  1. Really looking forward to the 2nd part of the season. COYY
  2. Thanks Don. Articulate as usual. I have been fortunate to play football at a decent level and as of now been a owner of a successful construction company in the North West of England. I have also been lucky in the respect that I have had the ear of very respected football people in the circles I am in. Any new ways at looking how football can improve, from outside should be analysed.
  3. Great points. However, how you become successful requires many unpredictable parts falling in line. Some of the points you raise about engineering are valid, but in football there are so many variables in comparison. When predicting outcomes on football, you also have to factor the opposition, poor officiating, etc.
  4. Good question. Possibly condense season ticket holders who attend say, 95%+ to certain parts of stands. Allow blocks i to be available in those stands from the club not renewing season ticket holders who do not attend 95% from the previous season. Use or lose. Some people can afford to buy a season ticket and cherry pick games. For the club it's a big dilemma. Build a bigger stand and hope season tickets rise alongside the increase in capacity. Or gamble and build a new stand, but drop season ticket prices across the whole stadium. Maybe bigger discounts for fans who buy a 5,10 year ticket. Shame the Holiday Inn wasn't demolished and 1500+ seats added.
  5. I agree. Hence, the Lion and Castle. Problem is the football on the pitch isn't bringing in the fans. If we were fighting for automatic promotion, I imagine the stands would be full.
  6. Surely with modern health and safety measures, actual attendance is vital. There is never a precise value, but being 5000 out is strange. Also isn't it falsifying figures in regard to any potential investment?
  7. A paid seat filled may spend at the ground. A paid seat not used doesn't. Unfortunately for us, we don't get many football tourists who could fill those paid not used seats. Staffing levels at the ground still need to be based on season tickets filled. Real dilemma for clubs like us. Next generation of fans is key. The Great work done by the club, to allow kids for a quid help build a solid season ticket base. As to the original question. Delia speaks at times, like any supporter would on a forum like this. We all have different ideas on how this club should be run. In her position, she will be scrutinised for what is said.
  8. Has also allowed Nunez to have more influence in the game.
  9. Didn't think our midfield was any better frankly. They didn't pressure us in that area. In fact I think it highlighted how poor our midfield is. Slow in possession and lack drive to support/get beyond the forwards. Nunez won his fair share of 50/50, but Sara I thought was lacking when he had anyone near him attacking or defensively.
  10. He has all the physical attributes to be a top player. He needs to believe in himself and he will go from strength to strength if he does. Great celebration with Wagner today. Love seeing passion like that.
  11. MA saying things aren't always as bad/good as they seem, is true to a point. But in baseball, there is no relegation. Franchise sport is fairer in that there is more equality in finance etc, allows for more competitive sport. This is what I think we need his team to bring on board. Getting the right coaching staff and recruitment team, means you can level things out on a small budget.
  12. Sara is still playing in the wrong position. He shouldn't be anywhere near our penalty area. He's the only player who has vision to hurt the opposition. Take off Hernadez and bring on gibbs to play alongside Mclean. Barnes off for M Callum.
  13. Probably missing Rowe. We set up similar. Cannot blame Wagner for poor passing during the game that turned over possession. But the midfield still looked disjointed. Sara still expected to play in a position that doesn't suit his physicality. Don't think we saw a huge change in the way we play, just an opposition who are at a crossroads aswell. We will see change in our style soon, but this is probably being formulated behind the scenes. Two wins on the bounce is great and we all hope we push on from this. In football it's often harder to build positivity, than slide into negativity. Players are no different. That's why we see teams go on great runs and terrible runs. At the moment until changes arise, keep ticking the points tally over every game will bring momentum.
  14. Plus our keeper was on some sort of loan from Southampton. I would agree, decent rate of lads earning a living from football. I might be wrong, but what the academy allows us to do is scout a wider area. Brentford have a huge population within the 100 miles they can scout without cat 1.
  15. Our most successful periods in football coincide with football being more level. Our prestige etc was no different then as to now. We could compete.
  16. True. But the cost of running a club outside of the new leagues would drop. It would also require the FA to adapt as well. Clubs run more on good recruitment, attendance, would thrive. Money just thrown into football, often loaned so the owners get great returns should be ruled out.
  17. This is how world sports is run. Franchise football is coming. Which is fine, it will allow the reset of football as many have asked for. Many ask for the current boards heads, fair enough in the current world of football. But I think change is coming. Funnily enough our current model will see us as forerunners.
  18. Truth is if he wasn't so vocal with the fans, think he would have been given more slack. The club should say thank you. It's a polite way of parting ways. He has gone now, let's move on.
  19. Farkes style of play was exciting, but relied on quality players. I have always wondered how a manager like Pep would fare with our squad that Farke had. He probably would have got a bit more out of them, but would we have escaped relegation? Probably, reason being coaches at that level tweak their systems to suit. The issue the club had at that time was fans hate seeing their team lose. It doesn't matter what league we're in, we want results. Hindsight possibly shows we should have stuck with Farke. On the flip side, what if we hired a coach who kept us up? The stars aligned for those two promotions.
  20. Because we don't really know what input Webber had on team set up. Now he's gone if Wagner stays will we see anything new on the team set up from Knapper? Or is it a case that Wagner's tactics don't suit these players?
