Morison to Leeds?

Recommended Posts

Article in the Yorkshire Post today says that they are looking at Morison with NCFC possibly bringing in two strikers.

I actually like Morison, I think he gets labelled as lazy mainly because he is not Grant Holt and when he is playing, he usually is playing instead of Holty. I would not be surprised with him leaving if we were to bring in two strikers as that would push him well down the pecking order

Thoughts?

Makes you wonder if Beccio and CMS are at least two of the fall backs incase Graham (outbidded by Sunderland / lure of the North East) and Hooper (not willing to meet Celtics selling price).

Warnock certainly wants to let everyone know that Beccio is considering leaving to initiate a bidding war.

After the first half of last season when he showed a lot of promise he has faded somewhat due to a combination of poor form, injuries and not being played. He has never really captured the imagination here which is a shame as i thought he was a fantastic signing when we got him. There can be no question of us getting rid of him until we get quality repacements in especially as Holt has been hit by injuries a bit more this season. I would say though he is a striker who top championship sides would want and if played every game would still get you about 10 in the premiership.I think we paid a tad over £2m for him and i would expext that amount back with possibly a bit more on top

I am a fan of Morison. What he did through to January last season was brilliant. He scored great goals, the goal against arsenal last season showed why he was brought in and is under contract.

He is a popular member of the squad, if you watch pre game training he is a character, does not look disinterested and is a troublesome forward for premiership defences. Last season he troubled great centre halves as much as holty did. His injury in January was awful timing as a partnership with holty then would have caused more problems.

Probably the main reason for fewer goals, since hughtons time is due to us being more solid and more defensive in our approach. Holty has a poor record of 4 goals and has not looked prolific or the striker he was last season.

I think Morison is a superb striker to have on the books through to the end of the season. I am not sure in regard to Kane getting opportunities if we were to have graham and hooper in our squad with Morison able to play with these other strikers. I think he will perform better with these two and hence still be a part of our squad.

If an offer was to come in for him that was felt right I would be content to see him move on as I would be with any of our players. We are looking to improve year on year with quality through our squad and the ability to reach higher levels. Russell Martin and Surman were touted as potential Newcastle recruits last season and yes I would have been content if they wanted to move on and we brought in players of quality above.

There are no players in our squad who are irreplaceable, many would move down rather than up. Holty found out that he was not worth anything more to any other club this summer, our talisman striker will find that new heros are here now, bassong, tettey, possibly a new striker will come in and take that role from him and I hope we can get two new strikers in so that he is on the bench and do the role Ricardo fuller did at stoke. Be that player that could come on and remind the fans why he was the leading striker and how we got in the premiership by him leading the line with 20 mins to go.

Morison to leave? Well I don''t think we need to rush that and I would be worried if we had Kane instead of Morison as fourth choice when we then would be looking at a new striker in the summer to replace Kane.

I wonder if the murthy twins will get on the bench soon though for the youthful exuberance and the unknown.

We''ve been outbid by Sunderland for Graham have we? Also can we knock this "lure of the north east" stuff on the head please, he''s a die hard Geordie, the last club in the world he''d want to play for is Sunderland.

As for Moro, I''d be sad to see him go. Never got a run of games (which, like Holt, I think think he needs) after his injury and was treated spectacularly badly by his own fans. Wouldn''t begrudge him a move though, whatever he does will never be good enough here so it''s probably best for his career that he moves on.

If he joins Leeds that will be the same number of players gone from here to there in 5/6 years as there has been from there to here... Maybe they should call us their feeder club as well? ;)

we need 4 competetive strikers and whichever way you look at it morison is hughtons second choice striker at the mo - in view of that while I think he will move onif we sign two morison become part of the best 4.

will wish him luck when he goes

Thank you Brownstone, this ridiculous ''lure of the North East'' is getting beyond ridiculous! HE HATES SUNDERLAND.

Talking of Andy Hughes, I remember going to a match, possibly Hull away and his distribution was absolute garbage, he was close to 10 yards away from his intended target at each opportunity. I liked him though as you could see the heart in his play, he was always up for it in a David Nielsen way (who I thought had scored more goals for us).

I digress, I do feel that a move for Morison would be good for him, even a loan move for a month just to get some games under his belt as I agree he is a momentum player and that is what happened in the early stages of last season. Personally I would be sad to see him go, and agree with the above comments with him in the dressing room. Not sure if anyone saw the picture Elliott Bennett put on twitter last week, Morison had a fine to pay Neil Reynolds and brought a wheelbarrow full of 1 pence pieces

I do like the 4-4-1-1 formation however I am not adverse to going back to a 4-4-2. Having Hoolahan in the hole is great when he is firing on all cylinders but I actually thought he had a poor game against Newcastle and has at times a tendency to hold on to the ball for one or two steps too many. The point being that there could be a role for Morison still in the current squad starting with Holt, today would be a good example, a club in Liverpool who are conceding goals and throwing two up top.

Also, I am unsure if we were to get two strikers of the mold of Hooper and Graham then I would think that Jackson would be the more likely to stay out of Morison and Jackson as I think he would give us a different option

No we haven''t been outbid I was merely suggesting a reason why Graham might not end up here. Sunderland may well be prepared to bid more than us and do have the funds to do so.

In my opinion I''m sure Graham would swiftly set aside his Geordie/Mackam loyalties if Sunderland offered him a generous wage especially as he would be able to move back to his community and family.

Again - this is all just conjecture but we are still entitled on this board to make educated judgements I hope.

Graham has openly stated that he''d never play for them. Whilst they might be prepared to offer more in terms if wages, it''s not the be all and end all, ask Hucks.

Hypotheitical question; say you have the choice of 2 clubs to move to, the first club, in a fantastic part of the country and where you already have friends, is offering you £30k a week, and the other was club is Ipswich and are offering £35k/£40k a week, which club do you pick?

I''d bet 99.99% of us would tell the scum to shove it.

But if you were to read what he said and not what Colchester fan said you would have read it like (I can''t see myself playing for a big club like Norwich) He also said he didn''t think he would be good enought to make the 1st team, And that is what he meant.

If Moro does move on his time with us will be viewed positively as he has played his part in our continued progress.

Won''t it[:^)]

Its not been a marriage made in heaven for us or the player,  but when players go its best to remember the good times -  just like with ex-wives - if you can remember any good times, that is  [:S]
