3.
What''s in it for Lambert apart from European competition?
European competition would be a massive temptation for a player like Lambert. It would be likely to be his last chance to be able to say he''s played against the Barcelonas and Bayerns of this world. Can''t see any English clubs in the Champions League going after Rickie Lambert. That is enough of a draw in itself.
 4.
some Of the Leeds lot think weve put a bid in.
To be honest, every time any of their players get restless, they will jump to the assumption we have put a bid in. Can''t blame them!I wouldn''t be too disappointed with this, as long as we didn''t pay much for him, given his age. He''d get a few goals, and provide more options up front

 7.
Kolin, I sense genuine vitriol. Of course, you''re right. It''s a disgrace that this message board puts up with JUVENILE RUBBISH like this. I''d write a letter to ARCHANT to COMPLAIN. But don''t press too hard or  your crayons might tear the paper and then you''d have to start again and that would make you really ANGRY!!! On the other hand, you could just ignore posts like this one rather than trying to justify why your support has lapsed.
Support has lapsed? I did include the fact that I am a season ticket holder now and have not been before. How does that work? And yes, my vitriol is genuine. Any suggestion that people who have less money to spend on football games than others are in any way inferior is, in my opinion, offensive.
 8.
Just checked the ticket sales on the club site. Another massive no-show from season ticket holders (please spare us the "protest/sending a pricing message to McNally" guff). Interesting to see that the most DISLOYAL season ticket holders are those in the lower Barclay - obviously the natural home of the fairweather glory hunter!
I am really offended by this post, and your attitude. I am a season ticket holder but I have not been in the past for various reasons, such as:1) Not living in Norwich2) Working at weekends3) Being too unwell to make it to games4) Having family who are sick or unwell and needed care and attention5) Not having enough money to attend games6) Having a long-distance relationship7) Having a life outside football (shock, horror!)8) The thought that there is a 1 in 25''000 chance that I might have to stand next to youI do not believe that any of the above factors qualify me as being disloyal or a glory hunter, thankyou very much.Sanctimonious idiot.
 9.

I''m getting worried I have to admit. Whilst there is 2 weeks til the season starts and 3 weeks til the close of the transfer window I can''t help feeling we need to get someone else in quickly. I just dont believe we have the firepower this year. Maybe we are going to be harder to break down and we have needed defensive improvement. But I see 0-0s ahead or 1-0 losses if we don''t strengthen attack. Come on CH. Anyone else share my concerns or am I guilty of Pink Un message board negativity?
Worrying unnecessarily imo.  I believe the strikers we have are going to improve.   Holt - Morison - Jackson - Vaughan  have room to improve - and not forgetting the midfielders who have goals in them - we have plenty of firepower.   [:)]
I''d love to live on your Utopian planet LDC. I don''t like negative people but your ultra-positive views are something else!! ;)
I''m with LDC on this one. I think he is being very realistic here.People are getting used to 7-10 signings each season because we''ve been in a different division at the start of the last 3 campaigns. This season it is different. It is good to strengthen, but it is also good to consolidate and not rock the boat too much.
 10.
Always thought this boy could make it, but for whatever reason hasn''t and is now out of contract! This also encouraged me to take a trip down ''memory lane'' http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/8620715.stm Love the comment from the Leicester fan :)
Another interesting thing about that is that Simeon Jackson was playing for Gillingham! He''s a good man to have on the pitch when you''re wanting to get promoted, it seems!
 11.
Also anyone with half a footballing brain will have noticed last season we needed that complete defensive midfielder . We need a Scott parker type. We need a combo of Johnson/fox. So to the op don''t you see this? If we got that player in we could move others on to improve the squad.
Well, of course we could do with a Scott Parker type - but there aren''t many players out there like him. That''s partly why he plays for England!I would like to say that I have half a footballing brain at least, and I disagree with your post. We could always do with better players in every position - it doesn''t mean we can get them, does it? Nor does it mean that the ones we have are lacking.Howson can play in a defensive role, as can Johnson and Fox. Also, we do not know which formation Chris Hughton is going to use, so he may well use a formation which doesn''t utilise a DM.
