1. McVeigh was fantastic up until about 2003.  Then his agent started getting involved with talk of big contracts and his form gradually fell away.  Although he played his part in the Championship season, he''d been dropped for Kevin Cooper by the end. Didn''t do much after that.  Think his time is done here.
 2. I recently saw on another forum (a reliably good one at that), Dennis getting torn to bits for a fawning article on why Alan Shearer was a great choice for the Newcastle job.  It was staggeringly bad. Enjoy the free lunches while you can Mick!
 3. Nutty, you take everything so personally.  This is the sort of thing I was referring to.  And I''ve seen this sort of stuff on here before.
At some point in the future; we will either improve,  get lucky , get a new owner or all three. The 18,000 of us who are "real" fans; In sickness and in health, until death do us part. Will turn on the glory seekers and sing "where were you when we were s***". All you first Wizards should understand. The loyal 18k are not supporting the rubbish appointments made by a rubbish board; or the lack of commitment made by overpaid mercenaries. We are Norwich fans by birthright. It is a tattoo that cannot be removed. Iwill admire those fans visiting Carrow road next season who will hope to stay in div 1 and not even dream of the premiership. They too are real fans and not keyboard warriors
Please don''t think I''m slagging off everyone who renews.  I just hate this culture among some (not everyone) that if you don''t have a season ticket then you''re a glory seeker.  I can''t go to every game and its not by choice.  I also hate the fact that I know of people who constantly renew their tickets out of habit yet don''t enjoy it.
 4. Good post Canary 02 111.  We need a united front more than ever before.
 5. Some good posts on here. Yesterday was actually quite cathartic.  The discontent coming from the fans was not only from the majority but from a large set of fans who, by and large, had applied for tickets.  That means supporters who attend regularly rather than glory hunt.  People who have seen us reach dizzy heights and plumb the depths.  It was from a large set of hardcore fans and I felt pleased that people actually let their feelings known rather than sit and take it (like we did at Fulham - and I''ll hold my hands up and say I was one of them). Chops comment about a focal point is spot on.  The fans are missing a voice, or an organisation and now is the time they need it more than ever.  It doesn''t have to disrupt the team - we all want to go back up as soon as possible - but its only right that we have a genuine platform for our views and input during this turbulent time at our club.
 6. Even though he''s still under contract, I wonder if its the end for Drury too?  In the last five years he seems to have faded away with loss of form and injuries.  He''s almost mirrored the decline of the club.
 7. I hoped it would work for Gunny, but the cracks have shown the last half a dozen games.  They were papered over with all the fuss about the refereeing decisions which even though they went against us (and in the end, may not have mattered) were used as too much of an excuse.  The 2nd half against Ipswich is a case in point in which we didn''t turn up and also didn''t take advantage of a side that were playing men way out of position.  Nobody really noticed because of the penalty hoo-ha. Good goalie, good charity raiser, and good bloke, but he shouldn''t have been in charge in the first place.  Even if we had stayed up, I didn''t want him in charge next season.  Looked a broken man yesterday, but he''s a tough guy and I don''t think he''ll want lots of sympathy - he knows there''s worse things in life.
 8. Can we have enough of this, "If you haven''t got a season ticket, then you''re not a loyal supporter" crap, as some idiots on this board would have you believe?  There''s people who can''t always get to games (work, living away, etc) who are more passionate than some of the dullards I see going to games who just renew out of habit.
 9.
Is it just me who''d detected this? Munby has put a great deal of our failure this season down to too many loan signings; Doncaster says we''ll still be using the loan option. Munby blames Roeder and Grant; Delia says she "disagrees". Martin Armstrong was forced out, Barry Skipper left before asking questions about where we were heading. The Turners appeared one minute, then vanished with no explanation the next. This is all just supposition - but what I suspect is it''s Delia who''s had the casting vote with regard to various managers, and it''s Delia who''ll be pushing, absurdly, for Gunn to get the job. I suspect that Munby can see things a little more clearly - albeit he still doesn''t really get it, and is likely to be outflanked within the board by Delia, Doomy and Foulger (AKA The Invisible Man). And while it''s perfectly possible the Turners left for their own financial reasons, could it be that they spent a year doing due diligence, were horrified at the ridiculous expenditure on non-footballing matters, made their recommendations for change, and were - in the manner of governments ignoring inquiries everywhere - just completely ignored? Just a thought. But if I''m right, the chaos and decline will surely just continue.
