  1. If we didn''t have Josh, I''d be miffed, but we have a capeable replacement and now enough money to let Webber and Farke go after some of their more expensive targets. This sale wasn''t accounted for, maybe they knew before Franke came in but apart from that transfer they''ve worked to a much smaller budget than they''ll get now which should give them a lot of room to reshape the squad closer to how Farke wants it. Jacob is a great player, but we got the same money we got for Redmond last year, who had already had two seasons of Pl football and a Championship promotion in his locker. I was hoping we could squeeze Newcastle for a bit more given their desperation but it''s not the worst fee we''ve ever gotten. Plus before when we''ve made a sale like this we haven''t usually had a perfect replacement waiting in the wings which helps
  2. If we''re obviously working hard every game and never give up or roll over to get smashed 5-0 I''ll be happy with upper mid table this year. This new regime is going to take time to work, the rewards will be worth it but I''m seriously worried most fans are expecting another promotion push and have totally unrealistic expectations for next year. I sound like a broken record now but please give Webber and Farke time! I wouldn''t be surprised at all if we get off to a poor start like Reading did last year, their fans stuck with it though and Reading fans are known be to 5h1te, I''m just praying we show our class as fans and do the same. Southampton/Huddersfield/Swansea/Bournemouth etc etc didn''t get where they are after one transfer window and most had a benefactor pumping money in. Please support and give these guys time!
  3. Play foreign teams! French if we want a physical but not dirty challenge, Spanish and German teams to test us technically. I have no idea why we play clubs like Stevenage (hard working but fair) and Cambridge (Dirty b45t4rds) when we could get a better test and draw bigger crowds playing foreign sides
  4. My friend (I know, shocking) who was there told me the one on Klose was horrendous. He also said he thought Pritchard was making a meal of his challenge when fouled initially because it didn''t look that bad but it looks like he''s been hurt the most. So frustrating though, doesn''t matter how good Farke''s fitness regime is if lower league cloggers are hellbent on hurting out small guys or let''s be honest, a bit soft Swiss defenders to make a name for themselves. I really don''t get why we don''t just spend the whole pre season playing foreign teams. It looks like we''re working on shape and defending primarily, I think it would be better to play less physical, more tactically aware foreign teams who can move the ball around well enough to test our shape and tactics.
  5. Cambridge should be told this will be our last friendly with them now, probably a decent little earner for them but they can forget it after this. They can invite the scum instead and have a kickboxing match with those cloggers
  6. 16 million or do one, quite simple. Murphy would ruin his career by sulking or refusing to play, if he doesn''t develop in the next few years he''ll be stuck as a championship player, with his contract we hold literally every card. They have the money, their manager is desperate to get him, just pay the money!
  7. Good to see that Farke trusted Godfrey to play again, even to play in defence in an awkward position after having a bit of a mare in the last game. Even more positive is that Godfrey responded and has played well. We need players with that mentality, means we''re less likely to get into losing ruts
  8. Potentially unpopular opinion inbound: Oliviera would be a bigger loss than Jacob. Jacob is potential and we need to get back to the Pl as soon as possible, Oliviera is a 20 goal a season striker at this level if he stays fit but is also a complete footballer and good all round forward. in the top 3 striker in this division imo, in this league you tend to get either a poacher or a good player who doesn''t score many, Nelson is both and losing him would be catastrophic. if there''s a 10 million release clause, which is only rumoured at the moment then we''re really screwed, if not, then 15 million as an absolute minimum. If Fulham can get 13 for McCormack then we should be asking for 20 for Oliviera
  9. Kinda worried about the fans next year. So many of you are just toally off base with your expectations this year. We''re now a Championship club with a just about top 10 budget. We''re not consolidating, we''re using all the means at our disposal to assemble the best squad possible, the moves we''re making are a result of our financial predicament. We can''t just plunge the club into debt but I seriously doubt anyone at CR would be happy with a run in the Championship. I seriously think some of you still haven''t gotten over the relegation and think we''re still a PL club. Last season was our chance to keep this run since 2009 going, we blew it, the main culprets have left and a new team is doing what they can. Lower your expectations and try and get behind the club! We''re definitely, 100% going to experience some teething problems with this new set up but the pay off will be worth it. No club that we admire now like Swansea/Huddersfield/Soton etc got off to a flyer once changing their ethos. It took Swansea for example about 4 years and 3 managers to get where they are but look at them now! I''m dreading a situation where we inevitably lose to Fulham then get beat by Sunderland because we''re still getting our head round this new style and the fans boo the team off 2nd game of the season which affects the players and the spirit Farke is trying to foster. I''m totally behind this new regime but I''m expecting us to start quite poorly like Reading/Leeds did last year. I''m just praying other fans are sensible enough to understand the situation and can have some patience!
  10. Wouldn''t be surprised if this new style still hasn''t bedded in 5 games into the season. It took Reading and Huddersfield a bit of time to start playing well, I can see that being the case here. Not reading anything into these friendlies, especially with how hard the players are being worked at Colney, they''re starting the matches tired. This will be a shock to a lot of our players and maybe even staff, Webber did warn them that they might have to work a bit harder this year alongside adapting to changes. i hope people are prepared to be patient!
