  1. Bit worrying no real money spent to bring players in for the tour and all very quiet. But holding on to the hope that one of the things Webber has previously been very good at is keeping potential deals very quiet and then bringing in players surprisingly quick.
  2. He’s not still young though is he? 22 isn’t a young player, by now he should be an established player. He just isn’t good enough for a championship team. We should loan him out and then sell him
  3. For me this is what pre season and the friendlies are for and the results are not important. These are the games where the likes of Tzolis, Plachetta, Rowe, Springett, Mumba and Idah etc should be demonstrating to Wagner that they are the players who should be given the chance in the team (or at least the squad). I gather that Tzolis and Plachetta made a decent enough start last night but in reality against a team like Barnett their quality should shine (even if performance isn't up to speed due to fitness/sharpness). For this reason I was a bit disappointed that Smith didn't give Hugil more of a chance at the beginning of last season after what was actually a great pre season (not saying he should've started instead of Pukki/Sargent but he should have been used ahead of likes of Idah).
  4. The recent comments re appointment of agents to support the recruitment of Webber's replacement has again made me think about what has happened to the model he had promised to introduce. The arrival of Webber and Farke brought a fantastic sense of optimism and togetherness to the club. We were promised a model and a strategy which would ensure progression and development for years. When Farke struggled in the first year I think it was this sense of a wider vision that ensured fans remained supportive. Like many I was gutted when Farke left but was even more dismayed with the appointment of Smith which showed a total betrayal of the concept of developing a style of play throughout the club. It also totally contradicted the previous assurances that part of Webber's role was to be constantly vigilant to the next managerial appointment. This was with the aim of maintaining a consistent style and approach so we didn't have to tear everything up and start again. I now feel we have had to do this twice with Smith and then Wagner. We now seem to be in the exactly same position with Webber's departure. Again he has previously been very keen to emphasise that potential successors would be identified and that it would be a smooth process. Most of us expected this to be Adams but that's clearly not the case (which I think is a good thing!). He has kept his promise not to leave us in the lurch but we now seem to be in the very odd position where 4 months after he handed his notice we are only now appointing agency to support us. We are also facing the risk of him joining a direct rival. The legacy that was promised certainly doesn't appear to be materialising and I fear we have ended up back at square one - but with better training facilities and a proposed swimming pool.
  5. Must admit I’m on the Aussies side here. Stupid by Bairstowe and they are just playing the rules of the game. Sod all this it isn’t cricket rubbish. The Aussies are winners and this proves it. England can cry as much as they want. Ironically I hope players like Barnes bring the do what you need to do to win attitude rather than the nice little Norwich approach to our team for next season!
  6. Not sure how you define 'a music fan' but I've been to Glastonbury 17 times with the sole purpose to watch music and write my own music blog reviewing albums, live shows and festivals and it's one of my passions in life so I think I should just about qualify? and I would definitely say it was 'one' of the best headline acts I've seen there. Not saying anywhere near the greatest vocal performance I've seen but definitely one of the best sets. If you were watching on TV then yes probably wasn't the best but I was there and the performance, quality of songs and reaction of the crowd made it one of the best headline acts of the c50 headline acts I've seen at Glastonbury.
  7. I'm not so sure about that. I know that millions is raised for charities but I still think a lot goes to the Eavis family in terms of salaries, rent and overheads. Call me a cynic but I expect they have made a better living out of it than most dairy farmers do.
  8. Well I was there (and have been 17 times!). Elton John was brilliant and his voice did sound really good. The set was amazing. Guns n roses were also really good but then I loved them during their appetite for destruction days. Yes Axl voice is not the greatest but can’t fault the energy he gave and when you were there the sound was good and the crowd singing along meant it really didn’t matter. It is really hard to get tickets these days but if you are prepared and determined you always have a chance. Its a great experience and the performances are very different to what the tv shows… the atmosphere and crowd reaction can make a huge difference (G N R being a great example this year).
  9. I think this is a fair point. Mumba clearly has skill and ability but I cant see him nailing down a first team position as either a full back or winger in the championship - he could probably do either in L1 or 2. I expect we will mainly see him being used from the bench as a disrupter when Wagner is happy to give up any defensive discipline because we are behind or where the game just requires something a bit 'different'.
  10. People keep throwing this as a reason to stick with idah. But that’s kind of the point, he only became the player he is because we let him go!!! He needed to go to a different club with a fresh start and have the time to develop and achieve his potential. I may be wrong in thinking Idah will never be anything more than an average league one player but keeping him here is no good for him or us. He needs to go off so he plays regularly, build confidence and doesn’t have same weight of expectation. we need a striker (or even a second striker) that is definitely championship quality and can score the goals to at least get us in the playoffs. We can’t just sit around for the next 3 years ‘giving Idah a go’ because he MIGHT bloom later like morris did!
