1. He was never my favourite but he couldn''t help being the best of a dreadful bunch and he scored a fab goal against Scum - can''t take that away from him. Proof that you can''t polish a turd...but you can roll it in glitter.
 2. Does your time machine know the certain outcome of any more games? I''d like a flutter on the outcome of next years FA Cup final if you can help me out.
 3.
Anybody know of any pictures or videos online of Drinkell''s winner against Liverpool at home in April 87? Cheers
It''s available anytime - in my mind''s eye. I was stood behind the goal and can still see it going in now. We never beat Liverpool at Carra and to do it with a late goal as good as that was special. Anyone remember going up to Anfield in 89 and beating them 1-0 with a Townsend goal? I got so carried away, I bought the official game video from the club shop even though the game itself was crap. It cost me about £15 for the poorest 60 minutes of highlights ever!

 5.
You play your squad players who will either have a good game and give you more options or else cool their heels by their proving they are not ready or good enough. You protect your number one goalkeeper who has just had a massive confidence boost and give experience to his back up. You give a good run out to Francomb and let him gain valuable experience. Meanwhile you rest the vital Drury. You give more match fitness to Ward and Askou and have a look at a new partnership prior to them possibly having to play together at the weekend. You experiment with Russel Martin on the left and find out what he can do there if needs be. You give that game time to more of your midfielders and top up their fitness. You see how Holt plays with Jackson and top up Holts match fitness. You know you have a decent squad and you only conceed goals when you change the formation and go for it. You prove to yourself once again how vital Chris Martin, Andrew Crofts and in particular Korey Smith is. You go out of a pointless cup game with no apparent injuries and avoiding extra time to Premier League opposition and in the meantime stand up to the sort of team Norwich traditionally do poorly against. All in all, I''m happy and once again Paul Lambert has got a lot out of a nothing game. What a manager! He lost in the competition but won in so many useful ways as Norwich City manager.
Agreed. The League Cup needs a massive overhaul to remain on the fixture list. Sad as it is, given City''s history in the competition, I don''t feel it will be around much longer...

 7.

Guess who?
I know! I know! I know! You must be Drazen Muzinic? OTBC
He is NOT Drazen Muzinic! I was Finidi George for my first half a dozen posts but got bored with that quite quickly. And it is amazing how some people can rack up such a big post count in such a short space of time. Snake Pit Lassie looked like she was going for Nana''s record at one stage. I am proud of my 2 and a half posts per month average - ''little and often'' my old Dad used to say. The missus says the same but I think she''s talking about something else.

 9.

noone in the squad is capable of making the next level
Noone was the lead singer in Hermans Hermits, wasn''t he?
Yes he was. He was Len Fairclough''s son Stanley from a time before Len settled down with Rita. Must go, I think that''s my therapist at the door...
 10.
Precisely Jas. I think it would be far more interesting if someone spotted one of the players whose Mrs who was a complete biffer! Any suggestions?
I believe this lady is married to a footballer. She appears to have fallen out of the lower branches of the ugly tree. 11.

Holt played like he was suffering from Peugeot 307 lag..... But, he eventually trundled over the finishing line with two assists....
ermmm macnamee got the assist for the 1st?!
Ermmm....Holt passed the ball to Mcnamee - and Mcnamee was the last player in a yellow shirt to touch the ball before it was deflected by an opposition player - into the Swansea net... So then, who''s right?
Lets call it a draw before Nana adds another 300 posts to the thread.
 12.
I''ve read and heard a lot about Swansea being a great team - they broke the record for the most passes in a match last week, something like 700, thats impressive. And I have also read that they ''dominated'' our match and deserved at least a draw. But I for one did not think they were any better than City. Yes they can pass the ball...but they did not offer much up front and only really had 2 telling chances, one from Sinclair and then the penalty. Given our ''main two players'' Hoolahan and Holt were off colour yesterday...we still matched Swansea on the park and I would be upbeat if this is the strength of opposition we will be facing at Carrow Road every fortnight.
Agreed. However ''good'' Swansea were lauded to be - they did not break us down and create or finish enough chances in open play. They conceded a soft OG and were opened up like kippers for a simple second. They can rack up 700 passes every game but that ain''t worth goals or points. How many years have we watched City spend ages creating but not finishing - that didn''t get us far either.

 14.

How have Forest drawn their opening three games? [:^)] They lost at Burnley on the opening day...
Oh... Lost at Burnley, drew with Leeds at home and drew with Reading away, they are worse than I thought then! So by the law of averages, they are now due a win[:S]
B0ll0ck5 to the law of averages! Whenever did that apply in football?!?!? A great time to play them and pick up a welcome rare win at their place.

He wore the patch for effect. Find some serious research material.
Always image conscious these 18th century naval leaders...
 19.
Disagree on a couple of those.  Giallanza looked decent until he got a serious injury, and Molby was past his best but still put in a decent shift and passed the ball better than most of our players at the time.  Mortensen always put a decent shift in and didn''t take the p*ss, even though he wasn''t the best in terms of ability.  Fuglestad has no place in that list at all, he was decent enough in a generally crap team.
I did feel a little mean about some of those and did hover over the delete button on 1 or 2. Molby did provide much amusement as we tried to count the number of times he left the centre circle during a game (passing was class though). I guess I included Giallanza because he was another of those players that promised so much and we didn''t really get to see it - so maybe harsh. Mortensen was big on promise but at £350k for a couple of goals, disappointed hugely. In the same vein, I''ve just remebered David Neilson - scored his way to a permanent contract and then couldn''t hit a cow''s ar5e with a banjo. So I''ll swap him for Fuglestad.

 21. I''ve been thinking about this long and hard. Try these for size... Garry Brady Jim Brennan David Carney (Can you hear the drums) Fernando Derveld Erik Fuglestad Thomas Helveg Julien Brellier Dario Dumić Jonatan Johansson Mattias Jonson Marc (13 seconds and naff all else) Libbra Ade Akinbiyi Gaetano Giallanza David Střihavka Goran Marić Adrian (Brick) Leijer Jan Mølby Victor Segura Henrik Mortensen Jurgen Colin Chris Killen Juan Velasco Dražen Mužinic (Ahem…) Matty Pattison Omar Koroma Paul Peschisolido Maceo Rigters (did he really happen?) Wynton Rufer (only the worst because we weren’t allowed to see him play and he turned into an international class player) Antoine Sibierski Michael Theoklitos Raymond de Waard Ulf Ottosson (Ulf…Ulf…Ulf…)   And here''s a special section of our friends from other parts of the UK whom we''ve wasted a lot of time, money and bile over the years on...   Jim Whitley Willie Young Michael Watt Brian McGovern Paul Dalglish Scott Howie Ian Murray Mark Fotheringham Peter Grant Jim Blair Adrian Coote   Does Suffolk count as overseas Pete? I always had a secret mistrust of Adrian Pennock and Louie Donowa...
