The Chirp 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Hi guys, missed the first half of the action today on the radio... why was francomb taken off? Good win... sounds as if we weren''t at our best but it is a sign of a good team when they can play badly and still ease to victory.
manbearpig 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Neil Adams seems to think he injured himself going into a tackle at the end of the 1st half.
The Chirp 0 Posted October 24, 2009 aha okay, that seems to fit as it seems he did well from what Pete said in the live coverage. thanks.

WeAreYellows49 0 Posted October 24, 2009 A strain so Lambert said
Syteanric 1 Posted October 24, 2009 Seeing Francomb play makes me wish even more that Semmy had taken Beckford out on monday... it wouldnt of made a difference if Semmy was injured and couldnt play today and we''d of had the point! lol
Kissthebadge 0 Posted October 24, 2009 I thought he looked good today and got forward well. A very solid debut and promising for the future. It seems to be the ''injury-cursed'' position this season though.
Yellow Hotrod 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Thought George looked very good going attacking, he got forward just like a winger. But how was his defending? I couldn''t tell so well from the lower barclay...
G 0 Posted October 24, 2009 He was injured for the Leeds game and it has flared up again.
vos 175 Posted October 24, 2009 I thought he had a very good game today. Defended well against a very poor team. Made himself available to attack on a number of occasions and crossed the ball well. On todays performance little between him and Spillane.
ncfc4life 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Firstly was just wondering why Otsemobor was dropped? Was he injured or has Paul Lambert finally realised what a waste of space he is and dropped him?In terms of Francomb I was really impressed with him. Seemed solid enough at the back but the attacking for me was very impressive. he was constantly bombing forward in a way that Otsemobor very rarely does and alot of the attacks seemed to be going down the rightside

SnakepitCanary 0 Posted October 24, 2009 He put in a promising performance, he looked relatively solid and made some good crosses. The only negative was that he didn''t dribble the ball to well. Still, I hope to see more of him.
Bungay Canary 0 Posted October 24, 2009 though he done well seemed to have a good understanding with smith certainly looked a lot better option than than jonny going forward and some good crosses and as the game went on hooligan and holt kept threading some nice balls out to him to boost his confidence shame he got injured just before h/t certainly one for the future nice to see theses youngsters coming through the ranks again

Tangible Fixed Assets anyone? 0 Posted October 24, 2009
Yes Francomb missed his tackle late in the first half and City''s lead and the points nearly disappeared
I thought our midfield got out of position which then made it easier for them v Francomb and yes you are right its the move that nearly cost us a win. Tangible Fixed Assets anyone? 0 Posted October 24, 2009 BTW., I thought Francomb had a good game. He''s coming on well.
GJP 79 Posted October 24, 2009 Thought he looked pretty good. Comfortable on the ball. Think there was a couple of moments to suggest he''s got a little way to go from a defensive point of view. He impressed me more today than when I first saw Spillane playing but it''s still early days.
I am a Banana 0 Posted October 25, 2009
A strain so Lambert said
yeah exactly - so lambert saidit could have been anything, but lambert is not going to come out and say it was because he was playing rubbish* as it would just kill his confidence! *i thought he played well but do prefer semi for his pace as a right back at the moment! now off to work! Mr.Carrow 394 Posted October 25, 2009 He slipped a couple of times in defence but then nearly every player did that. Technique-wise he reminded me of Drury and looked quite positive and confident in attacking positions. The main downside is the obvious one with kids- he`s so physically slight, needs to hit the weights and steaks i think.
Scooby 0 Posted October 25, 2009 I thought he did pretty well. A little shaky in defence at times and might be tested more by someone with pace. However, going forward he was impressive. I particularly liked his willingness to attack the space in front of him. No waiting around to allow cover to come across, just head down, get 20-30 yards further into the opposition territory, put them on the back foot first, then look for the pass/cross. Good aggressive football. Won''t be a regular this season I shouldn''t think but a very competent back up and a great prospect. Well done George!
Howson is now! 0 Posted October 25, 2009 I thought he had a very good game. I felt a major part of this was that Korey Smith had him covered on pretty much every single attack. As he knows the position really well having played there in the youth team, he knew exactly what was expected of him to give Francomb an easier time.Francomb seemed to read the game very well and had a very good balance between attacking and defending. If he''s given more chances, there will be tougher tests for him, but I think he will be another one of our youngsters that will bloom in this league and push for a first team place. The latest Ostomobor errors contributed to City''s last defeat on Monday night against Leeds just incase you had forgotten Southstand???Francomb done well I thought and I would much prefer to see either Spillane or Francomb in at Right Back rather than Ostomobor. ZLF 334 Posted October 25, 2009 I thought Francomb showed promise. He got forward well, not with Jons pace but positioned himself well and put in a couple of really good crosses.Once early on he found himself out of position but beyond that was pretty solid, until he was found wanting at the v end f the first half, but was aware enough to work back injuring himself in the process. Fortunately it did not cost us a goal.Spillane remains a clear first choice at rb fopr me, but despite his youth I think George has shown enough to be given a longer run than the continual point loser that its JO.