Bigfeller, I don''t know how much their own finances had to do with them leaving, but I genuinely know for a fact the Turners were also fed up with the way the club was being run.  You''re almost spot on with your theory about them.
 10.
When Omozusi was playing everyone was calling for Otsemobor.
And vice versa.  I thought they were both pony personally.
 11. I stuck up for Marshall earlier in the season, but its becoming clear his all-round game isn''t very good whether it is his kicking, distribution, commanding the area, crosses, etc.  Reminds me a bit of Paul Gallacher in that he''s a good shot-stopper but has flaws in too many other areas.  That''s what people forget about Robert Green - they (rightly) remember the saves but don''t remember how good he was in the other aspects of his game.  How often did he spill a cross? Marshall''s not the worst player in the side and yes, he''s a had a poor team in front of him, but he''s certainly played his part.  If he''s going to stay next season, then we must have decent cover in place.  He''s really not had anyone to challenge him.
 12. Once Omozusi had gone back to Fulham (and he wasn''t much better) we had absolutely no cover at right-back for the rest of the season.  It was always one of our weakest positions and I was amazed it wasn''t addressed earlier (although I was led to believe Leijer could play in that position but that may be wrong). Oh for the days of Marc Edworthy!
 13. Depends how much they''ve already paid us for his original fee.  Wouldn''t surprise me if the loan spell is costing us very little.
 14. Martin Peters.  More recently, Huckerby and probably Gunn. Add Jeremy Goss to that list too.  Lots of neutrals remember his exploits from 1993.
 15.

What a load of rubbish. How can you take it seriously when Paul Robinson has been put ahead of Peter Shilton and Gordon Banks.
How can facts be rubbish? Odd. Do you really think that Shilton, for example, didn''t make bloopers as bad as Robinson''s? Cameroon, Italy and Argentina in the World cup Finals ring a bell? OTBC
These ones are.
 16. Not sure many of our bosses pre-1970''s did much.  Otherwise Ron Saunders did great things with Villa and John Bond took Man City to the Cup Final.
 17. I remember they showed a few highlights the day after on ITV''s ''The Match'' which I used to have on tape.  There''s a few things I remember from coverage at the time in the press as well. It was indeed O''Leary''s record appearance.  The goal he scored was his first for SIX years! As someone mentioned there was a flare up before Norwich''s 2nd goal when Allen and O''Leary tangled (Allen elbowed him and O''Leary proceeded to drag Allen by the hair). The penalties were a disgrace.  Arsenal''s first was a handball by Linighan (watch it now and its still not obvious) and the second was a ''foul'' by Butterworth after Michael Thomas fell on him.  Something stank rotten that day and I''m still bitter about it! The ''punch-up'' was mostly people pushing and shoving.  It was blown hugely out of proportion, nobody was sent off or booked, yet both clubs got slaughtered in the media.  I can remember various people (Stanley Matthews being one) saying how disgraceful it was and how the game had gone downhill, etc, etc, which really rankled considering Norwich had an immaculate disciplinary record at the time. It heightened the rivalry between the two clubs (both had been going for the title the season before) and for a short time after, the chant on the Barclay was "We hate Arsenal".  It was quite intense for a while. Incidentally renegadecanary, I think there''s quite a bit of footage on the season review video of 89-90 if you can get a copy.
 18. This is more about proving a point to ''nasty'' Glenn Roeder than actually looking at the bigger picture.  I agree that Hucks should have had a better send-off, but in truth (apart from a brilliant three months between Jan-March 2007), his contribution since we were relegated was generally inconsistent.  There were moments of magic, but too many games where he didn''t perform and didn''t contribute an awful lot on the field.  I''m not convinced he would have made a great deal of difference this season either. We''ve had this all before when big favourites like Fleck and Cureton came back and it didn''t work out.  I fear the same here.
