1. We''ve played 16 games so could have won 16. But we haven''t. We''ve won 3.
2. I''m not sure that it is a good idea in this day and age to be discussing on a public forum where his kids go to school especially when he''s away for most of the week. Just because he''s a footballer who happened to play for your team it doesn''t mean you have any ownership iof him. How would you feel if the comings and goings of your wife and kids were discussed on an open forum?
3. Villa''s win at Bournemouth was the first game of the season which must seem to them like another lifetime. Their fourth point was at home to Sunderland. Other than that they gave scored one point from 11 games. Teams still have to pick up,some points from the other games, something both they and Sunderland have spectacturly failed on. Again an indicator but only one of several which have to be looked at together to give a fuller picture.
4. Have spent a dull Sunday afternoon looking at premier league tables after 13 games for the past 20 years which is a good indicator although of course not conclusive. This time last year Leicester were bottom with 10 points, ie double Villa''s current total. Only Sunderland back in the day had 5 points and were relegated in that season. Teams like Sheffield Wed, Bradford, Derby and Ipswich, all of whom were dire and went down, had a minimum of 7 points. On that basis Villa and Sunderland have it all to do to stay up. As I say only a pointer but knowing history often helps to predict the future.. So on that basis we have to finish above one other team.
5. From all accounts Villa were woeful again today. They are perhaps one or two more consecutive defeats from being in an impossible position. With Newcastle hammered at home and a Swansea Bournemouth draw results couldn''t have gone any better for us today. Hoping that Sunderland take a tonking on Monday. Villa and Sunderland have tried the change the manager card without any upturn in fortune. Bournemouth are defensively worse than us, .osing a two goal lead will do their confidence no good. We have to win this little league table to be ok.
6. With the current hysteria swirling around it is time for the board to state in unequivocal terms that AN''s position is not under threat and, come what may, he will still be in the seat until at the very least the start of next season. This is in the best short, and medium term position for the club to take. Sacking a manager is the easy option but stability is what is required. The worst case scenario is relegation putting the club back in a similar position as the where we were when AN was appointed. Chopping and changing every 5 minutes helps nobody, read Villa, Sunderland, etc. Time to hold nerve and very publicly support the manager
7. We play Newcastle away two weeks on Sunday (so presumably a live TV match). The toon play Chelsea and Man City in the next 2 games so very likely to go into the match against us on two points from 8 games, and winless. That would make it a massive game for McClaren with the fans on his back and a game everyone will see as an absolute must win. Might we put the final bail in his coffin. Interesting times ahead and 6 points to play for first but can''t help looking forward to the reaction of the self acclaimed ''best fans in the country '' if the result doesn''t go their way.
8. Change takes time. Believe me it''s positively enlightened when compared to what came out of the terraces in the days of Johnny Miller or Justin Fashanu.
9. My new hobby is to laugh at, and correct, grammar on your messages. Let''s start with ''try to pronounce'' rather than your effort. There''s always someone to look down on. Doesn''t feel too good does it?
10. When I llived in London in the 90s Stan could often be found in a pub in Brentford or Richmond. Always more than happy to have a chat but sometimes it was difficult to understand what he was saying if it was after 5pm. Liked his pop, maybe a bit much.
11. Put quite simply Thailand'' has a tourist industry which is one of is countries major revenue streams. The tourism industry Is part driven by the sex industry. An NGO has not a cat in hel''s chance of lobbying the government on this case or for more general change. Change will only conme about eventually due to pressure from the international community but this is way off. Therefore it matters not whether the girls were of age or underage, all parties want to put it behind them and move on.
12. I am sure that the board will have already assured him he has a job for at least the next two seasons. They will have judged the character of the nan and assessed that providing him with that level f re-assurance will not result in compacency. This has to be judged against the fact that he is looking to move his family to Norfolk, a big step, and is not an habitual footballing nomad, so a move is a big deal for his family. Even if we were to go down does changing manager for changing manager''s sake normally benefit a club. Interesting to se how Sean Dyche and Burnley fare next year . I''d hazard a guess at better than QPR and Hull provided he can re-invest some of the Ings money.
13. The 360 film will not be a fly on the wall, warts and all review of the season. It will be carefully stage managed by the club to ensure there is nothing remotely controversial about it, for example an insight into seb bassong''s loan or Neil Adams departure. My daughter got an "inside track " One Direction DVD fair xmas. The 360 DVDs will be as siclkly sweet as that. I wouldn''t bother with it personally but each to their own.
14. Too slow, never a premier league player so cut the boy loose and let him find his level. Yes, we won the FA youth cup and that was some achievement but that doesn''t mean we have to hang onto players in the hope they''ll eventually make the grade. Take it for what it was, but the reality is if even one of the team make the first team as a regular then I''d'' be surprised. AN will make hard nosed decisions based on the evidence before him not ones based on romance and sentiment.
