It''s £28 to get in to  the canary cage when we com down and visit? I know Iphone contracts aren''t exactly cheap but surely QI pays enough to cover it.

Four or five years ago the last time i went carrow road but my memory of that day is  a little hazy given the excellent standard of cask ales in the Compleat Angler. Times before that it was that horrible little cramped stand with seats that broke when you sat on them. I like norwich its a good day out albeit a little strange and very easy to get lost!! Never been into a pub called murder before.

I have to agree that to call a pub "The Murderers" is a wee bit strange; still we do like to "Do Different" here in Norfolk. The Murderers is in fact a nickname for the pub, where a lady was murdered in the 19th century - some say she still haunts the pub. The original and official name for this hostelry is The Gardeners Arms.

A visitor who was meeting somebody at The Murderers, asked me for directions there, and he enquired with some trepidation as to whether it was a dodgy pub.

[/quote]Thanks for the history snippet. That pub is marked down as a place to revisit. Apparently something called Tombland? (sp) is where to head after dark if you want to avoid  spotty oiks throwning up and fighting over who looks the biggest gimp in the Henleys jeans

Ah, there''s another one for all you history buffs. Tombland has nothing to do with a burial place (tombs) - no, tombland is a Saxon word for an open space. It was the site of the old Saxon market in Norwich. When the Normans arrived in Norwich in the 11th century they moved the market to where it is now and built that beautiful cathedral close to Tombland. Another Saxon oddity is the word gate to mean street; eg Fishergate and Colegate (that''s enough gates, ed).

if you don''t like cramped stands then i suggest you go to Portaloo Road in Scumswich - certainly won''t be cramped there and never mind you paying £28 to get in, they will pay you to make up the numbers

but of course, if you go there, get your shots at the doctors first

It''s as flippin disgrace, what an eyesore, stands out like a sore thumb.  I mean, just look at that block of lighter coloured yellow seats, shocking, lets the whole stand down[:@]