 19. To be honest, I''ve said my piece and its nice to see the usual suspects get so wound up.  Truth hurts doesn''t it?  Goodnight!
 20.

......But the club has been good for her too. It has boosted her profile and kept her in the public eye for a long time. It has boosted her career which may well have died a death long ago.  How much has she really lost from being involved with the club?  She still has the shares too. Think of Norwich and everybody thinks of Delia. Even when she made an idiot of herself on the pitch in 2005, it meant that Norwich''s brief Premiership stint would always be remembered for her. Not for beating Man Utd. Not for Dean Ashton''s goals. Not for anything else. But for Delia.........
I''m afraid that''s complete rubbish. Her cookery stuff made her a long, long time before her association with NCFC & has a miniscule effect on her ''saleability'' as a celebrity; it''s about as important to her persona as her Christianity - it''s seen as just another little interesting quirk. Her shares are now pretty well worthless. And, I''m afraid, think of Norwich is something 99% of the poulation would never do sans the Delia connection .....
I should have said, "Think of Norwich City and everybody thinks of Delia".  Like it or not, people do. She was a huge success long before the NCFC involvement.  I just think that its helped keep her in the public eye longer and been an additional benefit.  I''m not naive enough to think she joined the board for that reason, but it didn''t do her any harm
 21.

To be honest, its really the sycophantic crap that does it for me, be it from the media or from the usual brigade of fans. I thank her for being a supporter and I thank her for the money that she actually has put into the club (when it hasn''t been shares which have made her and Michael more powerful than the reviled Chase ever was). But the club has been good for her too. It has boosted her profile and kept her in the public eye for a long time. Not for beating Man Utd. Not for Dean Ashton''s goals. Not for anything else. But for Delia. We get the spiel that she alone saved the club when in fact she was part of the process. The roles of other figures such as Geoffrey Watling, Martin Armstrong and Gordon Bennett (especially the latter) are slowly airbrushed out of history.  The press never dare question her when we are losing and when we are winning, they provide her with easy answers.   But Delia has been in the media game a long time.  She knows when to speak and (with one major exception) knows when not to.  She knows how to keep the fans happy ("best supporters in the world" - repeat till fade) without publicly addressing the real issues of a club that is in its worst state for a generation. I don’t hate her and I don’t despise her, but I''m not fooled by the constant hype and revision of history.  Delia is slowly turning into a Diana-esque figure in the eyes of some supporters and the press. The canonization is slowly beginning and it will get worse with time. She''s a successful lady who along with her husband, put some money into a football club.  She also hasn''t done a very good job in the long run.  She''s not a saint.
Absolutely 100% spot on [Y] [*]
And where on this thread has anybody hyped up Delia or revisited history. The only hype has been against her to try to prove she''s a lia... inconsistent.
I''m referring to the fans and media in general, and to be honest, you''d be one of them.
 22.
I just think Semmy hasnt done this season what he did last season, and Cave-Brown got released by Roeder didnt he? and i thought he could have been an ok right back. I think the same with Bertrand this season, much better last season, Drury should have got more chance to play, his career could be over if we get Bertrand in permanetly
I think the thing that Roeder got wrong with Bertrand was that he kept playing him week in week out regardless of how badly he was performing.   The guy clearly needed dropping or a rest and its clear that a spell out of the team (since Gunny arrived) may have done him some good. However, I will defend Roeder when it comes to Cave-Brown and Drury.  The former is not pulling up trees at Leyton Orient right now.  The latter sadly, has not been at the races for several seasons due to injury and loss of form.  I''m beginning to wonder if he''ll ever get back to his best.
 23. I''ve seen players at Carrow Road get far more stick than Fotheringham ever did, and better players at that.  It irritates me that the whole blame for his demise is laid squarely at the door of the fans when in fact his performaces stank from the very first game of the season at Coventry.  I can even remember the fans singing his name at one of the Autumn home matches, so its hardly been a vitriolic campaign of hate has it? We''ve hardly struggled since Gunny booted him out.  Good riddance to him.
