  1. As with most comparisons there has to be adjustments to the initial opinions to arrive at a fair conclusion. When Bowkett/McNally took over, they had a clear target and were given freedom to achieve that target. As we know, they were fantastically successful to turn the club from a poorly led outfit to a professional business model. This successful period started to change when the club came into big money and the owners, who had hardly been heard in the media, became more vocal and their opinions were heard again. An example being the infamous ''we''ve searched throughout Europe'' This was not voiced by the owners but surprisingly (to me) by Bowkett and McNally. I thought at the time that they surely didn''t believe that but were displaying ''cabinet loyalty'' From that time onwards their influence diminished. Foe me, although I believe they didn''t always agree, I miss the leadership that these two gave.
  2. Its been a tough old day today and now to discover TG will not be around for a few weeks. How are we all going to cope without his accurate predictions? I can always do without his sickly admiration for Jezz so thats a plus
  3. I give you one unwise woman "Hi Ed (Balls) don''t worry comrade, the general election is a cert, I''m telling my ncfc supporters who will always do as I say to vote for Ed Miliband. Oh and if there''s ever a EU referendum I will instruct them to ''remain''"
  4. Thanks TG Now I really know you are a total PT
  5. Yes Warburton is a good shout too but I fear neither Wagner or Warburton would touch us with the current set up
  6. Marvellous to watch proper football again by the yellas. Pass and move. Instant control of the ball. Sharp accurate passing and a confidence about the team as if they know what they''ve got to do. Good stuff
  7. Probably Sam Allardyce would be best bet for promotion but I agree MC that Wagner would be an exciting choice. Very Kloppesque which may mean it would take him this season to sort out. He''s an intelligent man and doesn''t suffer fools. Would the board find that attractive? There are always his religious and political views to take into consideration one would imagine.
  8. Agree with everything you have written Ernie. You won''t get too much support on this message board mate but not to worry.
  9. Well said ,Buh. The Guardian luvvies will be after you now
  10. I may be wrong but didn''t the term originate by Delia after the Fulham thrashing that relegated us. She was, I assume, trying to put a positive slant on the situation by implying that who would have thought ''little old Norwich'' could have come so close to survival. If that is not accurate I assume Lapps, Nutty Nigel or Morty will put the record straight and leap to her defence.
  11. Good afternoon Nutty. I would never attempt to read your mind thank you very much. Now then where''s that porn magazine..........
  12. danielsroundabout wrote: I don''t know enough about him to comment one way or the other but it does worry me when Bury Yellow states that he is Norwich through and through. The very words used frequently when Gunn and Adams were appointed and re-appointed. Now we are hearing the same words from those individuals who close their eyes to Russell Martin''s shortcomings as a CB and captain. Desperately wanting a job is one thing, being capable of delivering is smooth danielsroundabout Sorry mate but my attempt at irony has obviously fallen on stoney ground. Blast he say he even the iconic Nutty Nigel thinks I was serious. That can''t be serious.....can it?
  13. He''s Norwich through and through and cuts a fine figure in a suit
  14. Many thanks for that Lessingham. I admit I have never been a great fan of the owners business acumen but I have stood next to Delia in sub zero temperatures away at Coventry. Not for her the comfort of the hosts boardroom. Both are true fans but I do hope that they receive some advice as to where they are at the moment and where they should be in the next few months.
  15. Lessingham, I have always enjoyed your contributions to this board but can I ask you how impressed you were with Delia''s outpourings last night? In particular her comment her ''proudest moment with the club was the support Alex Neil received at the Watford game'' To me that sums up every thing wrong with our current leadership of the club. In addition, did she sound like an owner who sounded a clarion call for the future and apologised for mistakes made by the board?
  16. Suffolk 7 - An excellent question that I doubt will ever be answered but his position tells you all you need to know about our owners and their fantastic record of appointments
  17. This is the crucial point OldRobert. We really do need to have some positive statement of intent from the board. Where do they think they have gone wrong and what is their vision in the short and long term. The owners simply have a terrible record of appointments. The appointment of Bowkett and McNally had little to do with their talent spotting. If the board do have a reality check then Alex Neal may have a chance. I think that our manager''s character is one of his strengths and I trust that, if he doesn''t get 100% total support, he would walk away. It would appear we have far too many ''yes men'' on the board and that is very dangerous for any business. We all mistakes in business and in life but I find it hard to recall when the owners have admitted when they have. I''m sure I will get examples soon enough through the magic of this message board
  18. Oi ''T'' old chap. Are you the geezer that gets worked up when one mentions anything that may, by the odd chance, be racist? If you''ve got time to spare, just give us an insight into how the brain of a sycophantic snob works. Oh and to make it absolutely clear I do mean you. Love you
  19. I''m not so sure the usual young players that keep being mentioned are anywhere near the answer. Perhaps one or two may get a look in next season but not sure they will make too much of a contribution. I live in hope that our academy will one day prove a success, profitable or otherwise.
  20. I agree with Morty and similar comments. Why do people keep banging on about McNally. He is a servant of the board and does his job with one hand tied behind his back. The final decision makers are the owners. They can do what they like and out vote everybody when a decision has to be made. Further more the changes to the board since Mr Bowkett resigned, remain a big worry.
  21. But cusdp, I don''t understand the criticism of McNally. Its not his money he''s spending and what money there is available is peanuts compared to all or nearly all teams in the Prem. I think he speaks sense when interviewed In the latest he heaped praise on our owners but a few minutes later qualified that by wishing we had a rich benefactor. I think he''s doing a good job with severe restrictions both in money and board business talent. It is strange that we don''t seem to attract more investment in the club. Even Bristol Rovers have done it!! From ''Let'' be ''avin you'' to advising our support to vote for Ed Miliband, these little things grate with me. Sorry about that.
  22. T, Im afraid you come across as pompous git Now that''s classic defensive aggressive behaviour
  23. Thanks Tommy for brilliant memories. As others have said, he didn''t actually play in one of our better teams and that was a shame but he was ''worth the admission money alone'' A favourite player of my mum and dad. Condolences to Tommy''s family
  24. I, like most supporters are fully behind Alex Neill. An impressive manager and strong character. His only problem is that Delia likes Ricky Martin ''cos he''s a very nice man so you know what that means!
