Sjb 13 Posted May 13, 2012 Lambert is an very tactical minded guy, he wont come out and say im here for next season for obvious reasons as he hasn''t the last 2. He wants more money to spend during the summer. If he wants or needs more money to spend then he wont say he''s here for next season as no doubt the conversation with the board will be along the lines of this: LAMBERT: I want more money to spend to improve our team BOARD:You know we have very limited funds and can''t offer you millions we don''t have. LAMBERT: we''ll i want money if you want me to remain here then give me money to spend BOARD: We want you to be here so we can offer you 4 million extra LAMBERT: thanks thats a start but i was looking more 10-12 million extra BOARD: ok we''ll see what we can do for you over the comming week LAMBERT: ok thanks And even if the board does fail to keep hold of him, then whose the best man to find his replacement? McNally. He found a gem in Lambert and he will already have a shortlist of managers he''d like to be here when Lambert eventually leaves us
Lamb Chopped? 0 Posted May 13, 2012 Very well said and I agree that this could well be the game that Lambert is playing. If the worst happens I too have faith that McNally will bring in another promising young manager and that we could still push on from there.I think that many of us could be worried though, baaaaaaaaaaaah! priceyrice 133 Posted May 13, 2012 I think that there is no such need for those sort of mind games. The board has done what it can to support Lambert every year and has said they will give him what he can. I don''t think they are holding anything back, Lambert seems to work closely with McNally, he knows how the finances are and what we can and can''t risk. I am sure there is an agreed spending limit which is as good as the board can offer. Nothing Lambert says is going to change that
Bryangunnshairline 0 Posted May 13, 2012 I agree with the original poster. It''s Lambert wanting more cash . He wants to push on. It''s now up to the board if they can and want to match his ambitions

Mr Brownstone 0 Posted May 13, 2012 As I said when the OP posted this on another thread, McNally 100% will not gamble with the club''s future to give Lambert a bigger transfer budget, and I doubt Lambert would ask him to. As Pricey said, Lambert knows the score with our finances and knows the board will give him every spare penny they''ve got. If he has his head turned and leaves it won''t be because we didn''t back him, we can''t and won''t gamble our long term future to have a big budget for a couple of years. Ask Pompey fans if it was worth it.
Kingston Yellow 259 Posted May 13, 2012 I agree with the OP. "I will get this season out of the road and then I will see what happens and think about what is going on and the achievements we have done and then we will see." EQUALS "I''ll see if the Board''s ambition matches mine then decide my future."A number of Lambert''s recent press interviews have him quoted as saying "I want to win things." IMO, if the Board is ambitious and wants to win things too, I think he''ll stay. I''ve said it before, but Lambert is like Shankley. Shanks took over Liverpool at the bottom of the old Second Div and turned them into the club we remember. Lambo could do the same here.

lincoln canary (& Golden Coppel) 0 Posted May 14, 2012 I''m not overly worried about Lambert leaving. It''s all speculation that''s been hyped up by the media. I do However feel Lambert is a little disrespectful towards the club and us fans by the way he continually never looks beyond today. Surely after a momentous season a nice little comment about how bright the clubs future is and how we''re going to strengthen in the summer before we try to go one better next season would have been appropriate. Lambert has a responcibillity to help maintain a steady ship, his comments often do the opposite and cause supporters to feel un easy about the future. As much as I like Lambert he can be replaced, and he should never forget the platform he''s been given to be successful. Prior to Norwich he''d been very average in his previous managerial roles. whoareyou? 0 Posted May 14, 2012 There are going to be a lot of Premier league clubs in big financial trouble over the next few years. Villa, Wigan, Bolton and Birmingham have all run up big debts they cannot hope to repay easily especially if the Euro does crumble as now seems certain. Those who spend their money wisely could well be the big winners in 5 years time. Old Shuck 291 Posted May 14, 2012 It must be time to renew/renegotiate his contract. He''s on a yearly "rolling" one isn''t he, am assuming that, every June 1st or thereabouts, it kicks in again and they all need to get around the table, just as they have done before, pre-Championship and pre-this season as I remember? Nothing will happen up until and immediately beyond Drury''s testimonial as PL and the club wouldn''t want to overshadow the build up and PR or that, likewise, if he was leaving, he certainly wouldn''t announce anything before then as that game would then be all about him and not Adam and either turn into a Lambert wake/celebration-again, not something anyone at the club would want. I''m actually quite puzzled as to the timing of the Celtic match and wondering why it is when it is and why it wasn''t one of the games in the lead up to next season which would seem to make a lot more sense, especially as regards getting people there-seems to hint, conspiracy theory, that it couldn''t be played in late July/early August as a certain beneficiary won''t be here then, his contract having expired on June 1st. When you look at Villa, recent experience of Managers there has severly dented the reputations of two -David O''Leary and Gerard Houllier-as well as leave a seeming bad taste all round in the mouth for Martin O''Neill-three high profile Managers getting their backsides kicked, perhaps McLeish was all they could get after those three had been and gone as no-one else wanted to know. Despite all of that, I still wouldn''t blame or think ill of Lambert if he decided that was to be the next stage of his managerial career. They are a bigger club in the eyes of most, including him I would imagine, huge fanbase, great stadium and history, what a challenge-writing all that, I almost want it myself now! I''d be gutted, supreamly so, but would have to wish him well. Would be odd how he won a first game of a season against a club who then tempted him away and then, at that club, won a last game of the season against another who then also tempted him away! Playing the "if" game further-obviously you''d hope McNally would try to insert a clause in the reduce deal which prevented him tempting/accessing our players for 12/18 months or whatever-no good him building a team here and then dismantling it with his departure. There have been similar instances of this happening with Managers moving. You''d also like to think that not only would the club have some very high profile names in might as possible replacements, that there would also be huge interest in the role and from Managers across Europe as well-the days of throwing names like Adie Bothroyd, Martin Allen, Micky Adams and Paul Ince around are long gone! Playing the game a little further-and hope thats all it is-who could come in and replace him? Chris Hughton a clear stand-out candidate. I guess Malky would be, I only hope the football he has them playing at Cardiff is through neccessity rather than it being his way. Chris Powell another good call, Karl Robinson, Lee Clark maybe-if he came "onboard" with a more experienced man as would be big step up for him. Di Matteo if Chelsea dump him which they probably will. Or, thinking right out of the box now, Jean Tigana. Hopefully all hear-say and a new contract for PL and team by the beginning of next month. The other thing to remember -though this could change today I guess- is that McLeish is still Villa Manager!

Indy 3,471 Posted May 14, 2012 Sorry but three things point to Lambert really looking at his options before commiting to another season with Norwich. But consider this: No contracts renewed with any player. No training camp arranged for the first time under Lambert. His speach at the end never referred to Next Season, just thanking everyone for the past three great years. He never came out to celebrate with the fans and squad. I think we have seen Lambert for the last time as Norwich Manager. The club will want to move this quickly and get the new man in if Lambert is on his way. From his body langauge and his speach I can only assume that he is on his way. Really hope not, but wish him well and I''m sure we would consider promoting the next manager from within the caoching staff!
