Ivana_rubyatitz 6 Posted August 22, 2008 In a couple of weeks lapp the window is closed and you cannot do international loans so time is tighter than that. How much more likely is it at the moment that we end up with neither?
BunnyB 0 Posted August 22, 2008 I would think Roeder is just as frustrated as everbody is, and I''m sure he is doing everything he can to get one in on no money.

However if they win and it becomes clear we''ve no chance then I feel sure he has plan B to fall back on. I don''t think Roeder will let his team stumble through till Jan without another striker as it''s the only obvious weakness in an otherwise strong squad. Felixfan 53 Posted August 22, 2008 No one other than pessimists on this forum has said that money is the main issue. Roeder went to the board with his targets and spending plans in May and these were approved.

Felixfan 53 Posted August 22, 2008 Either you believe what the manager and board repeatedly tell us or you don''t. We are not privy to the detailed discussions or whether the targets were ambitious but Roeder has never once said that he has been handicapped by his budget and the wages of some of the new squad must be at the upper levels for the Championship. Whilst Roeder has often said he admires Ameobi and he would score for fun in the Championship he has never indicated that he is one of his targets - that has been fuelled by fan and press rumour and hype. Tumbleweed 106 Posted August 22, 2008 Don''t laugh but didn''t Gary Doherty play up front a couple of times in the prem season? I''m not suggesting he is a solution at all (far from it) but as a stop gap measure until this mess is sorted is it not worth trying? Ivan Easter 0 Posted August 22, 2008 He said in his statement on Official site that it was not the money but the striker''s club which is being difficult. What about any other strikers if money is not the problem?

Pity this is suppose to be a FOOTBALL club.
barclayboy1902 6 Posted August 22, 2008 of couse the whole saga is down to money, how much is iverson going to cost us,cant be alot, other clubs in this position would force the hand of the selling club by improving the ,deal.as for no backup plan its down to money, roeder is a big admirer of ameobi but we cant afford him, simple as that iversons the only one in our price range!give jimmy a pay as you play till re inforcements arrive

As others have said, time to up the offer if we really want someone like other clubs do (if money is not a massive issue as we are told). It is a sellers market for quality big strikers so you have to pay the market rate.
