1.
Because he''s transformed a team of lower league punts who played with courage, confidence and positivity and who were greater than the sum of their parts into a collection of hesitant, cautious and negative individuals who, despite costing multi millions, accrued less points last season than under PL and, yet again, have less points now than this stage in our return season.
Are you serious? You mean those footballing giants now plying their trade at Bolton, Bournemouth, Derby, Wigan, Middlesborough and Barnsley? If those players were so good why are they not playing for better teams? Lambert was a wonderful manager for us who made a great team out of some good players. Hughton is seeking to make a team from some good and some very good players. He bought seven new players in the summer who are all better than what we had. Some are playing in a new country whilst done are new to the Prem. Many have had their integration into the Prem and the team disrupted by injury. Of course they and the team are not yet ready or at their best. Of course some of the performances are nervous and hesitant. Blaming it all on the manager is unrealistic and unfair.
 2.
Jonzey wrote the following post at 2013-12-27 11:18 PM: Let me ask you Wiz. How does paying off Hughton and his backroom staff millions of pounds, and replacing him like-for-like help the club exactly? IF we are paying millions for Hughton, Trollope and Calderwood then we are being short changed for sure. Just how they can take anything from the club for the quite awful football this side is playing under their leadership is downright deception.
Here we go with the wild and ridiculous assertions that just ride through any attempt at debate. Only an idiot would say that the football is awful. It is sometimes but it has been ok on others and has even been good on occasions. We have won give games and drawn four. Not easy if the football is awful. We have lost nine not easy if the football is good. The glib comments like this which are presumably meant to be funny just polarise the debate and demean those arguing rationally for a change of manager. It is not awful and it''s not great. Both absolutes are ridiculous. It is much more complex and graduated than that.
 3. Because Martin charges too often into the opposition half, goes ten yards, stops and passes to Turner. It''s not hard to be accurate when you pass safely much of the time
 4. Whilst I am sorry that a decent and honest man has lost his job, part of me is not sorry that this pathetic business is over. Perhaps they''ll find something else to talk on MOTD
 5.

What on earth have they done to our dream team, get them back pronto . http://www.astonvilla.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=55429&start=1
Sounds like they have been found out, and are frustrated that they are out of their depth. Just like they would have been had they stayed another season with us. Aint karma a bitch?
You''re right of course morty, but Cully was never like that here, it must be vile at Villa atm.[:D]
No viler that you want to make it for Hughton. No doubt there are Lambert haters at Villa who want to "Drive the Sod out". You are selective in your empathy and sensitivity as well as in your bullying. Or is it called hypocrisy?
 6. Shouldn''t you change "Allviews are my own" To "All my views are monotone"?. You are getting dangerously close to obsession in your posts.
 7. But Juge, Highland keeps saying we''ve got the more difficult half of the season to come.
 8. You keep saying that. I ask you again by what logic you think the second half of the season is the harder. We have been to Arsenal, City, Spurs and Liverpool as well as awkward places like West Brom, Stoke , Newcastle and Sunderland. To come is Old Trafford, Chelsea, Cardiff and Swansea and Everton. There are no easier games but I cannot see how this is so much harder than what we have come through.
 9. To analyse how far we have improved this season now is just unrealistic. We are integrating seven players into the squad some of whom have not played in the Prem including two playing in a new country. Some have been injured as well. Teams do not tell and build understanding overnight and when players burst on the scene they often burn bright and short. See Jelavic and Benteke. I appreciate this is too reasoned an argument for some but we are behind the curve because of injuries and disruptions. Hooper and Rucky have been out. We miss Tettey a scarily large amount. All in all, we are in a reasonable given the circumstances of our means and the task in hand this season.
 10. Merry Christmas to all. To those happy with their lot and those happy in their misery, Happy Christmas. May what matters to you happen and may those who love you give you that love.
 11. Insofaras I can understand your reply, I''m not sure you disagree with me. Lambert does not have a style as Wenger or Rodgers or Hughton do. I repeat my question. How could you replace Lambert with a manager to carry on similarly to how he had? It was a skill personal to him.
 12.
-------PurpleCanary------- I don''t buy that. It may be true for a few fans. But there are deep-seated concerns about Hughton that are perfectly sensible. --------------------------------- Me either, look at Swansea who had to get a new manager, they didn''t change their style and actually moved up another level with a League Cup win and Europa Cup appearance. The fantasy continues at the Liberty Stadium.
But that is the point Foggy and if you will forgive me, it is a widespread misconception. Swansea were able to replace Rodgers with a similar style manager in Laudrup because the effect of the manager was to require a style of play. In that case, you get a manager who supports the style and the style continues. It went from Martinez to Rodgers and then to Laudrup Stoke could have replaced Pulis with Bothroyd or even Malky and kept playing the similar way. Lambert did not have a style as such. His success was, as widely reported by the players being about inspiration and not tactics. To replicate Lambert''s style, you would need another manager who could take our players and make them believe they were better than they were. It was not just a case of saying "Attack" and everything would come right. So, where would we find another manager like Lambert? Another inspirational manager to tell the players they would overcome whatever? Such leaders are far and few between and such skills rarely succeed for long at this level because better teams will prevail more often than not. Replacing Lambert and carrying on as we were was not an option. He was a one off. Anyone else had to do something different. We were never Swansea and it was never a case of the new manager just picking up the baton and carrying on with the project as it was at Swansea. The evidence for that is that most of the players that went with Lambert into the Prem and did so well for him in that first season are now in the Championship. He made them play better than they were but that is a rare gift and not one that anybody could just take over.
 13. Not just me: Steve Gedge "Had Sunderland won they might still be bottom of the table, but would go into their forthcoming fixtures against Cardiff and Aston Villa full of hope for breaking clear of the drop zone. Now, after a frustrating afternoon, on and off the field, they must be wondering where their next victory is going to come from" Paddy Davitt "Sunderland’s sixth winless top flight game kept them marooned at the very bottom and listing dreadfully. Poyet’s side require five points simply to edge out of the bottom three - given their parlous goal difference - another four points just to draw level with Norwich. Those are huge deficits approaching the half-way mark of the Premier League season". I really think not losing to Sunderland was the most important outcome. Our achieving that has left Sunderland as good as down and there are now two relegation places left.
 14. Go on then I''ll bite. But by what bizarre logic is this the easier half of the season?
 15. I am happy with a point because apart from anything else, we are three points further away from Sunderland than if we had lost.
 16. We''ve introduced another seven players into the squad with four or five in the first team. The team is not more cohesive than a year again because it is still evolving. It needs time for the new players to settle in. We will reach a stage where new players are fewer and blend in easier but that time is not yet and to expect otherwise is unrealistic
 17.
The less Becchio plays, the better he seems to get.
Funny but sad Sad but true

It''s fiction.
So you can state that there was NO falling out between Bowkett and Paul Lambert ?I shan''t ask for evidence just you written statement that there wasn''t
Are you going to be kind enough to explain what it was that they fell out over please City1 then we can decide for ourselves who was to blame. Did Lambert get driven out??
I tried asking him that earlier in the thread but City 1st prefers playing " I know a secret you don''t know na na na na nahhh!". So don''t hold your breath.
 20. Ever heard of Wigan OP? The latest in a long line of clubs to have a good cup run and be relegated. A dishonourable list that includes both Sunderland and ourselves. You would think that cup victories would inspire a team in the league but there are so many instances where it doesn''t. I can''t see Sunderland bucking that trend on present form.

 22. Couldn''t agree more Beardy. Football fans including members of this board are very quick to forget whose money is actually being spent and that who pays the piper calls the tune.
