  1. Yep, get your point, just meant free as in free transfer rather than a fee.
  2. So just reading the last few pages, my recollection was that both Webber and Wagner said at the end of the disaster that was last season… lots of new faces in to freshen things up/ major revamp (words to that affect). It just hasn’t really happened has it? One player that cost a transfer fee and some freebies. It’s brilliant that we have started positively but it’s a long old season, I really hope we see a couple more additions or we are an injury or two from trouble. Still think we will go for a couple of loans whatever the current noise coming out of NR1.
  3. Sargent will score 20 plus goals this season, with the emphasis on crosses into the box, especially from Stacey.
  4. Still shipping goals 5 in 2 , yes things are looking so much better than last season but something is still definitely missing in the middle of the park to nullify the opposition.
  5. Yep I saw that surely if it was confirmed 9m up front with Leeds that’s what we would want from Bournemouth?
  6. Can’t tell from that angle, ball appears to have some sort of face on it though?
  7. Lol Dylan, bit early for that, but did make me think who was the last player Arsenal bought directly from us? Was it Andy Linigan?
  8. It’s Important to note he just recently and finally got his first international goal, both that and today is going to do his confidence no harm at all.
  9. Great to start with a win which was thoroughly deserved, OTBC….Wagner, excellent call to start Rowe.
  10. Two key words in this sentence…likely and option, just smoke and mirrors, we will never recoup what we paid for him.
  11. 1-1 written all over it. Sargent the scorer from a set piece.
  12. People are saying we look more solid at the back and are less likely to concede as many, I am not so sure. On Saturday we still looked to have that annoying habit of one too many passes between defenders in the box, followed by a miss-weighted back pass to Gunn (or Gunn delaying his pass too long). A sharper strike force, who were closer to their season start, would have scored at least one on Saturday. For me we look like a mid-table team, still hoping for a few additions if we can move on those we a flaunting for sale.
  13. Hero to me, and it may seem an odd one to some was Mick Channon, after a dazzling career with Southampton and England he was at the twilight of his career, but boy…did he have class, great to see him get a trophy with us in 85. Danny Mills/ Tim Sherwood as the villains. opposition villains : Alan Brazil and David Speedie
  14. You are right, the model was to sell at the peak and then reinvest wisely, we did that with Buendia, but invested the money so poorly. We held onto both Max and Cantwell to the detriment of the coffers. All ways round the self funding model disappoints when you sell your best players and totally disappoints when you reinvest badly ( Rachita, Tzolis). We are where we are.
  15. 1 Southampton 1-0 1983 Keith Bertschin 2. Liverpool 2-6 1986 we were not that bad, Liverpool were just that good Rush and Walsh. 3. Milk Cup Semi Final win at home v the Binners 1985 what can you say, a perfect evening.
  16. Yep we have Gibsons wage to pay.
  17. I think there’s definitely two sticks in one to be had if you combine Mumba going and Idah’s five year contract.
  18. Come on now, nothings imploding, Stu’s still in the house and we have super fried Jam sandwiches on the menu. All is good.
  19. Sam McCallum too….although he’s not been great so far either.
  20. All I can say about Mumba, puzzling as it is if he goes….at least the destination isn’t Leeds, that would be concerning on a few different levels. It seems we are desperate for cash wherever we can get it and if someone shows a real interest in one of our squad the move appears to be on.