 12.
The problem is we already have 25 players in the squad WITHOUT Turner neither does this include K Smith, Adeyami, Francombe and Steer who I think are all under the age 21 limit   so the more important question is who will have to be moved out to make way for Turner ? I would suggest other further movers will be from Barnett, Lappin, Crofts and maybe Jackson
This is not true. We have 24 players in the squad. Turner, if he signs, will be the twenty fifth. We have 24 players plus 5 who don''t count as they are too young - Francomb, Smith, Adeyemi, Rudd and Steer. So AFTER Turner, it will become "one in, one out".
 13.
Hughton has brought in some amazing players in a short spell at newcastle and would love for him to bring in a Ben Arfa and a Tiote like player to Norwich but at the moment he seems to be going down a different route and instead of going for Simpson who is available and is a quick very attacking right back, he has gone for a more physical player and instead of going for Guthrie, he has gone for Butterfield who have similarities but alround Butterfield is an attacking midfielder and Guthrie more of a defensive one. I''m starting to wonder if he feels that Norwich''s style is so much different to that of Newcastle and he wants to stick with the more physical team as oppose to going to a quicker more fluent team. Thoughts??
He has got an excellent transfer record:Pancrate, Vuckic, Simpson, Routledge, Williamson, Harewood (loan), Perch, Gosling, Tiote, Ben Arfa (loan), Lovenkrands, (Adam) Rooney, (Steve) Caldwell, Spector, (Wade) Elliott and Ibanez all prospered under him. The only players he signed who didn''t were Leon Best (who came good later) and Sol Campbell (who was probably signed more for dressing room influence than for on-field ability at that time).I think this record also shows a variety of tactics and and the ability to mix and match in the transfer windows. It also shows a lot of Lambert-style unsung players, which is good - Williamson, Simpson, Perch etc. Some of the players like Tiote and Ben Arfa should be perhaps credited more to Graham Carr though.

We are currently planning to get the train, however we are keen to look at cheaper alternatives, so if you fancy hiring a car and going down there please get in touch. My friend lives in Vienna and I am flying in to Bratislava Thursday 19th and returning from Bratislava Monday 23rd. We do not mind staying for a night or two in Graz so are flexible. If you are in the same boat get in touch and we can work something out This is Hughton''s first game in charge lets get behind them, OTBC. Will send you an email if I am going to go, as carhire-pooling might make some sense.OTBC

 17. I for one will remain calm about this until the famed divulgee issues full foreclosure of Hoolahan''s articles of incorporation in unequivocal language. Before that I will remain unconvinced that Wesley''s inordinately liquid equity contradicts the imputed act imprese in regime forfetario. Where are the safety pins?
 18.
