Marshall to go??

Recommended Posts

Anyone get the feeling we could possibly lose Marshall in January??!! Iv always though he was a great keeper and he proved it again at Forest, just afraid he could end up at the likes of Spurs in January and if the price was offered the club would probably jump at it if it was decent!

Thoughts? Or am i being a bit paranoid?!

hopefully he doesn''t go, he is keeping us in this league, if he went who do we have to fall back on

Nobody, and certainly no one of his quality so hopefully it wont happen and he stays!!

I suspect that, given the stricken financial state of the club, we''ll be getting a few bids for players in January-Marshall will certainly be on the proverbial radar of a few clubs, as will Bell. I wouldn''t be surprised if the dreaded minimum fee release clause wasn''t written into their contracts either.

Wouldn''t be surprised to see Cureton move on, also Drury, as suspect Bertrands loan will be extended, unless another club makes Chelsea an offer for him.

If Marshall was to leave, I''m not sure about Stuart Nelson-anyone seen him play??

Yep - in the pre-season friendly at Dereham. Hardly good evidence (we lost I think?) but he did alright and nothing spectacular. main criticism is that he had a voice like a foghorn and he used it continually. Could hear it across the ground - got a bit wearing after a while so heaven knows what it was like for the players!!

Several months ago I heard he was being lined up for a £3M move to Boro.

not a cat in hells chance that marshall will leave in january, the only club desperate for a keeper is spurs and they will not buy a low profile player like him. bell i would worry about though if someone like reading or birmingham bid 1.5million he will be gone. and i will be furious!!! but i still dont see him leaving in january

other players that will leave will be;

lappin, sibierski, cureton, nelson and kennedy. everyone else will stay including remaining loans, i will put my mortgage on it

If we could get a good price for him, I would be tempted. Personally, don''t think he is as great as some people are saying. He certainly isn''t anywhere near Rob Green in terms of standard IMO. While Marsh is a real top class shot stopper, he can look really vulnerable aerially sometimes. And as for his distribution..... reminds me of his namesake, he who shall not be named!

Marshall was superb at Forest.   But, it was his sort of game: shots coming from distance.  He''s a good shot stopper, always has bene.

His weakness is when crosses are hung up in the area, esepcially when a big man challenges for them.  He can flap at them, and his uncertainty transmits itself to the defence.  Until he can sort that out, he''s not the finished article.  Hopefully, the Forest performance will give him some confidence, which may be all that''s lacking.

I don''t think Bell can sign for anyone else can he? I thought you could not be signed permanetly to more than two clubs in one year under FIFA rules.

I dont think we could actually afford it, because Roeder would have to get another kepper, as he has no confidance in young players

Me think Greeno to Spuz as Harry is his type of Manager and Marshall to the Hammers

Marshy has a huge amount of talent, easily god enough for premiership now, yes he has to try and develop as a player bu he is 22/23 years old? so he has age on his side. theres already some crap keepers in the prem.turnbull-boroalmunia-arsenalgomes-spurswigan-pollitt/kirkland (when he is on holiday from A&E)even as an investment marshy would be a good buy, so, id be worried. as for nelson, he was a league 1 keeper for a reason, i preferred gilks to him.

He is the one person in our squad worth any money hence why he is our best and most valued player. Our financial state is dire aparently despite what has been said....and to be realistic he can be scotlands No.1 in a few more years time, and it isnt going to happen whilst at norwich. If a bid comes in, he will be off. That would be one of the worst possible scenarios in my opinion. Hes awsome, saved us so many times, ok hes cocked up a couple of times, but he is a top top keeper. I hope he doesnt go but to be fair i cant see him staying if a team comes in.

Turnbull? Not based on this season, he''s been doing very well.

Should definitely be in the frame to be in the England squad ahead of Carson and Robbo etc.

It''s hard to see how Almunia is "crap" given that he''s been first choice ''keeper at Arsenal for a while now. Maybe not what you''d consider Big 4 standard but not necessarily crap...
almunia is typical, he has great agilitym but he is kak handed and a poor co-ordinator
as for turnbull, he has still made a lot of mistakes, also, isn t brad jones playing ahead of him?
Nope, Turnbull has been on great form this season and has won Boro a fair few points with some of his saves.