  11. Interesting that lewis makes the bench while Toffolo misses out as well. I think Wildschut''s playing there out of necessity, Our RB''s will be Pinto, Martin and Husband can play there as well, Farke just doesnt have any available or fit enough yet. Just finished watching the full Lowestoft game on youtube, erm, Zimmermann worries me a bit I''ve got to admit, anyone there tonight who can tell us how he''s getting on? He''s young for a defender but extremely slow and some of his tackles were really clumsy. Hope he''s just settling in!
  12. Joins up with Ebou Adams. Sending our youngsters out in pairs, with Ramsay and Efete at Lincoln and now these two... Less traveling for Neil Adams I suppose, wonder if this is his idea? Told the club it''ll help their development but really he just wants less trudging up and down motorways! Seriously though, good that he''s got another loan. A good year there getting 10-15 goals and he can then try to force his way into the team here.
  13. So, the solution is to spend money we don''t have? The damage has been done, be mad at the club/AN/Moxey/Mcnally whoever you blame for the past 3/4 years of poor transfers but what the club does now is out of necessity, Webber and Farke weren''t here and are doing all they can to make the best of the situation. The fans should be doing the same instead of getting all p155y about how much we''re spending on transfer fees. I mean, does it really need to be said again? From Holt (450k) to Van Wolfswinkel (7m) What a tremendous upgrade that was!
  14. Explains where the reports of us being interested in Keller came from. We''ve probably had a scout there towards the end of the season but we were watching the defender not the manager :P
  15. Still young for a defender, I''d have preferred someone a bit bigger physically but we can''t complain too much with what we had to spend. I haven''t seen him play but look forward to seeing what he can do in a yellow shirt.
  16. The transfer fees are only so high for those players because it''s the agent doing the deals and the higher the fee, the bigger his cut. I would not be happy one bit right now if I was a Wolves fan. Although Ruddy is a good signing (Bennett not so much, thought he''d end up in L1) I''d take our attacking midfield options over theirs to be honest. Cavaliero and Costa looked good but nothing special to me last year, the rest of their team is comparable to 1p5wich''s. They''ll be up there, but they definitely wouldn''t be my favourites.
  17. Naismith talking to Maddison a lot, can only be a good thing. Naismiths brain in Maddisons body would be one hell of a player!
  18. Shows how highly we rate him here though that people are freaking out so damn much at a HITC article. It really does go without saying but selling a top quality striker like Oliviera to a promotion rival would be calamitous to the extreme. I don''t think Webber is that stupid, I think Farke is just setting a precedent by not responding to rumours so he won''t get asked much again in the future but I can''t see this happening. The fee would have to be over 15 million or fan morale will drop through the basement.
  19. I like that we''re lining up 4-1-4-1 as well. Central attacking midfield is our strongest area, might as well play a formation that fits two into their preferred central position at once. I hope Harrison Reed is ready though because I''m not sure Tettey is good enough to play the lone defensive midfielder, that''s gonna be a key position this year.
  20. Could''ve easily been a quote from AN after one of his first games. To be honest we really won''t know the full measure of the guy for a good while yet. Look at the (second) start Adams had, after we beat Ipswich people were saying he was the next Paul Lambert. It''s one thing knowing what our weaknesses are and how as a team we should correct them, it''s another thing entirely coaching these ideas into this group of players (mostly defenders) and getting them to apply them game after game. I don''t think even the most inept managers in our history would tell the players to all stand ball watching at once in a set piece but that doesn''t stop them doing it. I like Farke from his interviews and what I''ve heard about him and I''m quietly confident about next year, but let''s not big this guy up too much before we''ve even played a competitive game. I think it''s important this season that we keep our expectations realistic, I think Webbers been trying to stress that as well. Even if Farke is a brilliant coach/manager he may get off to a rough start for whatever reason (acclimatization, players learning slowly, bad luck etc) I hope we stick with him though.
  21. Yep. Sick of the sight of most of the old guard and I think we over payed for the vast majority of our players so replacing them with cheaper options doesn''t worry me, especially with Webbers track record in the transfer market. Also, despite some of these players being really good individually, they have seldom ever gelled as an effective team, I''m looking forward to seeing us create an identity and way of playing that we can all get behind instead of our old tactic of pilling men forwards and relying on individual skill or long range strikes. If we lose the strikers or Pritchard I''ll be really concerned and unhappy, but so far so good imo.
  22. It''s the nature of our place in the football pyramid Lakey, there''s always so much riding on games for us for one reason or another. We''re not happy in this league* but will always struggle in the league above. We''re unlikely to ever find ourselves in a comfortable position where we can relax and can take matches less seriously. * not because we''re spoilt, without parachute payments we become one of the small fish financially
  23. Awful news. I mean we knew it was inevitable but still. My heart sank when they announced it on the radio. The family must be inconsolable but at least they have the support of basically the entire country, which is a small comfort I suppose
  24. We will not get any better than Jerome or Oliviera with the money we have this summer. Without spending tonnes of money we could quite easily get better defenders and deeper midfielders than we''ve had but in the forward positions we won''t do any better so we really have to go all out to keep these players. Everyone has a price, but for Jerome, Oliviera, Pritchard and the Murphy''s that price should be absolutely astronomical before we consider selling. If Reading offer 15 million, then maybe, but no club will pay that much for him so he should be staying put
