risk of trouble - football special?

with nearly 1000 fans coming on the football special (says the edp) and bristolians not known to be the nicest fans in the world, is there chance of less or more trouble between fans?? i can see 1000 beered up bristolians walking through riverside making it quite an atmosphere pre match

I''ve never known Rovers fans to cause any trouble.  Bristol City fans on the other hand are a complete bunch of tosspots.All 1000 won''t be coming by train anyway.  Most will be on the bus (it''s half the price).The Rovers lads will make it a good atmosphere, but you will get bored of them sining ''Goodnight Irene'' over and over.

I live 10 miles north of bristol . I can honestly say that Rovers fans will not cause one ounce of trouble. City on the other have an average att of about 13,000 and every single one of those fans attend the game are hooligans. they do not attend for footballing reasons.

i remember in the 80 s we used to run football specials trains to the odd big game great atmosphere remember going to man city in the cup just after john bond left us for man city, lost 6-0 ! the lady on the train had a steady queue for egg sandwitches washed down with a hidden bells whisky or two .wolves, yoevil to name a couple of others happy days

Living in Bristol myself, I''d largely agree. I have a couple of mates who''s a season ticket holders at City and they''re fairly normal. In fact, they both asked to change seats at the end of last season because they were fed up of being surrounded by idiotic muppets.

rovers nice fans?? well my mate got set upon on way back to the train station by a group of 5 rovers fans..... tripped him up and kicked in the head. lovely fans. if it wasnt for 2 policemen walking past he could have been seriously hurt. and he was in a norwich shirt.

I actually said that they''re ok, I didn''t say nice. football fans are a mixed bag regardless of what club they support, no club has solely well behaved or solely horrible fans. However, rovers fans in my experience have been ok.

Well if it was the same incident I saw, the Norwich fans started it.  I heard a couple of them shouting "West Country w*nk w*nk w*nk" and similar, they were right behind me then I heard a scuffle.  The police were, erm, "walking past" because they could sense trouble imo.

Did they fcuk. didn''t want to know... had some good banter with rovers fans before the match, and fair play to the fella who apologised for them later, but like glovey said, our mate got set upon after minimal provocation, got kicked in the head, luckily he''s ok, but could have been very serious. Seems some rovers fans can''t take a fefeat , or the fact the opposition might take the piss when you get beat 5-1. If we, as Norwich fans, reacted as violently as this every time we got a tonking, ther would be no-one left in the ground as we would all have 3 year banning orders!!!

No of course not but there WAS deliberate provocation.  They started it.  Thet were behaving like idiots and anyone with half a grain of common sense could see it was going to kick off if they didnt shut up.  They aimed it at a group of fans in Rovers shirts who ignored them, but then came up against someone as idiotic as themselves.  Serves them right.

This will happen more and more this season, I know this happened outside the ground but if those idiots in the lower barclay E Block (mostly little kids) continue to give it the ''big un'' to the away fans they will retaliate.

Also applies to away games, you cant hide in the crowd after the game this season!

So this Norwich fan was abusive in the street calling Rovers fans W****** after they had travelled for more than 5 hours, had lost 5-1, and facing a journey of more than 5 hours to get home.

The first lot of Rovers fans ignored him so he then did it again to another group who gave him a quick slap.

What an idiot Norwich fan for provoking trouble and bringing our reputation into disrepute. If he got a slap then perhaps he will think twice before abusing people in the street in future.

Remember that a lot of us have to travel to their stadium later in the season and would hope to get a good welcome with no trouble, but idiots like your mate can give a bad impression of us.

I enjoyed talking to Rovers fans in the pubs before and after the game. No hint of any trouble at all from them.
