Bury Yellow 2 Posted November 23, 2008 Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but must mention Hucks. He sat in the away end yesterday fully supporting the team.Prior to the game he was in the back of the stand. He stopped and talked to supporters, shook hands, signed autographs and willingly had pictures taken.Hucks, I salute you.

I mean it''s great that he''s "one of the fans" and all that but if I was going to be feted as a messiah every time I set foot at my old place of work I''d probably go back more often than I do. PurpleCanary 6,378 Posted November 23, 2008 Heavens to Betsy, and I thought I was cynical. It might in this case have something to do with Huckerby having been born in Nottingham.

When did you last see Adrian Coote in the away supporters end?I think it''s great Huckerby''s going to games as a supporter, but I''m sure it''s a nice experience for him too. Hairy Canary 753 Posted November 23, 2008 There may be a grain of truth in it yes but its much more likely that the guy feels a true affinity with the club and there are plenty of other examples which prove that. Don''t forget there were better offers in the championship available which he turned down so as not to play against us. Now thats not being feted is it, thats hard cash turned down because he cares for the club.I guess we agree on one thing, you have a cynical view.
grantroederdisaster 0 Posted November 23, 2008 Well obviously Hucks wouldn''t sit with fans if he was going to to be abused! Hucks has got a genuine affinity to the club which was a one of a number of reasons why Roeder made a massive error releasing Hucks who was by far our best attacking threat! Great win last night helped by Pattisons 1st goal for us and a good game from Croft which we only geta quota of about 8 a season if we''re lucky. if those 2 produced that form all the time, great but they don''t unfortunately! PurpleCanary 6,378 Posted November 23, 2008 If Huckerby turns up at Hillsborough on Saturday, and Vicarage Road in midweek and the Madjeski after that, then the ego trip argument could be vindicated. If not then the simplest explanation, that he was fitting in the football with return to his home town, may well be the one holding the most water. grantroederdisaster 0 Posted November 23, 2008 Of cause Hucks was at the game last night cause it tied up with a trip to his home City! I think any fan that goes and watches our mainly woeful away displays should be applauded let alone Hucks! Great turnout considering it was live on TV! Syteanric 1 Posted November 23, 2008
When Delia sits with the fans its a glory seeking publicity stunt. When Huckerby does it, its some affinity for the club
because Darren Huckerby is no longer affiliated with Norwich city... if he spent his whole playing career not giving a toss and only performing when the cameras were about this would of been justified no?jas :)
Graham Paddons Beard 2,786 Posted November 23, 2008 Hucks should be applauded. A top bloke indeed. I''m sure Hucks could find warmer and easier ways to massage his ego if he so wanted.
Hooleyfan 0 Posted November 23, 2008 Does he stand and cheer, sing and jump up and down when we scored?
Bury Yellow 2 Posted November 23, 2008 Well! As I anticipated, it brought out the usual responses from both side of the ''Huck'' opinion.Surely the anti response was tongue in cheek otherwise we really do have sad synics on this board. For the latter I can assure you he didn''t go looking for autographs, pics etc. He doesn''t dress like the usual pro footballer and yes he did celebrate the goals in the yella manner. Finally with his income he really isn''t that insecure, either financially or personally to search for a dose of hero worship. In fact one of the most impressive things about last night was the sensible behaviour of our supporters towards him. Hero worship it wasn''t. Respect for a great entertainer and skillful footballer it certainly was.

Christ, mark this one up as a rarity, at 2:17pm on Sunday 23rd November 2008 IBA actually posted something that made some sense. Who would have thought it? He seemed there to watch the game and a bit embarrassed when having been left alone all game, eventually some people started talking to him. Top bloke.
