1. Melbourne, AustraliaBorn here and have only been to Norwich once, but I have supported Norwich since I was old enough to know better because of my father who is originally from the Ditchingham Area.
2. You guys must honestly be shattered by this, if Theo goes then there can''t be much left for you all to moan about!
3. I just watched the Highlights on The Canaries Player, in the intro the commentator says, "5 years ago Southampton V Charlton Athletic was a premier league fixture, one year ago it was a Championship Fixture and today they meet in League 1" How can you stuff that up? Does no-one check these things before they are put up for consumers?
4. I am a little disappointed, I was hoping that we would be able to sign him on a permanent in January instead of just extending his loan. I suppose it will keep the squad consistent for this season at least.Does anyone know what Newcastle''s intentions are for Forster or what they value him at?Gives Theo plenty of time to shape up and prove himself for next season as well I guess. ;)
5. I think he needs to have a run at Carlisle. Assuming Forster goes back in Jan that leaves us with Theo and Rudd as our main Goalkeepers, now while I am fine with Lambert playing Rudd ahead of Theo, getting another keeper in on loan or even getting Forster on an extended loan or permanent, I still think he needs his second chance so everyone ad particularly Theo knows where he stands.Playing at Carlisle won''t be as hostile for him as playing at Carrow Road either, if he can''t perform there, then I will be happy to see him go as well.Even if he doesn''t play and Lambert has already made up his mind and gets him out the door after Xmas, then I will be upset but I will also accepting of the decision. Lambert has not got much wrong so far so I am happy to stand by him.We all have one common goal after all.OTBC
6. Rugby is a better sport though to be fair. I can''t help feel sorry for the guy, every time he makes a mistake now everyone pounces on it. Why is he the only one not to be given a second chance after Colchester. Honestly I don''t believe he is "that bad". IMO he should be able to cut the mustard at this level. Maybe if people gave him a break, instead of waiting for him to make his next mistake he would be able to progress. I have read a few match reports and as far as I can gather that was his only "mistake" of the night. One mistake in 90 minutes, yes it lead to a goal, but that is the nature of being a goalkeeper. Reading the report, it gives me the impression that Theo didn''t really have much else to do for the game, is that because he was organising his defence so well? Oh that''s right, no-one talks about the positives.
7.
Match confirmed as being shown on Austar Setanta Sports pay channel in Australia. It will be the fourth time we have seen Norwich in a T/V Match downunder this season. More often than previously when they were in the Championship. Hopefully the good times will keep on coming
I I''m not sure how it could be confirmed here when it has not even been confirmed in England yet. Sounds about right though if it does go ahead, the only bloody channel I don''t get! i was hoping it would of been on ESPN as I woke up early one sunday to find Kings Lynn -v- Oldham being shown live one year. Looks like I will have to stump up for Setanta for a month if it does turn out to be the case.
8. Jesus, he has had one bad game, get over it.
9. Yes it is, I have already notified work that I will be in late that morning!
10. Oi! I think there is a little secret I should let you in on. Theo is a dual citizen, he is at Norwich on his GREEK passport. Australia have lots of players with dual citizenships so there is an unspoken rule, player does good = Australian, player does bad = OTHER. Same applied to Bosnich when he went on his bender at Chelsea, News reports read, "Bosnich, who has Croatian heritage,........." Get with the program! :P (Just BTW, I think many of you are just being a tad harsh on the poor bloke, stop making him the scapegoat for the Colchester match, most of that team played crap in that match and Theo is the only one who has not been given a second chance to prove himself.)
11. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!Comon Crook! You are smarter than that! When Bosnich played for Central Coast no-one liked him! Why? Because he has a big issue with his ego! Nothing he has gone through has humbled him at all! It was very easy to see that no-one from Central Coast liked him on the pitch at all!The ONLY reason he even got a gig at Central Coast was because their usual No. 1 was suspended for 5 matches for pushing a ref and their back up was rubbish. Central Coast saw $$$$ by playing an apparent "Star" for a few matches as a stunt. If he was any good than he would of already found a club and wouldn''t have to play for Sydney Olympic, who are only playing him because since the old NSL fell apart and they went back to the NSWPL they have been struggling to attract sponsorship.....see where this is going?Bosnich is nothing more than an overweight coke addict with a bad hair cut and a big big ego! Please for the sake of the club don''t do it! If you have to look at keepers from over here look at, Micheal Theoklitos, Liam Reddy & Eugene Galekovic all are decent keepers and far, far better than Bosnich.
12. I remember the goal, Phillips launched himself to the left like a keeper diving and volleyed the ball into the far corner. Ahhh memories!
13. I am not sure if he will start as Pim has a policy of starting players who have been playing regularly. Being a crucial WCQ Tie he might not want to risk him not being match fit. If he had played regularly he would definatly be starting IMO.Sheffield United own him so he is still a Sheffield United player, we only have him on loan.
14. Maybe it is signed and done subject to him making the trip down and passing a medical? It is rather odd that both Celtic and Norwich have not reported anything though.
