  1. Tettey was well on form last night. Potentially my MOM.
  2. You can''t blame him, at his stage of his career he needs to be playing but as things stand he looks set to be deputising for Harrison Reed and Farke hasn''t shown much indication that he''ll play a formation that will accommodate them both. I''ve loved Tettey but I think we''ve seen his best years, it might be time to say farewell. He''s probably on a five-figure weekly wage too.
  3. It''d be my personal preference to scrap the January transfer window as well. The January window can bring an element of unfairness to the league. Say Team X bought in three or four worldies at the end of the January transfer window. Team Y have already played Team X and got 6 points from them; however, Team Z have only played them once and are in a relegation scrap with Team Y. They play the new, improved Team X in March and lose. They get relegated by finishing a point behind Team Y. You can argue quite solidly that it was by virtue of good fortune with the fixture lists that Team Y have survived. You should assemble your squad before the season starts and see it out until the season finishes in my humble opinion.
  4. I''m not too sure I buy into this Maddison hype yet. I think and hope he will be a real asset for us, but I''m not sure I agree with the generous praise the majority gave him following Sunday''s match. For sure, his first touch look decent and I assume his pass completion statistics look healthy but the vast majority of his passes were within a 10 yard range. I''d rather see someone hit a couple of deadly, chance-creating balls along with some wayward, hospital passes than someone achieve 99% pass completion by hitting everything short and sideways. Bradley Johnson is a good example. He''d hit some absolute melons but among them would be an effort that lay it on a plate for a striker. There were a number of times that players were in acres of space on the flank, Husband in particular was screaming for one on two occasions that I remember clearly, but Maddison ignored him and knocked it short to Naismith of Watkins and given how poor the latter was playing, that was never going to result in anything. It may well be that was how he was told to play but hopefully tomorrow tonight he''ll be a touch more expansive and look beyond 10 yards more often.
  5. Broadstairs, I would guess that West Ham won''t have their stadium back by the time the second round is played. It''ll still be undergoing conversion from World Athletics Championship venue to football venue. I don''t think they''re playing a home league game until well into September.
  6. Faroe has handled it perfectly. Nipped it in the bud early doors publicly and will no doubt be having a quiet word with him at Colney. And I suspect, encouraged by Farke, his team-mates will be targeting him with some "banter" about it on the training field. He''ll be wishing he hadn''t have done it come bed time tomorrow but without being alienated or disillusioned as he would likely have been if Farke gave him a lashing in front of the camera.
  7. I quite like that they''ve filtered (uck. Probably trigger a few Brexiters.
  8. I love the irony of the alt-right and their use of the term snowflake. It''s quite hard to find anyone who uses the term snowflake away from their keyboard but when you do, you can guarantee they''ll melt quicker than an ice sculpture in a blast furnace. I''m glad we agree on the killing of endangered species unnecessarily. I''m struggling to ascertain why you would need to add endangered part to that sentence. I''ll grant you that I set the bar for necessity quite low; wanting to eat an animal bred for feeding humans or other animals, wanting to preserve your lawn or for an activity that inflicts no physical pain on the animal involved (ie, fishing). But going out and shooting, stabbing or spearing an animal, whether endangered or not, for fun? That''s not even a slight necessity. You''re pretty sick if you think inflicting pain on an animal for a laugh is fun. I''d probably find punching a few people on here a bit of a laugh. I wouldn''t do it because inflicting pain on an animal or human without a largely universally accepted reason is a pretty sick thing to do, despite my own individual response to inflicting that pain. I suspect the reason the alt-right leap to the defence of these deranged, blood-lustful hunter types is because they look at them and see a similar, pathetic existence. A person who probably didn''t enjoy much social success or popularity in childhood who get their kicks in peculiar ways. You guys hit up the internet and call people snowflakes, cucks and beta-males to try and build up a facade of masculinity, those guys grab a gun and pour out their angst on largely defenceless animals. The reality is the source of inflicting or trying to inflict vulnerability on another being actually comes from an inner-vulnerability within that person. Whether they feel vulnerable about foreigners, gypsies, chavs, popular people, socialists etc, it comforts them to force that vulnerability on something or someone else to make them feel better. As the alt-right would say, all a little bit snowflakey and beta-male like, isn''t it?
  9. Who knew that eating chicken and letting an animal bleed to death after shooting it with a bow and arrow were morally equally actions. It''s ironic really, people like RTB and IBF waving the flag for absolute equality among the animal kingdom. Equal rights (or zero rights) for all animals, fish or elephant, chicken or lion. But insist on equal rights for all humans, gosh, what a leftard, communist fool you are. The absolute state of some people.
  10. A remarkable transformation from the bloke who could regularly be seen plastered in Delaney''s. I saw him one Saturday night singing a pro-IRA song with someone I went to school with. Legend.
  11. On paper we were one of the best sides in the Championship. At least top 3 or 4. Didn''t end well for us and Howson was part of a collective group who must shoulder some of the blame for that underachievement. Here''s hoping he repeats it again this season.
  12. I''ve not been paying attention, are we looking like playing three at the back? I thought Farke favoured a 4-1-4-1? Arsenal would probably expect Bielik to play a fair few games, as would the player, I''m just struggling to see how him, Zimmerman, Franke and Klose could harmoniously exist in the squad, especially with Martin with his new contract and desire to play CB.
  13. I would imagine now that any new CB depends on getting a buyer for Klose.
  14. Froome''s transformation in the four weeks since the Dauphine is remarkable. I''d love to know what his secret is.
  15. Jacob did a cracking job at right-back in the Under 21s. In the FA Youth Cup winning side they worked brilliantly in a 4-3-3 with Carlton Morris bullying as the centre forward creating space for the Murphy''s to exploit. That side had Cameron McGeehan in the centre of midfield and he wasn''t exactly all that defensive. Can''t remember who the other two were, I guess it''d make sense if they were both more sitting type midfielders. I''d love to see it replicated at senior level but it''s difficult to envisage it. Watkins could fill in for either Murphy but there is no place for Hoolahan or Pritchard. It''d be a brave manager who would play one of those two in a midfield 3 in a 4-3-3 like that.
  16. Despite being Scottish, I''m not sure we can play the tight-fisted gags where Alex Neil is concerned. He paid ÂŁ7.5 million for Wildschut. Football''s most generous manager.
  17. You''re starting a weekly dominoes night at Yellows. There. Don''t bother coming back at 6pm.
  18. Look what happens when Lambert leaves a club. Relegated within two years. If we do go for him, we can''t ever let him go! I''m undecided. If you''d have asked me a week ago I''d have been a hell no but it is starting to look more appealing. And Ginja, as for Aston Villa being Europa League contenders when he took over, do me a favour! They had just finished two points above the relegation zone and had the second worse goals scored record in the Premier League. On what planet does that make a team a dead cert for a top-half finish and a possible Europa League contender?!
  19. Tetty spotted the camera. I''m not doing any work this morning.
  20. I''m partially obscured by the old fella in front and seem more interested in something going on to my left than what''s on the pitch. Standard.
  21. Two goals and two assists. 7/10. Right.
  22. I certainly won''t be having a tango in the night if Rosler is appointed.
  23. Oh dear. I genuinely cringed. Embarrassed for you old boy.
