Dean Coneys boots 1,550 Posted September 27, 2008 was not signing Earny. If we had added him then we WOULD be up there because he is proven to score goals. But without such a payer we are toothless. I really do think that the lack of a potent goal scorer willbe the difference between challenging and languishing. We actually seem to play ok...but with 0 end product. Jamei = 1 season wonder- League 1 striker who is now past his bestOJ = untested youth with no proven skill at this or any levelLupoli= Reasonable champ player who is short of match practice and in need of helpSibierski = a good midfielder who can do a job but not the answerRusty = the fact I am discussing him on this thread emphasises how in need of a striker we actually are

Rasputin was a C... 0 Posted September 27, 2008 It certainly seems that he''s not found the sort of form he enjoyed when he was with us and the clubs of his earlier career. Perhaps he has lost his touch having played with the worst team ever to grace the Premier League.

The Fish Seller 0 Posted September 28, 2008 I don''t think you''re too far wrong highlighting a mistake was made not signing a goalscorer, whether Earnie was the right man is debatable but for £3m which you''d almost certainly recoup he didn''t seem to be too much of a gamble at the time.Problem is most of our ''mistakes'' are made deliberately by short changing the Manager. There can be no better indicator of this than the Summers events. The Turners waited until the transfer window was all but closed before ''not'' investing. The majority shareholders waited until the transfer window was all but closed before making up the shortfall caused by the Turners ''not'' investing and just had time to claw a million or so back on Shacks.Am I the only one who thinks the team (and supporters) would have been better served by these major players in the Club Boardroom making those funds available at the start of the transfer window when they could be used for buying really useful things like players instead of at the close of the transfer window as was the case? I know which of the pair of them I would bet my house on reaching 20 goals for the season first...
bringbackterraces 0 Posted September 28, 2008 Earnie would of found things hard at Norwich cause we don''t get the ball into the oppositions box enough so he would of had to make chances for himself which is what he did 2 seasons ago and most of Ched Evans goals last season he made himself! I always laugh at those who say the Earnie needed X amount of chances to score for us - His record for us was 27 goals in 41 games! - Earnie didn''t get that many chances when he played for us and scored many of his goals when there didn''t look to be a goal scoring opportunity!Whilst I agree with much you say about Cureton I feel much better strikers than him would struggle the way we play!Until we get more attack minded and that is - we have to be more direct in the final 3rd and this would entail more crosses into the box, more shooting long throws into the box and none of those silly pointless short throws near the corner flag, That gets me back to the title of this thread - The mistake last summer - I think most fans would agree with me and say this was the crazy premature of our best attacking player Huckerby seemingly cause Roeder didn''t like him! norfolkbroadslim 225 Posted September 28, 2008 I like Lupoli and Earnshaw. I would say that in our team Earnshaw would stand the better chance of getting 20 goals in a season, but that Lupoli may add more to the team overall. At this stage I would take Earnshaw, but without £2.5m you could do a lot worse than Lupoli.
