felt our team was strong enough to not go and spend stupid money! Maybe the other teams felt their teams were too weak and have not strengthened. Our squad is more than capable of getting a top 2 finish and I trust lambert with his decision! Can we stop being so pessaimistic please!
9. I always sed once he was fit he''d be a brilliant centre half for us and i''m glad I wasn''t made to look stupid! I thought it was a great signing wen we got him and I''m glad to see hes staking his claim!
10. A tough team both home and away.. as are Millwall :P I can''t see a lot of goals in it though. 1-0 City - Chrissy Martin with the goal
11. Bogey side, we haven''t won there since the year before i started going... it''ll be tough and they won''t roll over but i think the way our away form has been we should be alright. They''ve got a decent squad but ours is better, if we perform on the day we''ll do it easily. 3-1 City
12. It seems no one on here is happy unless they''re slating someone! Russell Martin, Chrissy Martin, Holt, Jackson, Ruddy and Ward have all had it this season and now Rudd... Ruddy did have a poor start and i did think the Rudd maybe deserved his chance but Ruddy has come on a lot and is becoming a great player for us. But come on, leave Rudd alone! His only appearance this season was in a game where no one was at their best! He wasn''t at fault for the goal IMO. Until he gets a regular run of games you CAN''T say he ISN''T as good as Ruddy and yes, you can''t say it the other way. Lets stop finding someone to have a rant about though, especially those who rarely play!
13. I know they can be a confidence booster and that QPR''s goal difference is massive but i don''t see the big deal with keeping clean sheets. So long as you go and score more goals than them (which Lambert seems to prefer) it''s fine surely? I''d rather go and win 3-2/4-3 than focus too much on defence and end up drawing. Points win you the league not clean sheets. Yes they can have an effect but the goals are more important. 80 points will be around the amount we need to get though, i do agree with that.
14. Although they have said it was built with the vision of another tier, my dad knows the guy in charge of building the stand and he said there''s no way it would hold another tier and that for it to happen it would need to be rebuilt/altered.. I would hope the builder isnt wrong but you never know! As for the City Stand.. i think it needs to be rebuilt, its the oldest stand and could be a lot bigger obviously. It would be good to bring it more up-to-date with the other stands
15. When kings Lynn went under some of their players went to lowy therefore helping their push up the league ATM. I think Lowestoft are bigger ATM but Lynn could come back strong. I also agree it''ll be good for loans etc.. But if we ever played them in a competitive match would it be regarded as a rivalry?
16. Jackson AND Chrissy are both quality strikers!! They both need the first team games and both need that goal to get their confidence back up and If the do I think the goals will start flowing from both of them. I''m fed up of people knocking both of them!
17.
You can find out how long people have left on their contracts here: http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/player-profilesGill, Nelson, Francomb, Dawkin, Askou and Habergham are out of contract this summer - would imagine Nelson and Francomb are the only ones there who might be offered a new deal.
ALL OF THEM should get a new contract (except maybe Gill)... Francomb, habergham and Dawkin are excellent young players and I''d be disappointed to see them leave!! Dawkin is held in high regard I think so will probably get one and Habergham is a future replacement for Drury I feel as Francomb may be at right back as well. Nelson is likely to get one but Askou may be seen as surplus though I feel he is still a great CB. Just have to wait and see.
18.
Far too harsh! Let''s celebrate rather than deprecate...this is the version I''m championing:There''s only one Russell MartinOne Russell MartinHe wears number twoThe Norfolk CafuWalking in a Martin Wonderland
LOVE IT!!!!
19. Good summary.. agree entirely.. one of the worst we''ve seen in a long while. The game was too big for him and he lost control very early on and was never going to get it back! I haven''t reffereed for a couple of years but i think i could''ve kept control of it better than that. Awful!
20.
Ok, Wes was nice to watch, he pings it all around so well in midfield. But MOTM again? Surely it had to go to one of City''s best players this season..... http://tinyurl.com/5r7xaa5
I''m sorry, were you not watching the match!? Wes was amazing today! Russell Martin did well, keeping Bellars quiet and obviously getting the goal but Wes ran the game from start to finish. He was the main attacking point as usual and he did well at trying to open the game up a bit. For me Wes was easily the man of the match and for me it was one of his best performances in a Norwich shirt in all the years he''s been here! Absolutely AMAZING! AGAIN!
21. I want to say a win and a clean sheet. I am, with this one though, unable to see a positive result (only being honest, don''t shoot me!) I''m going for a 3-1 win for Cardiff. Bellamy with a couple, Chopra/Bothroyd (if he''s fit) with the other and Holty with ours. I really hope i''m wrong though, obviously!!
22. i can''t see there being a debate! absolutely MUST be clap him! he was a brilliant player, a product of our youth and he still reacted to the ipswich fans when he was playing for west ham (yes i know it was cos of their reaction to him playin for us but still!) For me its a definite applaud.. i''d love to see him back some time but i dont think it''d happen unfortunately!
23. I thought we put a 15% transfer clause in.. so wouldn''t be massive amount to come to us but every little helps.. In my opinion i wouldn''t mind buying him back.. Better than Ruddy i think however he has been improving and playing really well in recent weeks but i''d still have him back.
24. 3-1 Boro: Lita Us: Chrissy (2) and Holt
25. I''m well aware that he has only been here a day or two and hope that it is the reason for it but he looked extremely poor. He was slow, looked unfit, his touch was sloppy, he didnt seem to know what to do with the ball (but needs to get used to the other players, i understand that) and wasn''t "a pain in the ass" like he sed he would be. He seemed uninterested in getting the ball as well; there were a few times it was a mere few yards from him and he was static and didnt seem like he wanted the ball. I will, of course, give him the benefit of the doubt but his performance today was awful.