15.
A happy release.Perhaps he''ll go back to our Yorkshire nursery club.WACCOE will be in overdrive when they get the news.
A happy release Ricardo. That'' s a bit of an over reaction. Hope you contained it. Personally I prefer a Chinese happy ending.
16. There are lots of unrealistic expectations on this site. It''s not your own money. Yes, £10 million is a lot of money but it''s not £25 million for Andy Carroll or silly loan money for Falcao. Go down a level to Soldado at Spurs, Hernandez at Hull or Altidore at Sunderland. All premier league clubs have got them but they''ve also got the money to take calculated, affordable risks. This is what RVW was. It didn''t pay off, write it off and move on. Being in the top league changes the financial imperative and you can''t run the club with a corner shop mentality of thrift and parsimony. To do so ends in gallant relegation a la Burnley. So yeh in an ideal world you want your club to get more right than wrong but it doesn''t always turn out like that. BTW Harry Kane didn''t look like a 30 goal a season nan when he was with us last season. And for those with linger memories I still think that £300k on Drazen Muzinic in 1980 was a worse buy.not sure what that would be worth now but probably around the £10 million mark so perhaps RVW was not the worst ever signing! We can afford to take these risks. Some pay off and some don''t. RVW had a reasonable goal scoring record at a reasonable level before coming to us. If there was such a thing as a certainty they''d all be at it and life would be easier.
17. I wouldn''t be too harsh on hooper . With Hughton''s set up Messi would have struggled to get the service up front to score more than a handful of goals. Neil obviously also likes to play with one up top but he encourages midfielders and the full backs to push on hence the high goal tally for this season. Neill will have to work out whether he will be more circumspect against better quality opposition who can pick you off at will. Jerome will have it all to do next season to score double figures and if it''s one up front he''ll only be playing an hour before fresh legs , Grabban, is on. I still think Hooper will have a role to pay next season s he us the best natural goals scirer we have and coming off the bench, especially at home, might be where he adds value. We don''t gave the resources to waste £10-15 million on someone who might score. Better working with what we have.
18. Hopefully that''s one of the relegation slots dealt with then.
19. Whilst taking time to luxuriate in the post promotion afterglow I can''t help but be excited for next year. One thing is for sure, AN will have a different attitude to Hughton. I can''t se AN talking up opponents before and after every match, giving his players (by and large the same ones as yesterday) such an inférioritty complex that they are beaten before they set foot on the pitch. He will not set up routinely for a draw or to sneak a win. The board should unequivocally tell him ihe has a guaranteed job for the next two seasons no matter what occurs next year. Let him build for the long term and not worry about short term goals. There are at least three teams worse than us in the premier league. The other two promoted clubs lack the experience at this level and the resources, you''ve then got Newcastle, Sunderland and Villa who stumble from one season to the next with a lack of unity bordering on anarchy - one of these will implode. Chuck in West Ham who are on one of their familiar downward spirals and I''m confident with the organisation and team spirit engendered by AN allied to the quality throughout the squad that we cannot only survive but prosper next season. Great times to be a Canary.
20. Yes football is cyclical but the way Ipshit are carrying on they must be on the menstrual one
21. Was 19 with all my life before me, now 49 with the benefit of wisdom and achy knees. The Berlin Wall and Iron curtain were still there, I had my first car, a shit brown Austin allegro. Carling black label at less than £1 a pint. After a game I''d wait eagerly for the van to arrive with the hard copy pinkun and devour every word in it. 2015 we have t''internet and instant forums. Retirement is not too far away on the horizon and I worry how I''ll afford university fees for my kids. Will I still be around in 30 years time, what will the future look like. Les than 3 hrs to kick off, I can''t honestly think of an occasion in my life when I''ve been more nervous. That''s my last 30 years, what about yours? COYY
22. Don''t forget to get your mum to wipe your arse before you leave home
23. It''s going to be a long week whilst juvenile fans of either club whip themselves up into a frenzy of hatred for an opposition they''d previously been indifferent to. For the sake of completeness of course it makes absolute sense that the two clubs receive equal allocation. As for my fellow Norwich fans demanding more on the basis of higher attendances, take that to its logical conclusion if Norwich ever ended up in a final against Man Utd. We''d end up with one nan and his dog with the rest going to the others. Not really on is it?
24. IMHO whichever team wins on Monday will be the best equipped of the three promotees to stay up. I just can''t see Watford or Bournemouth being able to cope with premier league demands whereas either us or Boro will have half a chance.