  11. He’s clearly not good enough and can’t really see how anyone is really arguing any different. Whether that is due to confidence or ability may be to some extent up for debate (I’d say it’s a league 1 ability and lack of confidence not helping). I really hope we send him on loan for his and the clubs good. I’m hoping wagner was giving him a go last season due to pressure from Webber to try and justify the ridiculous 5 year contract (thanks for that parting gift Stuart..p ing more money up the wall!). but if Wagner does persist in playing him then I will be even more concerned about his managerial ability.
  12. I am really mixed on this news. I think he has done some brilliant things for the club and those two promotions with Farke are some of my favourite times as a canary (c45 years). But I think things had got poisonous and it was time to move on. But I wont be celebrating like some here...especially not without his replacement being know. I'd love to know what Wagner thinks about it though! and that's my biggest concern, I'm not entirely convinced about him but we definitely need a manager who is confident in his position and can be brave rather than not being committed as he is worried he could be shown the door. Certainly not a boring pre season!!
  13. Must admit I think this could be a brilliant signing and exactly what we need. Obviously the most important aspect is his football ability but I do think the character side is hugely important. That quite horrific experience he had at Celtic will have taught him a lot about life and what is important. That ability to withstand something far worse than going one nil down in a game (which in the scheme of life really shouldn’t bother any of us!) could be invaluable for us. players like Omo, Gibbs, Gunn, Sargent, Idah and even Aarons could really benefit from having this type of character to support them. I also hope he is a vocal leader on the pitch as we desperately miss that as well last season.
  14. Must admit, it is getting a bit concerning that we have heard nothing new on this for some time now. I'm surprised Webber didnt provide some sort of update in his end of season interviews. Might be all about keeping cards close to chest as we enter negotiations on players but at moment doesnt seem like any significant investment (if there ever is one) is going to support a push for promotion this year.
  15. It will depend on how the clauses are worded. I think Coventry did actually get a payment from us when Maddison started his first competitive International.
  16. Sadly I think the answer is no. People will hark back to 'that hat-trick' and a couple of ok performances in the premier league but I've not really seen anything to convince me he is up to anything above league one status. I think we should either a) send him out on loan or b)cut our losses and let him go (although the 5 year deal probably means that's impossible as I suspect a lower league team wont be able to match it)
  17. Id welcome a pm with details of vpn and site - for use on iPad if possible. I’ve managed to use streams before but normally requires me to click numerous times and brings up some very non family friendly pop ups!
  18. There will inevitably be an outpour of moaning - cheap option, failed manager, small club mentality, cozy little Norwich, lack of ambition etc Will also be cries for Farke to come back as Sporting Director. Having said that, not sure I would disagree!
  19. Let’s be honest no matter what recruitment methods you use (scouting, data etc) there’s a huge amount of luck involved. And I think that’s the point Webber is trying to make in his recent interview. Skipp was a brilliant signing but I doubt anyone would’ve thought a young kid who couldn’t get in to the Tottenham squad would Have such a big impact and be such an exceptional talent. Likewise Hayden looked like exactly the sort of player we have been missing and would have brought great experience and some premier league quality to the side,. Sure there were issues re injury but we/he was really unlucky last year. Arguable hitting gold with a Buendia, Pukki, Skipp even every couple of years is worth the risk of all the other ‘failures’. We need that magic this season to support the likes of Sara, Nunez and Sargent who I think are decent buys.
  20. I’m more interested in the coach, hope it’s someone who can teach the defenders to stop making idiotic mistakes!
  21. I must admit I’ve spent the entire season moaning about Webber and wanting him out. But whenever he ends up doing these interviews I come away being glad to hear from him. yes, every time says some very stupid things (pd against a wall, 90%, divorcees in the snake pit) but at least he is just saying what he thinks. He’s bullish and annoying but he does at least seem to care, even if it is just as much about his reputation and future career as the club (which are intrinsically linked). I accept I will be in the minority who enjoyed the interview and took heart from what he had to say. I just hope the majority of fans will listen to his request to meet him, the club and the players half way (presuming they meet their share of the bargain too!). In all my years supporting city we have only had success when the players, fans and club had a sense of togetherness. The only way our club of our size can have success is if we pull together. I just hope we can get a couple of inspirational signings and enter next season with hope.
  22. to be fair that was mainly because they had not played as many games because of issues with their pitch. In fact Robins deserves even more praise for how he has had to deal with those sort of off the field issues. What he and Coventry have and what we miss the most is team spirit and a sense of togetherness amongst players and fans. I know people feel our squad isnt good enough but I think we DO have the quality in the squad for the play offs if we could generate a bit of team spirit and get them playing as a cohesive unit for more than 15 minutes a game.
  23. I just hope he is happy and enjoying his football again. Life’s too short to hold grudges against any one, let alone someone you dont even know!