Unlike the media, I’m not happy with being knocked out by Italy in the quarter finals! Is that the mark of a successful tournament, if that is than Hodgson is not the man for the job!  Nobody''s happy about it if they support England, but Italy are a slightly better side with better players, and I think we gave them a good game. Hodgson Reasons I believe we lost and had a poor tournament are as follows.   1, we let them have all the time on the ball, never pressing the man (Lazy by Young, Rooney and Wellbeck).  Young and Rooney looked tired and lacked confidence. Maybe a hangover to losing the title on the last day - must be a psychological blow. Compare their performance to those of say, Terry and Lescott, who are still basking in the glory of the end of their seasons. 2, Dropped so deep and allowed Italians to pick up the ball between the two banks of defenders! Why the hell did we not push up the field compress the area of play allowing the midfield to press for the ball!  This is true, but if the side had not done this then they would have been pilloried for not keeping a stable formation. The grass always looks greener on the other side. 3, Playing players out of form, Young was poor in all three games, no pace, no guile and no idea. Was like playing with 10 men for four games.  You''ve got a point, but he was in fantastic form in the warm up games. It''s easy to say these things after the event. 4, When we got a formation which looked like we could win matched with in the Sweden game, we changed back to cater for a tired and poor Rooney, The guy was totally unfit, from the 10th minute onwards looked like he was going to collapse. There is no way on this earth he is WORLD CLASS, just a good pro.  He is world class. He had 2 poor games. There''s an unprecedented amount of pressure on him at international level, and I think that contributes to his underperformances. 5, Fitness levels were very poor, compared to all the teams we played we looked lethargic, second best, only for the last 30 minutes against Sweden did we look good.  That was down less to fitness than to style of play I think - as we weren''t playing a possession game, we tired easily as we always had to chase 6, A negative manager with a prefixed system and players, even if they didn’t perform were still preferred to attacking options.  He stuck with what was easiest to do with just 10 training sessions - essentially just keep to the Capello way of playing. Hodgson didn''t have time to change England''s tactics wholesale and he would have been crazy to try. 7, English players are just not world class but solid also-rans, the same the Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland and other Europeans teams. We are never in the same league as the Germans, Italians and Spanish! We''re probably about 8-10 in world rankings and I think this is about right. THis is usually reflected more or less by where we finish in tournaments. So no real surprise, no real shame, from that showing at the Euros. I don’t find it easy to accept being soundly beaten by one of the poorest Italian sides (just because they didn’t score doesn’t mean we weren’t soundly beaten). Why can’t we look to the Germans, they look good, mixture of youth and experience, combined with drive determination and expectation to win……..Klinsmann was almost laughing at just how poor we were last night!  Sad, sad times, I could have accepted going out giving it a good go, like we  did in 1990, 1996 but to go out on a whimper!!!!! Hodgson out, Harry in!
19.
Butland is only 19 and has never even played for Brum. There is no chance at all that he would  be considered as a replacement for Ruddy.  I think the story is complete rubbish.
Agreed. This is 2+2=55 stuff by the press. Clearly journalists who haven''t done their research trying to make a name for themselves by being able to claim a scoop by chance. I would listen to what people say on this messageboard more than what journalists say at this time of the year to be honest.
 20.

I wish people would understand that what is at stake at raising our wages for one player is much more than what that would actually cost the club.If we pay Bellamy £60k it would seriously p155 off the other players who are on a fraction of that causing unrest. Secondly it''d c0ck up any future transfer targets. If we''re approaching player Joe Bloggs and he knows that are top earner is Grant Holt on £20k a year after fighting tooth and nail to get that deal Joe Bloggs isn''t going to expect any more than that. But if Joe Bloggs knows Bellamy is on £60k he''ll want something relative.
1. I wish people would understand that we are now playing in the Premier League which is extremely tough and hard for us not to be relegated. Staying up this season is even more important than ever because the next TV income deal is enormous and we don''t want to get relegated and miss out. I don''t think Andy was saying that he didn''t want us to stay up. He is stating that unrest caused by big money signings could affect the club harmony and make relegation more likely. I think he has a valid point.2. 99% of players will choose the club that offers them the most money. NCFC would still only offer players what NCFC think they are worth NOT what the player thinks he is worth. I would hope that would be the case, but the potential disruption of upsetting a delicate wage structure would have to be factored into the equation. Norwich are in less of a position to take financial risks than other clubs (including probably Cardiff due to the takeover), and so other clubs would offer more to him, I''m sure. While he may have some emotional links to the club, he probably doesn''t have much contact with people in the region unlike in Cardiff where he will have all his friends and family.3. Bellamy probably is worth £60k a week for a season if on a free transfer and if he might be the difference between staying-up or relegation. See answer to question one. He didn''t prove enough to be the difference between going up and staying down at Cardiff last time.4. I think a front 2 of Holt and Bellamy would be an excellent combination. Bellamy can also play out wide. Agreed!! (unless they fell out - 2 big egos there!!)5. Bellamy still speaks very highly of Norwich and his time at the club. I can''t recall him ever saying anything of the sort. Not disputing this, just saying that I can''t recollect it.
22.