15.
Presumably Gunn has taken the decision that he will create his own transfer budget and opted to sell from the only position we have profitable quality in. With Bell apparantly keen to go and Crofty likely to raise less than usual because of his impending Bosman status, it was better to sell Bell assuming that Crofty will definitely do as indicated and sign a new contract. However, with the Bell funds and the Eventguard money, plus whatever Foulger has been putting together, the board has got to provide funds to Gunny. Just a thought but Ched has notably not signed for any of the clubs bidding for him, he was another that signed up to Melissa Gunn''s "Give my dad a job" Facebook group so he obviously likes Gunny, and £1.2m might not be impossible now... I''d have settled for Ched, Purse, and the Aussie on loan in exchange for Bell at the start of the window.
It wasn''t brave, it was smart! Bell didn''t want to play for Norwich = out the door!
16. Bell didn''t want to be here so why keep him? Get rid of him, the last thing we need is players who don''t want to play for the club.
17. Matt Simon''s parents are both from the UK I believe so I don''t think he will have too much trouble with a work permit. Not sure about the rest. You don''t need to be over there at 15 any more to make an impact in England, look at Nick Carle at Palace & David Carney at Sheffield United both were signed straight from the A-League. There are players from A-League clubs flying all over the place to have trials with European clubs every week. Nikita Rukavytsya from Perth was in Holland this week on trial at FC Twente where he is apparently he impressed and is going to score a deal. Most half decent players make sure they hold dual passports with their parents country of origin to get around the work permit issue in the UK and Europe.
18.
Thanks for the compliment Bobert, whilst its my first post I always read this board and have done for a few years just felt I had something to contribute this time glad you liked it.As for Mick Dundee’s post have to agree on your choice of player he may be worth a punt. There are some talented guys out here and they are a very enthusiastic bunch who live to win but whether they are good enough for the championship I am not sure. I think football here is much slower (but then they are playing in 30+ degrees so that probably explains that one) and to tactical sometimes. They seem to like playing with a sweeper so maybe look out for change in NCFC tactics!Maybe we should set up aussie talent spotting thread!
Might be a bloody short thread, problem is you would have to go with the young guys, anyone over 28 and who has not played outside Australia would simply not be worth the risk. There is defiantly no one from Melbourne, Perth, Sydney or Newcastle I would like to see at Norwich at the moment. Van Dijk is hitting some form at QLD but again it has taken him a fair while to adapt. The other "young guns" at QLD are a bit too raw for my liking.Central Coast - Matt Simon (Striker)Wellington - I would of said Shane Smeltz but he has just signed for Gold Coast, otherwise I am not too familiar with their squad, I will be watching them play Melbourne tonight so maybe I''ll comment on them later.Adelaide - Eugene Galekovic (Goalkeeper) & Scott Jamieson (Left Back), maybe another one agian I will watch them this weekend and comment later. In all honesty though I can''t see Norwich showing much interest in many players from Australia.
19. Just to add to my post above...If he is going to sign someone from the A-League my choice would be Matt Simon from Central Coast. He has really come of age this year and proved to be a natural goalscorer, he is still only young and would be worth the gamble IMO.Who would be yours?
20.
Lucky Norwich City your gain is our loss we have nurtured Ian Crook down under for the past decade. The pasty white Spit on String( to coin an Antipodean Phrase). East Ender is returned to you a Bronzed Muscular Aussie. He has held his own with the best and will get the best out of city players and have no fear there is plenty talent waiting ti be discovered in the australian A league
I would not say plenty, some but defiantly not plenty. There is absolutely no one at the Jets who would be good enough to make the move to the Championship.
21. Which Premier League? You all assume the English? Maybe the Scottish PL? Maybe the Dr Martens PL for all you know?
22. Correct! and not only have they finished last but most of their best players are leaving or have left and they are scrambling around trying to make last minute signings to prop up their squad for the ACL. Their manager has come under intense criticism for the style of football he is playing and team selections, at one stage it was widely reported that Spencor Prior (who is over here working as a commentator for Fox Sports) had come out of retirement and signed for the Jets as defensive cover, I believe the Jets backed out of the deal at the last minute.Their owner of the club is also being investigated about an alleged incident in which he verbally threatened and assaulted a fan at last weeks game against Perth, which they actually won!Not to take anything away from Ian Crook, personally I think he will do a Stirling job as coach and couldn''t be happier for him to be back at Norwich but, all is not well at the Jets.
23. This is nothing new, it has always been crap. I can''t remember the last time I visited the Official Website, I get all my news from this and various other fan sites. Pretty sad isn''t it considering I also have a Canaries World subscription. After the first year I was subscribed they had an offer, if you re-sign for the next year you will get a free replica CCC Official football, that was a nice bonus. Unfortunately the next year I was waiting for the letter of renewal to come as I was not going to renew it but alas it never did, instead Canaries World just saw fit to Direct Debit my Credit Card, I was not very happy and did not give them the authority to do so.
24. Fosters sponsored shirt, 87-88 I think! Quality!
