Mister Chops 11 Posted March 23, 2012 Not without some kind of giant miracle of complete sh*te it isn''t. Played Points Ave Pts/Game Remaining Games Required Pts/Game to reach 37 pts Wigan 29 22 0.76 9 1.67 Wolves 29 22 0.76 9 1.67 Bolton 28 23 0.82 10 1.40 QPR 29 25 0.86 9 1.33 Here you go."Average points per game" is how many points on average each of these clubs has taken from their matches so far."Required points per game" is how many each club would need to average to reach 37 points. You can see the performance improvement is significant, and that''s before you scrutinise QPR''s fixtures. For interest, I have also assumed Norwich get only 1 more point in total from all their remaining 9 games and therefore go down on Goal Difference. You can see this as optimistic if you want to, but I reserve the right to smash your face in.Bottom line: if you assume we pick up 1 more point (or none, in fact), these clubs still have to significantly outperform their level so far this season in order for us to go down. And so would Blackburn, though I sense they are on a roll.So we could still achieve 17th! GET IN THERE! [+o(]
ricardo 8,109 Posted March 23, 2012 It would require 3 of the bottom 5 to hit Euro qualification form all at the same time.Pigs might flybut they won''t[;)]

By then the season will be over and one of us will have "I told you so" rights.Oh and in 5 years time did the thread up and selectively quote my posts to prove a point about something else entirely.Oh and throw in a conspiracy theory either about posters or player infidelity. K Lo 248 Posted March 23, 2012 Possible? Yes.Likely? No.It''s always possible until the maths says no, even if it means QPR have to beat Man City 20-0.Remember Coventry Vs Everton in ''85?
Duncan Edwards 0 Posted March 23, 2012 I''ve been confronted by the Radio Rental Wizard of the East.He has forecast the clouds of doom o''er Carrow....he declares we are doomed...and like Blackpool we shall return to an abyss of fruit machines and temptation. So, you see, not only are we going down but Delia is moving the club to Yarmouth in order to maximise the freshness of the fish in her restaurant and so that once The Doc retires he can return and trot up and down the front. Glad I haven''t renewed.

norfolkbroadslim 225 Posted March 24, 2012 You''re forgetting an equally if not more so important point than whether these clubs have tough run-ins playing the top 6 or 7. They still have to play fixtures against the other teams in the bottom 5, therefore only a maximum of 1 point each or 3 points for 1 team in these games is possible. To get relegated, 3 of the current bottom 5 need to overhaul us![:@]
87canary 0 Posted March 24, 2012 It''s still mathematically possible. But not particularly probable. It would take a colossal screw up for us to go down now. Cant see it myself. The boys will shine against wolves today, it''ll be tough, but I''m sure we''ll have 3 more points between us and at least QPR by 5pm.
Cantiaci Canary 610 Posted March 24, 2012 Try to stop fretting. You can''t predict what will happen. It is possible that the teams in the bottom 5 will win most of their remaining games - it''s win or die for them (look at QPR and Blackburn in mid week). It is possible that we will lose most of our remaining games - no points come easy in this league and we are stuggling to score at the minute. However both of these scenarios are unlikely. At the end of the day the final league table doesn''t lie. If we get relegated - tough luck we weren''t good enough.