@Kolin Kob Please explain why Grant Holt trying to get a significiant pay rise in Football is greed and not looking after his family? Lets say for example that he wants to send his kids to private school. Perhaps he believes that means giving his kids the best chance of success? Decent private schools can cost between 6k to 30k a year. If he sent his 3 girls to private education aged 4 to 18, at 6k a year, that''s still roughly 300k. Then University afterwards + postgraduade study, possibly 200k+. So 500k. He probably doesn''t have that saved already, and he might want to consider money for himself and his wife if he cant get a well paid job after football. Nobody is trying to tug at heart strings. Try and put yourself in Holt''s position. As a father he might be considering things like this. It isn''t greed, perhaps just trying to give his family the best opportunities in life.
Everyone could always justify clamouring for more money in their lives by using their family as the same reason. This is not something particularly to praise someone for, and I don''t think this argument stands up as a result. I hate the suggestion that someone by simply earning more money is somehow doing a virtuous act. Are people who do not scramble for as much money as they possibly can in their lives less honourable, decent people? I certainly think not. Wealth does not equal virtue. My key point more (perhaps a bit garbled), anyway, is that Grant Holt''s agent had no right to push for better terms for Holt and to see it as an injustice that he was put towards the back of a queue as other players'' contracts were sorted out - players who without havng their contracts sorted quickly would no longer have a club or a job.I don''t think Grant Holt will have done anything wrong by leaving; he''s been a great player for us and he will remain a folk hero whatever, I am sure.
 23.

I''ve had a look and found this thread http://services.pinkun.com/forums/pinkun/cs/forums/2628209/ShowPost.aspx Barnett was in the Top 10 defenders in the Premiership until the end of October, according to PPI. Probably would''ve have been higher if it wasn''t for that ridiculous red card and pen given against him v Stoke.
I think Barnett was unfortunate in some ways.   It was early in the season when he played - this was when the rubbishing of our players was at its height by the doom mongers.   But - all the defenders made mistakes all season and the sending off (which was unjustified) just made him look worse.     He did make mistakes, but he also made some superb tackles, interceptions and blocks in all the matches he played in - hence his high place in the stats.     Lost his place to Whitbread - who also came in and made mistakes leading to goals.   I''m not saying that Barnett should be a number one choice in defence - but he never let us down - certainly no more than Whitbread and Ward who also made mistakes leading to goals.
Glad I''m not the only person who hasn''t written him off. I think Barnett will play a good role for us in the future if given the chance
 24.
Must have been watching a different Crofts to me last season, I would say he definitely ain''t up to it.   As for Chris Martin, what has he done in his many games in the Championship over the years to suggest he can be a Prem player? Maybe there''s some hidden talent there unlocked, but I havne''t seen it in the Championship.   I know age is taken into consideration but, these are his seasons in the Championship... 20 games 5 goals 10 games 0 goals 32 games 6 goals 28 games 7 goals Above is just taken from Wiki - So assuming that is correct.   In the lower leagues he''s had a better ratio, but in the Championship he hasn''t shown it yet. He may show it in a couple of years, but I don''t think we should hold onto a player just hoping, when they are 23 years of age. We are in the Prem now and are not short of money, so we should be looking for better.   All in my humble opinion.   PS. I love Lappin and wouldn''t care if he stayed.
Crofts was good last season in my opinion. There were better players keeping him out of the team though, and that is likely to be even more the case this season. I would be happy if he stayed, though that may not be the case. Chris Martin - I would like to see him get a chance to play next season, just simply because I feel he has a point to prove. Last time he had a point to prove, he really proved it! His game isn''t about goals really, as we know, so I would imagine he will only stay if one of our strikers in on top-striking form so that he is not forced into the role of goalscorer. To be honest, my head tells me he will probably leave.Lappin - Premiership quality? yes. Can we find better players meaning he won''t get a game? possibly.Does anyone know where there is a comprehensive list of players contract expiries? Can''t remember who has been offered extensions and who hasn''t?
